Kinetic and Thermodynamic Investigations of the Reaction between Metoclopramide Hydrochloride and para-Dimethylaminobenzaldehyde

Abstract

AbstractKinetic study of the condensation reaction of metoclopramide drug with para-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde (DAB) in weakly acidic EtOH/H2O has been investigated. A reversible first order reaction with respect to DAB and zero order with respect to metoclopramide has been observed. The rate constants, activation energies, pre-exponential factors, and other related thermodynamic functions of activation for both forward and reverse reactions have been determined. Standard thermodynamic parameters including equilibrium constant, ΔGo, ΔHo, and ΔSo have been calculated.
