THE PUNISHMENT OF ADULTERY IN ANCIENT IRAQI LAWS

Abstract

That action has always been treated by the law as it violates the ancient traditions and costumes. The ancient Iraqi laws have treated that through many legal codes. These codes were nit in one law, but through a series of legislations known in the Mesopotamia. The first Uruinimgina 2378-2370 B.C. The procedures of study stipulated that the legislator did not except anyone from punishment. He was fair in that concern.The study was divided into six main pivots; each of the pivots tackled the Iraqi legislations according to the chronological. The codes were tackled that studied adultery. The conclusion included the most important findings of the study and comparing with each other. Then, it was followed by the references used by the researcher.
