Effect of oily extract of Zingiber officinalis and Thymus vulgaris on humoral immunity of Newcastle disease vaccine in broilers

Abstract

This study were done on broilers ( No. = 60 ) 1day old , divided in to 4 groups:- 1st & 2nd group were drenched with oily extract of Thymus vulgaris and Zingiber officinalis (dosage: 1000 mg/kg B.W) from both extract respectively using gavage needle for14 time each 48 hours and then this tow groups were vaccinated with Newcastle disease vaccine at 7 day of age orally, 3 rd group (control positive) were vaccinated only with Newcastle disease vaccine, while the 4th group considered as the (negative control ) (non treated) . the HI & ELISA tests are used for the titration of antibodies. the experiment continued for 28 days. The result showed significant increase in the antibodies titer of 2nd group in comparison with 3rd group. While there is no significant change of the antibodies titer between 1st & 3rd group. This result ensured that the effect of Zingiber Officinalis in the stimulating of immune system in comparison with Thymus Vulgaris. both extract in the 1st & 2nd group showed significant increasing of the body weight in comparison with 3rd group & the increasing of the body weight in the 2nd group is significantly higher than the 1st group.
