RECORDING AND REPORTING OF CLINICAL NURSING OBSERVATIONS IN MATERNITY WARDS AND LABOR ROOMS

Abstract

order to identify nurse midwives practice regarding reporting and recording of the clinical observations in Babylon Governorate hospitals. Purposive samples of (50) nurse-midwives were selected and interviewed according to a questionnaire constructed for the purpose of this study. The study concludes that nurse-midwives recording and reporting of clinical observation were unsatisfactory and affect the type of care given to patient. 47.5% of nurse-midwife do not record the clinical observation related patient status, None of nurse-midwives record the clinical observation concerning fetus status and 69.2% of nurse-midwives do not record the clinical observation concerning drug administration. The study recommend that an emphasis be put on practices related to recording and reporting process throughout special training programs designed to nurse-midwives and encourage them to do researches related to recoding and reporting
