EFFECT OF SELENIUM ON STIMULATION OF GONADOTROPIN RELEASE IN IMMATURE FEMALE MICE

Abstract

ABSTRACT: To investigate the effect of selenium (se) administration on gonadotropins , a total of (15)immature female mice were injected intraperitonealy with (0.001) mg selenium once daily untilappearance of full vaginal cornification. Control mice (n=15)were injected with normal saline .Result ,showed that appearance partial vaginal cornification was noticed 5days past (se) administration. Fullcornification was obtained on day 41of age .Serum changes in FSH,LH, and Estrogen were studied at theage of 41 days in all animals .Result showed that a significant (p<0.05) increase in serum level of bothgonadotropins and Estrogen in( se ) treated mice ,Result of the present investigation indicate (se) ability tostimulate gonadotropin in immature mice associated with increase level of FSH,LH, and Estrogen hormonewhich delayed the age of puberty in female mice .
