Abstract

During the period between January 2007 and December 2007 , a total of 68 Liza abu Fish , were collected from Al – wand river branch from Al-husainia river, Kerbala . These fishes ranged between 125 – 215 mm. in their total lengths , and 22.86 – 110.28g total weight . They were mainly found feeding on unidentified digested food ( 27.4% , 88.2% ,26.82 % ) according to the Points(P) , Frequency of Occurrence(O) and Important Ranking Index (IRI) methods respectively. It was noticed that higher points in Autumn season and the lower points in Summer season . Secondly , organic matters ( 19.9 % , 84.3% , 18.43% ) respectively , it was noticed that higher points in Spring and the lower points in Autumn season . Third, higher plants particles , recorded that higher points in Summer season and the lower points in Autumn season. Food items included also ; Diatoms, Green algae , Blue green algae , and other foods materials . It was recorded that higher feeding amplitude in Spring season (13.45 point fish ) and the lower feeding amplitude was recorded in Winter season (8.94 point fish ).
