Fingerprint Identification Using WAVELET Transform

Abstract

Biometric identification systems have been developed toachieve automatic identification of a person based on hisphysiological or behavioral characteristics. Biometric systemsare critical in a wide range of applications such as bankingsystem, E-commerce, smart cards, and access control to securesystem. Automatic fingerprint identification is one of the mostreliable biometric system, which is used for identifying persons.This study, aim is to design a fingerprint identification system,which is capable of identifying a fingerprint with high level ofaccuracy. Therefore, this system can be applied to a wide rangeof forensic applications.This study has proposed many algorithms for automaticfingerprint identification .The proposed algorithm based upon wavelet transform (fourlevels) feature extraction and minimum distance classifier(Euclidean distance ) to make fingerprint identification.
