Measuring user satisfaction for the Central Library  In Basra

Abstract

The research aimed at definition of inputs and requirements that should be available in public libraries and the services and activities that can be provided or carried out to attract users and undermine satisfaction and achieve the purpose of creation, also targeted to identify the characteristics of effective users of the Central Library General in Basra province and to identify the degree of satisfaction with library in terms of: - Location and the building and equipment, and personnel, and the group office, services and activities. Questionnaire was used to collect data from users who reached the library's (35) users. The results of the research that most of the users were male and campaign bachelor's degree and living conditions for the majority of users are moderate, has expressed his users satisfied with the location of the library and the demolished building and equipment, but they express dissatisfaction with the library with regard to providing for a restaurant or cafeteria appropriate for them, as was the mean (2.34), as well as what is available in the library of imaging devices and reproduction (2.94). The users expressed their satisfaction and high levels of staff in the library, also expressed satisfaction with the users and good grades for the library's collection except as provided from foreign periodicals and CD-ROMs. The users expressed satisfaction with the services provided by the library service with the exception of photography and reproduction and service drawing and coloring They also expressed satisfaction with the Library's activities. And left the research recommendations inter alia: the need for the Library to deliver services, expanded and established relationships with various institutions and organizations in Basra province, to invite the local government in Basra province to meet the needs of the Library of Finance to be able to supply their needs of the equipment, plant and equipment, must be a library the acquisition of audio-visual materials and the acquisition of CD-ROMs and subscription databases relevant to the concerns of users.
