The Motives of Simile in the Poetry of 'Urwa bin Alward

Abstract

This research is a rhetorical and analytic study of the simile in the poetry of 'Urwa bin Alward. It falls into two parts. The First Part studies the linguistic and conventional definition of the word 'motives.' It also discusses the agreement and disagreement of rhetoricians at the definition of the word. The Second Part studies analytically and rhetorically the motives of simile in the poetry of 'Urwa bin Alward, which shows its deep effect on his soul, and the misery of his life. The similes of the poet and their rhetorical issues show the depth of his experience in life and the vastness of his intellectual and artistic imagination
