The Quality of Well Waters within Five Villages Around Mosul Dam Lake

Abstract

The results of chemical analyses of well waters of five villages (Muhaiweer, Semahla, Ammar Bait, Ammar Kubar and Al-Sheehia) south of Mosul Dam lake have revealed that there are a large increase in the major elements concentrations beyond the specified limits. The reason is possibly due to the reduced rate of rain fall, dropping of lake water level, draught and the dissertation which all have occurred in the last few years. The results also revealed that these well waters are inadequate for other drenching and other uses. The waters have suffered a reduced quality below the allowed water standards. The range of natural pollution in (2009) is much more than the previous years.
