Cardiac Deformities in Thalassemia Major could be an Immune System Disorder

Abstract

β-Thalassemia: HiJAKing Ineffective Erythropoiesis and Iron OverloadLuca Melchiori, Sara Gardenghi, and Stefano Rivella*Thalassemia is genetically predisposed disorder. Patients in Al-Muthanna children and woman hospital showed that, 19 patients out of 29 Thalssemic patients suffering from cardiomegaly. The average age of the Thalssemic patients is 14 years. The age of the Thalassemic patients suffer from cardiac acromegaly is 11 years. The parameters studied are, lymphocytes and white blood cell (WBC) like Neutrophils and macrophages. The highest number of lymphocytes happened in age of 2 years male patient (75.1%), but the lowest was 32.1% in male patient aged 10 years. While WBC was 96.5 x 103 in 8 years male patients comparing to the normal control, ( 40% and White Blood Cells were, 16x103).
