The effect of replacing different levels of seasum meal by soybean meal on the production and some blood parameters of local rabbits

Abstract

The study were carried out to investigate the effect of replacing different levels of seasum meal instead of soybean meal in the rations, on the productive, blood serum and carcass traits of local rabbits.A total of 18 male rabbit of initial weight (525-536 gm) at the beginning of wearing age were distributed in to three groups (6 rabbits/ group) and treated for 8 weeks as follows: group one (control) fed the standard ration, the second and third groups were fed treatment which replaced 8 and 16% of soybean meal by seasum meal respectively. The results observed that replacing of seasum meal caused a significant improvement (P0.05) in most of productive and carcass traits, the improvement were increased linearly as the level of seasum meal raised in the ration. No significant effect were observed with respect of blood traits. Replacing of soybean meal by sesum meal caused a beneficial increase of net return. It is concluded from the study the potential of replacing soybean meal at the level of 16% by seasum meal in rations of rabbits
