Common Methodology Adopted by English Language Teachers in Counterpart Departments in Mosul University

Abstract

Language is a means by which human beings communicate with each other ( Al_Ni'aimi , 2004:1). As such, people learn a language in order to use it in real situations. This is so because much of the language we use in everyday life is motivated by a desire for self- expression, i.e. exchanging thoughts, feelings, and concepts as opposed to the mere conveying of information or getting things done ( Abdul-Fatah, 1997:8).Of the thousands of languages in the world, English is the most widely spoken as a mother tongue and taught as a foreign language (Al_Dulaimi: 2003,1).
