Abstract

This study aims at investigating the devices used ingenerating manipulation of meaning in politicaldiscourse. The study will investigate the devices used bypoliticians to manipulate the truth and achieve politicalaims. First, it will shed light on the theoretical ground onwhich this phenomenon is based. Then, it will investigatethe linguistic devices used to create this manipulation.The study will be limited to the lexical- semantic devicesused in this type of discourse. Also, it will pay moreattention to the term "democracy" in its investigationsince it is the most used in political communities, yet themost questionable one in its use among politicians.
