Abstract

This research tackles the subject of the Carnation Revolution and its impact on thegrowth of the national movement in East Timor . It began to study the CarnationRevolution in Portugal and its impact on The decolonization in the Portuguese coloniesas a prelude, Aafter that it covered the growth of political awareness and the emergenceof political parties and groups in East Timor, Then the emergence of competition andconflict between political entities, And a follow-up to this topic discussed the coalitionbetween Fretilin and UDT and the beginning of a new phase of the political process inEast Timor . It dealt with subject of decolonization and Macau Conference which wasthe last attempt to the Portuguese government for the decolonization in East Timorbefore the spread of violence and civil war in August 11, 1975.
