Abstract

ABSTRACTThe present study aimed at knowing the following:1. the favorite learning styles of students of the preparatory stage.2. The differences in the learning styles in accordance to the Sex variable (males-females).3. The differences in the learning styles in accordance to the Specialization variable (scientific - humanity). The research at the students of the preparatory stage in Kirkuk City during the academic year 2012/ 2013. In order to achieve these aims; the researchers has applied both research tools on a random class sample of (430) male and female students from the 4st and 5th and 6th in scientific and humanity disciplines, distributed upon (8) of the preparatory schools. The tool were represented by the Learning styles scale as the Kolb Designed by the researchers. The researchers have verified the objectivity of scale through finding coefficients of validity and reliability. To verify the findings; the researchers have used suitable statistical means including: T-test, Pearson correlation coefficient and SPSS. Findings have shown the following:- 1. The sample of the students differ in the magnitude of their preference for learning styles. That most prevalent learning styles among the study sample is the (Diverges Style, followed by Assimilators Style, then Accommodators Style, and finally the Converges Style. 2. No difference has been shown among students of learning styles in gender variable (male / female).3. A significant differences has been shown in all the Learning styles among variable (scientific / humanity) in favor of scientific.According to these results, the researcher has attained a number of suggestions and recommendations.
