Synthesis, characterization and Antimicrobial study of some new progesterone derivatives
Abstract
A series of chalcones and pyrimidine derivatives of progesterone, is described.The ten new steroidal chalcones (A1-A10) were synthesized through claisen-schmidt condensation reaction between progesterone and substituted benzakdehydes in presence of NaOH .The prymidine derivatives (A11-A20) were synthesized from the reaction of synthesized chalcones with urea in basic medium . All synthesized compounds were characterized through their physica land spectral data .The antibacterial activity were evaluated for the chalcones against four different kinds of bacteria compared with ciefixin as standard drug.
