The phenomenon of symbolic clichés in the contemporary Iraqi Poetry

Abstract

Symbolism is an inspiring tool and is one of the most outstanding ways of illustrating the poetry. The contemporary poet with his diligence tries it to explore the underlying rhetorical langue usage maybe the peril which threatens the symbolism are the clichés that rotates round the signified subject therefore with repetitive use of clichéd symbolism it turns in to a usual and simple language feature which becomes mechanical, like the overused and dilapidated similes in rhetorical language that there is no need to delve into the underlying meaning. And the concept is crystal clear. In this regard symbolism loses its originality and authenticity and technical value. An important out come of this research will be a comprehensive viewpoint about clichéd symbolism and the epidemic use of it by the contemporary Iraqi poets and the method used in this work is descriptive-analytical analysis.
