Abstract

This study deals with the analysis of the nature of Turkish-Israeli relations since the AKP took power in Turkey in 2002 and until 2013.The study found that despite talk about the tension in the relations between the two countries since 2002, and the opposing stand of the Turkish decision-makers to all Israeli policies in the region, and the policy of Turkish criticism to Israel and its policies, which have become a prominent feature of the Turkish politicians in various international and regional forums and even in the election campaigns of the Interior, which has had a positive important impact in the image of Turkey both in the Arab and a Muslim worlds, through which the Turkish government was able to reformulate their strategies and foreign policy in dealing with regional neighboring countries, whose relations with them were characterized in previous periods by tension or lack of cooperation at the very least, so that the tension in the relations with Israel and the policy of criticism of the Israeli practices, became one of the most important means of Turkish foreign policy in winning the support of public opinion, both at the domestic level and Arabic and Islamic scopes,thus causing an increase in Turkey's regional status, and increased its presence in all Arab and Islamic issues throughout the period of this study.But,during the review and analysis of the nature of the Turkish-Israeli relations during that period,we note that the relations between the two countries has grown and developed in many areas, regardless the policy of criticism and dissatisfaction with the Israeli practices by the Turkish government on several occasions,which indicates the dimension of rhetorical and propaganda in Turkish foreign policy,and mismatches between the declared Turkish speech and the realism of Turkish politics in regional and international relations.
