تحديد المواسم المطرية الرطبة والجافة في العراق وامكانية التنبؤ بها

Abstract

Water resources in Iraq experienced a continual decrease, while the demand on them increases. It is expected that the water available to the individual will wane at an average of third over the next twenty years. Rains are considered as the most important rainfall forms in Iraq and they form a sensitive element in human-economic life as a result of Iraq's lands poverty of surface water due to lessening their water shares of the Tigris and Euphrates water due to many reasons . All this is added to the local climate in which the drought is extended for a period more than two thirds of the year, and in which the temperature rises so that the quantities of annual evaporation surpass the amount of annual rain quantities double times; therefore, our research aim to identifying and analyzing the humidity and drought seasons by using (SPI , Standard Precipitation Index) technique, a technique newly applied in the country to 14 climatic stations , using rain amounts data for at least two climatic cycles .The results showed that most seasons were dry in all stations , Nasiria station had the highest frequency of wet seasons with 16.9 % whereas Kirkuk station had the lowest frequency with 8.5 % of all its seasons .
