Abstract

This work was focused on the preoarated of tetradentate Schiff bases which were prepared by condensation of terephtalaldehyde and diPhenyl dialdehyde with 2-amino phenol. The Schiff base ligands were identified by different spectral technique (GC-MS, 1H-NMR, IR).The influences of shaking time on the extraction of Cu (II) using solvent extraction technique was studied. Kinetic parameters [(n) reaction order, (K) reaction rate constant, (t1/2) reaction half time] were calculated.

Abstract

In this work we focused on the synthesis of new Open Schiff bases which were prepared by condensation of salicylaldehyde with both 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl methane,4,4'-diamino diphenyl sulphide,and by condensation of O-vanilin with diethyl ester of terephthalic acid respectively.Also new macrocyclic Schiff Bases were prepared by condensation of 1,6-bis(2-formylphenyl)hexane with thiocarbohydrazid.The Schiff bases were checked by different spectral technique (LC-MS, 1H-NMR, IR). The work was extended to study the effect of the prepared compounds on four different bacteria in order to test there biological activity

Abstract

Simple and sensitive batch and Flow-injecton spectrophotometric methods (FIA) for the determination of Sodium Cefotaxime in pure form and in injections were proposed. These methods were based on a diazotization and coupling reaction between diazotized Sodium Cefotaxime and thymol in alkaline medium to form an intense red water-soluble dye that is stable and has a maximum absorption at 522 nm. A graphs of absorbance versus concentration show that Beer’s law is obeyed over the concentration range of 8-160 and 50-2500 µg.ml-1 of Sodium Cefotaxime, with detection limits of 1.56 and 1.32 µg.ml-1 of Sodium Cefotaxime for batch and FIA methods respectively. The FIA procedure sample throughput was 65 h-1. All different chemical and physical experimental parameters affecting on the development and stability of the colored product studied and the proposed methods were applied successfully on the determination of Sodium Cefotaxime injections preparations.

Abstract

Eight liquid culture medium formulations were evaluated for their efficiency in enhancing some growth parameters (sporulation and biomass dry weight) of Beauveria bassiana after1, 2, 3 and 4days of incubation at 28±1C°. The formulations consist of saline solution (S), carbon source (8g/litre) and nitrogen source (0.33g/litre) as individually or as mixture of both sources with a C: N ratio of 24:1. These formulations were ; rice grains extract and casein (CRM), rice grains extract and yeast extract (YRM) , wheat seeds extract (CWM) and wheat seeds extract and yeast extract (YWM), rice grains extract (RM),yeast extract(YM), wheat seeds extract(WM), casein(CM).In other hand the spores viability were evaluated on selected medium CRM comparising with their viability on S,RM,CM after 1,2,3,4 and 8 days of incubation at 28±1C°. The results showed that the CRM was statistically in increasing the spore yield(133.3x105spore/ml) and dry weight (16mg/ml) after 4 days of incubation, while CWM and YM were less efficient for fungal sporulation (60.8x105spore/ml) and dry weight increment (5.54mg/ml), respectively at the same time of incubation. CRM was ideal for high percent viability (63%) compared with RM (42.9%), CM (41.5%) and S (20.1%).

Abstract

Enterotoxin produced by local isolate of Yersinia enterocolitica was purified from the culture supernatant .The purification procedure involved precipitation by ammonium sulfate (50% saturation ) and analyzed by sodium dodecyl sulfate- poly acrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), ( 159.4) fold purification was achieved with yield of (17.9)%. The molecular weight of purified enterotoxin was 11,000 Dalton. The purified enterotoxin was heat stable at 100 оC for 15 min, and the activity was lost after incubation with 3mM dithiotheritol as reducing agent. Enterotoxic activity of Y. enterocolitica was neutralized by antiserum from mice immunized with the purified enterotoxin .The inhibitory activity of Eruca sativa extracts was tested, both seed and leave extracts had inhibitory activity in a dose- dependent manner

Abstract

Seven carbon sources; Glucose,Sucrose,Soluble starch,Pectine,Dibis,Wheat seeds extract and Rice grains extract extract individually incorporated in different liquid media were evaluated for their effects on sporulation,percent of spores germination and fungal biomass dry weight of entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana for four incubation periods ;1,2,3 and 4days at 28±1c. Carbon used in the basal medium as 8g/l.The results showed that glucose,rice grains extract,wheat seeds extract were significantely superior(p<0.05) to induce the fungal sporulation which recorded 67,69,68×10 5spore/ml after 4 days of incubation, respectively.Soluble starch was more efficiency for spores germination,whereas the percent of spores germination was 24.3 after 4 days of incubation. Rice grains extract increased significantly the dry weight of fungus which recorded 0.507g/ml after 4days of incubation.Pectine,soluble starch,sodium nitrate,methionin and glycin were less efficiency for biomass production(0.2g/50ml).

Abstract

K.oxytoca bacteria was isolated from patients with urinary tract infection [UTI]from both sexes and at different ages and were identified by biochemical tests .the isolates were sensive to Amikicin Nitrofurantion and Ticarcillin Clavulinic acid and resistant to β-lactam antibiotics The isolate that gave highest percentage of resistant to antibiotics was used for LPS extraction by phenol-hot water method. LPS partial purification by gel filtration on Sepharose Cl-6B-200 showed that the percentage of carbohydrate in the partially purified LPS was 26.6% and percentage of binding protein was 0.06% and no nucleic acid was found. The LD50 of the bacteria and LPS was determined by injection of the male mice, it was 3.16X 106 cfu for bacteria and 266 μg/ml for LPS.

Abstract

The effect of spices mixture on blood glucose and lipids profile in oxidative stress rabbits was studied. Twenty female rabbits were randomly divided into four groups (five animals in each group). The first group was subjected to oxidative stress by the ad libitum supply of drinking water containing 0.5% H2O2. The second group was supplied with pellets containing 20% spices mixture. The spices mixture is composed of cinnamon, turmeric and cumin powder. The third group was subjected to H2O2 (0.5%) and supplied with pellets containing 20% spices mixture. The last group was considered as control and supplied with pellets and water. The period of experiment was lasted for 21 days. The results showed that there was a significant (P<0.05) decrease in glucose, cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL-C and VLDL-C concentration, except HDL-C concentration which increased significantly (P<0.05) in the groups exposed with spices mixture and spices mixture + hydrogen peroxide compared with stress animals. In conclusion, this study revealed that the supplementation of diets with moderate amounts of spices mixture might have some beneficial effects in oxidative stress conditions and reducing the risk of diabetes and atherosclerosis diseases through improving glucose and lipid metabolism. Therefore, the active materials in these natural plants might extract and use in diabetes and atherosclerosis drug industry from natural resources.

Abstract

Maize (Zea mays L.) seeds were subjected to accelerated aging treatment for, 3, 7, and 14 days at 45 ±1 C° and 100% relative humidity. These artificially aged seeds were compared to control (Unaged seeds) for evaluation of vigor in seeds. Accelerated aging of Maize seeds up to three days had significant effect on germination percentage & solute leakage. However, further increase in aging period caused an increased in solute leakage and a decrease in germination percentage. Germinability was lost completely at 14 days of accelerated aging. In addition, the reduction in germination percentage was correlated with decrease in seedling length, germination speed index, seed vigor index, seedling fresh & dry weight. Finally, the results revealed that accelerated aging caused depression of maize seeds viability through the above parameters.

Abstract

Cell-mediated immunity was estimated in diabetic patients by evaluation a level of CD4 and CD8 in type 1 and 2 diabetic patients. Of the 33 patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus 17 were males and 16 were females, as well as the type 2 diabetes mellitus patients were made up of 17 males and 16 females. Both groups attend the outpatient Clinic in the National Diabetes Center, Al-Mustansiriya University. Besides that, the results of this study recorded that the mean of age among patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus was 23.42 ± 4.25 y whereas mean of age among second group was 51.27± 7.83 y with highly significant difference was noticed between them. In addition, the result of this study indicated that duration of disease among type1diabetic patients was 7.15± 2.55 y while 11.45± 6.49 y among second group with highly significant difference was noticed between them. For CD4 lymphocytes, there was a highly significant decrease (P<0.001) in the percentage means of the CD4 cells in type2 diabetic patients, as compared with type 1 diabetic patients. For CD8 lymphocytes, there was a decrease in the percentage of these lymphocyte in the peripheral blood of the type 2 diabetic patients, as compared with type 1 diabetic patients with highly significant importance was recorded between them. In conclusion, this study proved that impaired cell mediated immunity is prevalent in type 2diabetic patients, thus the change level of cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (CD8) and helper T- lymphocytes (CD4) might be responsible for depressed immune response in patients with type 2 diabetes

Abstract

The protective effect of red cabbage extracts against hyperthyroid induced by L-thyroxine in male rabbits was studied. Forty animals were divided randomly into four groups. Group A: Healthy rabbits, Group B: Healthy rabbits received (100 mg/kg.b.w) red cabbage extract, Group C: hyperthyroid rabbits were given an oral dose of (20µg/kg b.w) L-thyroxine once daily for four weeks to induce hyperthyroidism and group D: hyperthyroid rabbits received red cabbage extract. At the end of the experiment, blood samples were taken for biochemical analysis. The obtained results revealed that hyperthyroid rabbits induced by L-thyroxine had significant increase(P<0.01) in serum levels of triodothyronine (T3), Thyroxine (T4), lipid peroxidation marker malondialdehyde (MDA), as well as significant decrease in reduced glutathione (GSH), glutathione peroxidase (GPX), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) enzymes, compared to the normal control group. Oral administration red cabbage extract caused significant reduction in serum levels of T3, T4 as well as MDA and produced significant increase in thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), GSH, GPX, SOD and CAT, compared to the positive group. Red cabbage treatment suppresses the hyperthyroidism-induced oxidative damage. These results suggest that experimental hyperthyroidism is accompanied with increased oxidative stress and with the consumption of antioxidant enzymes in induced oxidative aggressions. A protective effect of red cabbage extract on oxidative stress induced by excessive administration of thyroid hormones were detected and for the first time anti hyperthyroid activity was observed.

Abstract

Extraction of curcumin pigment as dyestuff and Antibacterial agent from Tumeric (Curcuma xanthorrhizia) tubers was studied .also, the Qualitative chemical tests was done for determine active materials in crud turmeric extract. The curcumin pigment was isolated and partially scrubbed by using organic solvents. Detection by HPLC and TLC proved the isolated pigment is Curcumin with partial purity compared to the standard curcumin. The curcumin showed ahigh efficiency of dyeing for scoured cotton fabric at concentration 25% of curcumin and active biological effect against Gram – positive pathogenic bacteria with large inhibition zones from 12mm to 33mm by using Agar wells diffusion method. The results proved ability of curcumin on dyeing of cotton cloth fabric and antibacterial activity against bathogenic bacteria.

Abstract

A number of Lnx Oy rare-earth oxides where Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Tb, Dy and Er, x=1, 2, 4, 6 and y=2, 3, 7, 11 have been studied by powder diffractometry and pycnometry coupled with the simulation of their lattice dimensions by empirically derived pair potentials using the GULP code. Crystallographic analysis showed the oxides exist in the tri, tetra and mixed tri-tetra valency with Bravias lattices: hexagonal- P, cubic- I and cubic- F as a result of the oxidation state assumed by the Ln element that may be caused by the nature of the oxide or preparation process involved. Unit cell volumes of the oxides that exhibit identical Bravias lattices reflect a behavior that can be correlated with the atomic number of the Ln element whereby it decreases linearly by uncertainty not exceeding ca. 3%. The average bond lengths of Ln - O polyhedra in the sesquioxides (Ln2 O3) space group Ia3 also follow suit. The behavior is interpreted on a phenomenon known as lanthanide contraction.

Abstract

Structural and mechanical properties for lead-tin alloy have been studied by employing the X-Ray diffraction methods and Vickers microhardness test. Three samples were obtained, the first standard lead- tin sample, the second form recyleled ingot of the alloy and the third prepared from the powder of recyeled ingot that was vacuum capsuled and treated at 800 oC for 3 hours.The X-Ray diffraction spectra of both recycled ingot and prepared alloy showed the appearance of a new stable phase of tin oxide (SnO) with the tin (Sn) phase appear in preferred orientation dictated by the technical route of preparation. Furthermore the grain size of lead and tin phases were nearly identical though in the tin oxide phase, the grain size decreases to half of that to lead and tin due to the defective nature of the SnO phase. Microhardness test on the three samples reveal an increase in the mechanical strength as a result of the presence of tin oxide phase that acts as a mechanical strengthener via dispersion strengthening.

Abstract

Dielectric constant ( ) over the frequency range 1KHz-1MHz and thermal conductivity (k) have been measured for high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polystyrene (PS) (with thicknesses 1.6 and 1.1 mm respectively and all with diameter 3.2 cm), in the temperature range 30-110°С, It has been found that the dielectric constant is almost frequency independent and slightly temperature dependent, this reveals the fact that these polymers are non-polar. However, there was a significant effect of temperature on the thermal conductivity of the samples, especially at Tg of PS and Tm of HDPE.

Abstract

Surface and Groundwater's has an associated hydrological relationship affected by deferent factors related to Geological, Hydrological and Climatic conditions where these factors control the circumstances of groundwater movement in shallow aquifers as well as the quantity of water can be gained or lost from the aquifer and river. In Badra - Jassan basin, the main River is Galal Badra which flows from inside Iranian territory with two tributaries and discharge water in Al- Shuacha marshes to the south , most of river water depends on water gained from inside Iranian territory. Part of the groundwater discharge to the river basin in specific areas according to the topography of the river valley as well as height of groundwater level in the shallow aquifer above the surface water in the river. At the same time the shallow aquifer which consist of layers and deposits of gravel, sand and silt gained water from river in certain locations, where groundwater quality has changed according to levels of Natural Nutrition to be similar to chemical quality of surface water in those sites. Recharge and discharge levels of groundwater within the river has determined by drawing a hydrogeological section along the river and study of the hydrochemical characteristics of groundwater and surface water in the basin.

Abstract

The main objective of the present work is to find, locate and delineate some subsurface morphological structures at area near Haqlanyiah town lying in the western part of Iraq, either as an isolated karst cavity features or as buried channel features by using three different geophysical methods, representing by electromagnetic conducting method, VLF-Radiohm electromagnetic resistivity method and electrical resistivity method with horizontal profiling using wenner array. The study area accupies an area (100x300m) and the survey was carried out along thirty one traverses with (10m) separation and (10m) grid interval. The elaborated field data were subjected to the process of analysis, a great coincidence between method results is obtained, then the results show a presence of two anomalous zones in which its characteristic features gave an indication of a presence two possible elongated concealed channels trending in two different directions as in E-W and NW-SE

Abstract

The area which located along the road between the Karbalaa and Najaf cities is one of the important areas in terms of hydrogeological view due to containing the groundwater reservoirs of sandy Debdebba and Dammam limestone formations. The exposed part of the Sandy Debdibba formation helps to renew its water and maintenance of groundwater storage through the infiltration of rainfall and surface floods. The groundwater movement in this reservoir flows from west towards east and south-east direction, while the quality of groundwater in this reservoir is characterized to be highly concentrated with dissolved salts which are generally ranged between (2000) to (4700) PPM.

Abstract

Weibull distribution is one of the most widely used distributions of lifetime in reliability engineering. It has the ability to provide reasonably accurate failure analysis and failure forecasts especially with extremely small samples. Bayesian approach has received a lot of attention along with the traditional methods of estimation such as maximum likelihood and moment estimation methods. The object of the present paper is to compare some Bayes' estimators for the scale Parameter of the Weibull reliability function using different loss functions, based on Jeffrey prior information for estimating the scale parameter of Weibull distribution. The comparison was based on a Monte Carlo study. Through the simulation study comparison was made on the performance of these estimators with respect to the mean square error (MSE) and the mean percentage error (MPE). The results of comparison by MSE showed that the Weibull reliability function based upon squared error loss function was the best followed by the modified El- Sayyad's loss function. While comparison by MPE showed the reverse

Abstract

We consider the general nonlinear regression problem . A survey of some classical methods and stochastic approximation procedures for estimating is first given. We solve the nonlinear regression problem by considering the optimal stochastic approximation procedure by [3],[4]. This leads us to introduce a new procedure , called "Stochastic Approximation Iterative Least Square Procedure" SA -ILS procedure. The new procedure is applied to a number of nonlinear regression models. We report on the results of a simulation investigation which indicate that the new procedure is highly efficient with respect to the number of observations required to obtain the parameter estimates for given regression problem.

Abstract

In this paper we study a spectral characterization of the Taylor-Browder spectrum for a double commuting n − tuple of totally θ −operators, and study relation between the Taylor- Weyl spectrum, Taylar- Browder spectrum, joint-Weyl spectrum, and joint- Browder spectrum for commuting n − tuple of totally θ −operators. Also we study a spectral characterization of the Taylor-Browder spectrum for a doubly commuting n − tuple of posinormal operators.

Abstract

Let R be an associative ring with identity and M be unital non zero R-module. A submodule N of a module M is called a semismall submodule of M (briefly N << S M) if N = 0 or for each nonzeror submodule K of N, N / K << M / K. In this work,we study this kind of submodule of M and the modules which is satisfies the ascending chain condition (a. c. c.) and descending chain condition (d. c. c.) on semismall submodules .Then we generalize the Rad(M) into s- Rad(M) ,It is equale to the sum of all semismall submodule of M . We show that if N not semismall submodule of M.Then s-Rad (N) = N∩s-Rad (M)and we discuss some of the basic properties of this types of submodules.

In this paper , we introduce some results in a prime -ring M with centralizer which is related to the quotient -ring Q of M, and prove our main result; Let M be a prime -ring with char M  2, U a non-zero right ideal of M and T1 and T2 two non-zero centralizers of M. Abstract

Mullineux in 1979 presented two researches taking in them some special methods of the partition theory, as he represented a kind of a special partition a mathematical sense without any proof of it. Fayers in 2009 presented it with its conditions adding another type pf partition and called the two partitions of Mullineux. The main aim of our work is to find a suitable partition for the equivalence of these two partitions, where this equivalence is not always occurred.

Abstract

In this paper, impulse noise detector found in an image by using Laplacian-Gaussian filter is proposed. The LG filter used for smoothing the noise in image. The flat parts of contour, detected by a set of different threshold for noise detected to perform the task of removing impulse noise. Finally, based on the genetic algorithm, the genetic learning the process adjusts the parameters of image base. Based on the criteria of Peak Signal to Noise Ratio(PSNR), Mean Square Error(MSE) and Mean Absolute Error(MAE) to achieves a better performance that proposed method performs significantly better than traditional methods.

Abstract

Proliferation of network systems and growing usage of Internet make network security issue to be more important. Intrusion detection is an important factor in keeping network secure. The main aim of intrusion detection is to classify behavior of a system into normal and intrusive behaviors. However, the normal and the attack behaviors in networks are hard to predict as the boundaries between them cannot be well distinct. This paper presents an algorithm for intrusion detection that combines both fuzzy C Means (FCM) and FCM for symbolic features algorithms in one. Experimental results on the Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining Cup 1999 (KDD cup 99) intrusion detection dataset show that the average detection rate of this algorithm is 99%. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm is able to distinguish between normal and attack behaviors with high detection rate.

Abstract

In this research, the ground temperature was calculated within a part of the province of Sulaymaniyah - northern Iraq, using the thermal bands(low acquisition, and high acquisition thermal bands) of the ETM+ sensor mounted in the LANDSAT 7 satellite. Practically, a linear profile within Dukan Lake (province of Sulaymaniyah) , has been indicated, and the temperature degree for its pixel has been calculated from both low acquisition and high acquisition thermal bands, this process has been implemented utilizing ERDAS Imagine 9.2 software package; the obtained results indicate that there is a significant convergence between the values of temperature calculated from both thermal bands indicating the accuracy of the adopted Mathematical Model in the calculation . In the second part of the work, the distribution of temperature degree over the study region has been extracted as a raster map. By averaging both low gain and high gain thermal bands.

Abstract

In this study is the phenomenon of desertification risk assessment in the Abu Ghraib area west of Baghdad / Iraq, which has an area of about (384.168 km 2), that the annual mean temperature is more than (22 C °). Rainfall was low, ranging from the (200 mm) per year for Iraq and (2.82) mm per year of the study area * temperature is high and evaporation is also high (mm 7.73) per year *, so the climate in general of the dry type and the system of soil moisture is the kind of Aridic ( Torric). To this study was to identify three indicators to monitor for the period from 2001 - 2005 using GIS and these indicators are (soil, groundwater and the nature of land use), using ArcGIS 9.1. The results showed that the risk of desertification was part of the level observed in three out of five and the other areas are also within the level significantly, but to a lesser extent, it is possible to enter the top level if no aids by the authorities responsible for combating desertification and land degradation. *This data is the annual rate for the period (2001 to 2005).

Abstract

Landsat-7 Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) sensor offers several enhancements over the Landsat-5 Thematic Mapper (TM) sensors, including increased spectral information content, improved geodetic accuracy, reduced noise, reliable calibration, and matching scenes were recorded by both, and improved spatial resolution of the thermal band. In this paper, we present some comparisons between Landsat-7 ETM+ and Landsat-5 TM imagery in order to quantify these improvements. Practically, we find that the ETM+ continues the record of TM observations, and, in many respects, substantially improves upon the earlier sensor. Specific improvements include lower spatial noise levels, improved information content, and geodetic accuracy of systematically corrected products to 50–100 m. These improvements are likely benefits for land-cover mapping and change detection applications
