Abstract

Abstract For public expenditures several effects in various purposes, political, social and economical in all countries, Iraq one them it is possible for these expenditures to be contribute in desired changes if they could be employed by a way& coming back with advantage aims for society and economics. This research try to clarified the effect of public expenditures at a general level of price in Iraq, then it be clear by the research there was alternate effects between the two variable so it must give an appropriate interest to reach the particular requested aims from increase public expenditures size and avoid or decrease harmful reflections to take into consideration that public expenditures seems as weapon with two borders so it is useful when employ in appropriate fronts and quantities but it perhaps give disadvantage results when it employ in a bad way.

Abstract

Hundred female students were randomly selected from the four class levels (1st,2nd,3rd, and 4th of the various colleges of jadiriyah complex. Their ages range from 19-30 years their body weight indicator was obtained after taking their height and weight as well as looking over their health status. As for the nutritional behavior, it was obtained via a questionnaire prepared for this purpose. The survey results show that females of the age 22-24 years scored the highest increase percentage in weight amounted to 54.83% whereas those of the age 25-27 years scored the lowest increase in weight. As for obesity, the females of the age 25-27 years scored the highest percentage which was 65% while those of the age 22-24 years scored the lowest rate which was 46.14%. As far as the nutritional behavior is concerned, it was found out that 15% of the samples had their breakfast regularly while 78% ate snacks and light meals regularly. As for milk and dairy products, vegetables and fruit regular consumption, the percentages were 23%, 17% and 22%, 88% and 65% of those female students had sweets and soft drinks. The percentage of consumed meat regularly was 86%. 82% of female students did not practice sports. The survey came up with the fact that 40% of these students suffer from arthritis, 35% suffer from Anemia, 15% suffer from Gout and 10% suffer from Diabetes. In light of these results raising the nutritional awareness is recommended among students concerning nutritional behavior through health education programs and reading health bulletinsas well as urging students to practice physical activity.

Abstract

This study was included the effectiveness of the Terpenes extract from Eucalyptus camaldulensis leaves in to the pupa stage for Lesser grain borer Rhyzopertha dominica in two ages 24 and 72 hours under conditions at temperature 30±2 Cº and relative humidity 65±5%, research has included three test concentrations 3, 5 and 7% (g/100 ml), the concentration 7% gave higher rate of killing 25% of the age 24h. compared with other concentrations, whereas the age 72h. have equal rates of kill by 30% to both concentrations 5 and 7% with increase in the proportion of total partial emergence and distortions 45% and decreases to 40% to pupae at 24 hours.

Abstract

Phenolic compounds and active compounds were extracted from the cinnamon in an attempt to produce a drug of vegetable origin for the diabetes of treatment. the results showed the water extract of cinnamon contained (Phenols, flavonoids, tannins, glycosides, coumarins, resins, alkaloids, terpenes, and saponin). Cinnamon effective groups phenolic, Aldahid, Esturian, hydrocarbon, alcohol and carbocsilic compounds were diagnosed by using Infrared spectroscopy (IR). Morever the half deadly dose (LD50) was also examined by testing the toxicity of on cinnamon extract. Rats were used as laboratory animals in conducting the experiments. The rats were fed by the dose (100, 200, 300, 500 mg/ kg of body weight). The results have shown that there is no toxic effect in the cinnamon extract. Similar concentrations were used to determine the effective dose of the extracts in reduces the level of glucose in the blood of healthy animals. It is noticed, that the dose of (300) mg/kg of the animal body weight has proved to be the most decreased efficient as it decreased. and after the expiry of the experiment for peroid 30 days of induced diabetes for alloxan and cinnamon extract and Aldaanal treatmed for been animals fasting 18 hours for the measuring the level of glucose in the blood serum of animals has been showin low level of glucose in the serum, a significant decrease following giving cinnamon extract comparison with the control group (the infected) and predominete Aldaanal treated group. Biochemical tests showed the concentration of each the following went down cholesterol (TC), Triglyseride (TG), low density lipoprotein (LDL- C) in the group wihch were treated with cinnamon extract in comparison with the positive groups (infected) throughout the duration and (30) days and predominate Aldaanal treated group. while the high density lipoprotein (HDL-C) level increased in cinnamon extract group But (HDL-C) concentration level decreased in the control group (infected), extract has be proven for Efficiency of treatment. Concentrations of enzymes (GOT) and (GPT) were measured to determine the function of liver where by their levels went up during the duration (15) days with all the groups treated. However, after the (30) days the levels went down in both groups of rats which were treated whith extract of cinnamon compared with two groups, the control (positive) and the Aldaanal.

Abstract

The study includes isolation and identification of Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans form cases of skin infections and evaluation the inhibitory effect of Thuja occidentalis extract by measurement the inhibition zone and Phenol coefficient. The identification of bacteria and fungi was carried out by morphological, cultural and biochemical tests. Forty seven isolates of S. aureus , 31 isolates of C. albicans and 26 isolates of mixed infection were recovered from 104 positive swaps taken from cases of skin infections. All isolates were submitted to sensitivity testes to antibiotic and it was found that S. aureus isolates exhibited complete resistance to Ampicillin, Tetracycline, Gentamicin, Rifampicin, Ceftriaxon, Cefalexin, Trimethoprim, Streptomycin and Neomycin. While C. albicans isolates exhibited complete resistance to Miconazol, Clotrimazole and Ketoconazole. The results of phenol coefficient revealed that the effect of the Thuja occidentalis extracts have higher effect on S. aureus and C. albicans in comparison with phenol. The outcomes of measurement the inhibition zone indicated height antimicrobial activity of Thuja occidentalis extract reached to 29 and 38 mm against S. aureus and 23 and 31 mm against C. albicans at concentration 40 and 50% respectively.

Abstract

The effect of different doses of laser on some biological aspects of Drosophila melanogaster exposed as larvae of 3days and pupa of 1days old were studied . Both laser have significant effect on the larvae, pupa period emerged adults and life span of emerged adult. The result showed that the percentage of death in larva exposed to radiation were 5, 10, 5, 30, 25, 25 and 30% when exposed to doses 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 minutes respectively compared to control 0%, the number of adults emerging were 75,55,85,45,25,40 and 45% respectively compared to control 100%. The pupa to doses of radiation 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 minutes reach the percentage of death of 5, 25, 25, 15, 15 and 30% respectively compared to control 0% and emergence percentage of natural adult of 85, 65, 75, 80, 85 and 70% respectively compared with control was 100%.

Abstract

Environmental Pollution is considered the one of The most important problems that facing the world in all its countries because of its negative effects on all organisms that live on the earth. This calls as to thinking about solutions that minimize the effects of that problem and control on it. The porpoise of this study is to use of statistical approaches (multiple comparison in experimental design) to analyze the effects of polluted air in secretion of fibrin factor which helps to blood clotting in mice. A real data was obtained when the mice injected by different concentrations of pollutants 1.5 micro later, 2 micro Later and 2.5 micro later, the results of statistical analysis show a significant differences due to the use of these pollutants, the study also concluded the main conclusions and recommendations.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action or both. The chronic hyperglycemia of diabetes is associated with long-term damage and dysfunction of kidneys, nerves, heart, and blood vessels. Materials& Methods: colorimetric analysis had been applied for glucose concentration, ALP, Ca, CRP test as well as ESR*. Results& Conclusions: There is a significant increase in (glucose, ESR, ALP) level in diabetic patients as compared to the control group (P< 0.0001), but no significant difference in (Ca and CRP levels) in diabetic patients as compared to the control group.There is a significant increase difference between (type1& type 2) diabetic patients & control group in (Glucose and ALP level). There is no significant difference between patients with type1& type 2 in (Glucose, ESR, ALP, Ca, CRP levels). There is no significant correlation between (Glucose, ESR, ALP, Ca, CRP level) between patients duration (<5) & duration (5– 10) years. There is a significant positive correlation between (Glucose, ESR, Ca, CRP level) in diabetic patients with duration of the disease (duration <5) &( duration >10) years, there is a weak significant positive correlation in (Glucose, ESR, CRP level) in diabetic patients with duration of the disease between patients (duration 5- 10)& (duration >10) years. Also a significant positive correlation between (Ca level) in diabetic patients with duration of the disease between patients (duration 5- 10)& (duration >10) years.

Abstract

This study was designed to evaluate the role of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium as a causative pathogen in hospitalized diarrhoeal patients younger than five years old, extract and purify endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide; LPS) from isolated and identified S. Typhimurium, and determine the immunogenic activity (humoral and cellular immune responses) of LPS-liposome conjugate in albino male mice. The patients (95 cases) were admitted to the Central Pediatric Hospital and Al-Kadhiymiah Pediatric Hospital in Baghdad during the period 24/10/2010 - 30/11/2010, because of severe diarrhoea and fever. Bacterial evaluation of stool samples revealed the identification of two (2.1%) S. Typhimurium isolates (S1 and S2). Antibiotic sensitivity test demonstrated that S1 isolate was more resistance than S2 isolate; therefore it was considered more virulent and subjected for extraction and purification of LPS. Chemical characterization of the extracted LPS revealed that the carbohydrate content was 2.34 mg/ml, while the protein concentration was very low (0.52 μg/ml). Partial purification of extracted LPS by using gel-filtration chromatography (Sephacryl S200) showed three peaks, and after determination of protein and carbohydrate concentrations for each peak, peak two was observed to have the highest carbohydrate content (25%) and the lowest contaminated protein (0.001%). The LPS of this peak was immunologically evaluated in mice at a concentration of 100 μg/ml, alone or in conjugation with a commercially available liposome (LIP). These evaluations revealed that LPS-LIP conjugate was able to modulate the humoral and cellular immune responses against live S. Typhimurium.

Abstract

Methanolic extracts of different parts of Glycyrrhiza glabra L. (roots with rhizomes, stems, leaves and seeds), were tested for antibacterial and antifungal activities. Antibacterial study performed against six bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus, Escherishia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi and Shigella dysenteriae), and antifungal activity performed against one fungus (Candida albicans). The effect of the extracts was tested separately using Agar- well diffusion method. Indicated that investigated plant parts have potent activity against all microorganisms especially at 2.5 and 2.0 µg/ml. the inhibition zone in seeds extract reached 37& 35 mm for bacteria S. aureus and B. cereus respectively, by compared with Streptomycin and also reached in seeds extract 20 mm for fungus by compared with Nystatin. Also the results showed that seeds extract have a good effect as antibacterial while the roots extract showed a best effects from other extracts as antifungus.
