Abstract

The effect of alcoholic extract (2%,4%, 12%) and the fruits aqueous extract (12%,15%,25%,35%) of Melia azedarach and actellic insecticide of 0.01 concentration were tested on the second instar larvae ofOryzaephilus surinamensis .The obtained resuls were reveated that the highest kill ratio 80% at the concentration 12% of the alchoholic extract and 85% of the aqueous extract this was reflected effect abstracts on low rate of age adult emerging of larve treated and low productivity

Abstract

The present expermint was designed to determine the effect of Sodium Selenite (0.5 mg/kg) and Vitamin A (10 mg/kg) in FSH and LH level in Albino Male Mice treated with Hexavalent Chromium (1000 ppm). `This study included 48 mice divided into six groups (1st group treated with distilled water and the 2nd group treated with Sesame Oil were considered as control group, 3th group exposed to Hexavalent chromium , 4th group treated with Sodium Selenite and exposed to Hexavalent Chromium , 5th group treated with Vitamin A and exposed to Hexavalent Chromium and 6th group treated with Sodium Selenite and Vitamin A and exposed to Hexavalent Chromium ) . The treatment lasted for 35 days. The results showed a significant (P ˂ 0.05) decrease in FSH and LH levels in 3rd group that exposed to Hexavalent Chromium as compared with two control groups. The results of the group that treated with Sodium Selenite and exposed to Hexavalent Chromium showed a significant (P ˂ 0.05) increase in FSH and LH levels as compared with group that exposed to Hexavalent Chromium. The group treated with Vitamin A and exposed to Hexavalent Chromium revealed significant (P ˂ 0.05) increase in FSH and LH levels when compared to the group exposed to Hexavalent Chromium . The last group that treated with Sodium Selenite and Vitamin A and exposed to Hexavalent Chromium showed a significant (P ˂ 0.05) increase in FSH and LH levels as compared to the group that treated with Sodium Selenite and exposed to Hexavalent Chromium and to group that treated with Vitamin A and exposed to Hexavalent Chromium. From the present study it could be concluded, that Sodium Selenite and Vitamin A have a positive effect on fertility in Albino Male Mice that treated with Hexavalent Chromium by either affecting the FSH and LH hormones level or by eleminate the negative effect of Hexavalent Chromium

Abstract

The experiment was carried out to study the effect of NPK and Inicium using two concentration for each of them 1 and 2 gm/L for NPK and 5 and 10 ml/L for Inicium on some physiological characters of Lycopersicon esculentum and mitotic division index of seedling radical apex. The results showed that all the characters increased plant height, stem diameter, leaves number, length of leaf, lobs number in one leaf, length of root and root diameter. The data showed that the percentage of cell division, mitotic division and Telophase stage increased in seedling radical apex comparison with control plants.

Abstract

The aim of this study to conduct the effects of fimbrial and lipopolysacchride (LPS) immunization is on the pathohistological changes in rabbits, Fifteen rabbits of both sexes (Weight 1500-2000 gm) divided into three groups (5 animals of each group). The first group was immunized by 1ml (200µg /animal) of fimbrial subcutaneously the second group gave 1 ml ( 200 µg /animal) LPS while the third group was left as negative control group that injected 1 ml phosphate buffer control subcutaneously. First and second groups recived the same dose after two weeks give as booster dose. All animals challenged after 5 weeks of immunization by5X107CFU/ml Proteus vulgaris intra peritoneally .After 7 days from challenge all the animals, sacrificed for histopathological examination . The results showed that the fimbrial group had a severe infiltrations of mononucleart cells in liver and kidney ,but there was no clear histopathological changes observed in the spleen compared with lipopolysaccharide and control group . Also this group showed a slight mononuclear cells infiltration in lamina properia of intestine ;while the lipopolysaccharide group showed hypertrophy of epithelial cells with a mild mononuclear cells infiltration in lamina properia as compared with the control group that showed presence of mononuclear cells aggregation in the lamina properia .Our conclusion That the defense of animals against Proteus vulgaris more efficient in fimbrial antigen than lipopolysaccharide antigen by decrease the pathological effects of this bacteria.

Abstract

Radial density distribution function of one particle D(r1) was calculated for main orbital of carbon atom and carbon like ions (N+ and B- ) by using the Partitioning technique .The results presented for K and L shells for the Carbon atom and negative ion of Boron and positive ion for nitrogen ion . We observed that as atomic number increases the probability of existence of electrons near the nucleus increases and the maximum of the location r1 decreases. In this research the Hartree-fock wavefunctions have been computed using Mathcad computer software .

Abstract

In this study, we design narrow band pass filter for window (3_5) μm dependent on the needle optimization method , and a comparison with global designs published -Also, the effect of change parameter design on the optical performance of filter was studded and being able to overcome the difficulties of the design.In this study, the adoption of homogeneous optical properties materials as thin film depositing on a substrate of germanium at wavelength design (λ = 4 μm). For design this kind of filters we used advanced computer program (Matlab )to build a model design dependent both matrix characteristic and Needle technique. In this paper we refer to the type of Mert function , which is used for correct optical performance access to the target in very short time.

Abstract

In this work a hybrid composite materials were prepared containing matrix of polymer (polyethylene PE) reinforced by different reinforcing materials (Alumina powder + Carbon black powder CB + Silica powder). The hybrid composite materials prepared are: • H1 = PE + Al2O3 + CB • H2 = PE + CB + SiO2 • H3 = PE + Al2O3 + CB + SiO2 All samples related to electrical tests were prepared by injection molding process. Mechanical tests include compression with different temperatures and different chemical solutions at different immersion times The mechanical experimentations results were in favour of the samples (H3) with an obvious weakness of the samples (H1) and a decrease of these properties with a rise in temperature and the increasing of the immersion times in the chemical solutions.

Abstract

Adhesion (type 1 fimbriae) and host defense avoidance mechanisms (capsule or lipopolysaccharide) have been shown to be prevalent in Escherichia coli isolates associated with urinary tract infections. In this work, 50 uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) isolated from children with urinary tract infections were genotypically characterized by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay. We used two genes; fimH and kpsMTII, both of them previously identified in uropathogenic E.coli (UPEC) isolates. The PCR assay results identified fimH (90.0)% and kpsMTII (72.0)% isolates. In the present study, was also demonstrated that these genes may be included in both or one of them within a single isolate.

Abstract

The present study aimed to evaluate sera TGF- β1 concentration in patients with urinary bladder carcinoma (UBC). All malignant of them was transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) type , patients with urinary bladder disorders (UBD ) and healthy control , and to study the correlation between sera TGF-β1 levels and tumor stages and grades in UBC patients . A direct ELISA test was used to quantify the seraTGF-β1 concentrations in sera of 58 patients with urinary bladder carcinoma UBC of different grades (G) and stages (T) all malignant of them was transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) type , 15 from patients with UBD and 15 healthy subjects . Sera levels of TGF-β1 were elevated in patients with UBC and UBD compared to healthy (P ≤ 0.01) .There was no association between tumor stages and serum level of TGF-β1 (P˃0.05) . Whereas there was an association between serum levels of TFG-β1 and tumor grades (p ≤0.05) . Increased serum level was found in high grades G≥2 of patient with UBC .

Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluate the level of cytokines IL-1α, IL-10 and IL-17A in the serum of patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD), vascular dementia (VD) and down syndrome (DS). The results showed that Serum level of IL-1α was significantly increased in AD patients (3.79 ± 0.26 pg/ml) as compared with DS patients (2.78 ± 0.39 pg/ml) or controls (2.78 ± 0.22 pg/ml), while no significant difference was observed between AD and VD (3.25 ± 0.20 pg/ml) patients or between VD patients, DS patients and controls. The serum level of IL-10 was approximated in VD and DS patients and controls (3.39 ± 0.24, 2.77 ± 0.39 and 3.41 ± 0.35 pg/ml, respectively), but was significantly (P ≤ 0.05) increased in AD patients (5.73 ± 0.55 pg/ml) as compared to these groups. The serum level IL-17A was significantly increased in AD and VD patients (6.28 ± 0.35 and 5.32 ± 0.42 pg/ml, respectively) as compared with DS patients (3.75 ± 0.40 pg/ml) or controls (4.05 ± 0.28 pg/ml).IL-10 is important to diffrentiation between AD and VD.

Abstract

The 2011 Iraqi Measles Control Campaign had as its aim to improve immunization coverage among young adults' 17-24years and, in the longer term, prevention of measles epidemics. The aim of the study is estimation measles vaccination and revaccination efficacy by evaluate the seroprevalence of antibody and response to reimmunization in young adults. A previously vaccinated 189 young adult medical students were tested for measles specific IgG &IgM pre and post catch-up revaccination by using commercially available ELISA. To assess the seroprevalence of antibody response pre measles reimmunization in previously vaccinated young adults; 45 were found to be seronegative. To differentiate between primary and secondary vaccine failure, anti- measles IgM and IgG titers were assessed again 2-4 weeks after revaccination in 189 seronegative participants [45 seronegative, 144 seropositive individuals: 29 seronegative participants responded to revaccination anamnestically(P < 0.001)and developed immunity; 7 also showed IgM response (probably primary vaccine failure); 144 seropositive participants remained seroprotected without significant increase in antibody titer (P=0.577). Primary vaccine failure was fond to be 3.7%; while secondary vaccine failure was 11.6%.After revaccination, 85.1% were seroprotected. This study demonstrates the waning measles immunity in young adults in Iraqi medical students, which poses the potential risk of transmission of measles. Periodic Serological surveillance and revaccination of susceptible young adults are recommended.

Abstract

Objective: In this study ,the effects of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs)were investigated on the liver and kidney tissues. Methodology: The produced nanoparticles have an average particle size of about 30 nm. Eighteen male albino rats were used by dividing them into three groups, each group comprise 6 rats. First group(control group) given food and water like other groups by liberty. Second group was tail injected by (AgNPs) at dose of (0.4 mg/kg. body weight/day). Third group was injected by (AgNPs) at dose of (0.6 mg/kg. body weight/day) for 15 days. All animals were sacrified at the end of experiment. The liver and kidney tissues specimens were fixed in 10% formalin and histological preparations were carried out then stained with H&E. Pathological changes in liver and kidney tissues were showed. Results: Histopathological studies revealed the harmful effect of the silver nanoparticles uses on the liver and kidney rats, second group that treated with Ag NPs (0.4 mg/kg.body.weight/day), kidney sections showed enlargement of collecting tubules, increase in interstitial tissue medulla, necrosis and enlargement in proximal and distal convoluted tubules. Liver showed enlargement of the central vein and degeneration of hepatic cells. Third group that treated with Ag NPs (0.6 mg/kg. body weight/day); kidney sections showed hyperplasia of the interstitial connective tissue of renal medulla with hemorrhages, renal cortex showed, degenerative changes and necrosis of proximal and distal convoluted tubules. Liver section showed congestion and necrosis of hepatic cells. Conclusion: Silver nanoparticles cause damage in liver and kidney tissues. Recommendation: Further study is needed for the effect of Ag NPs on the other tissues.

Abstract

The corrosion behavior of low carbon steel in washing water of crude oil solution has been studied potentiostatically at five temperatures in the range ( 303 –343 )K, at pH ( 4 ) and at pH (4,6,7,9,11 ) at (343K)..The corrosion potential shifted to more negative values with increasing temperature and the corrosion current density increased with increasing temperature, the corrosion current density (icorr) decreased with increasing pH in the rang ( 4 – 7 ) and it increased with increasing pH in the rang ( 9 – 11 ) at ( 343 K ), while the corrosion potential generally variation with increasing pH in the rang (4-11)at(343K. From the general results for this study can be seen that thermodynamic and kinetic function were also calculated (ΔG, ΔS, ΔH and Ea )

Abstract

The complexes of Schiff base of 4-aminoantipyrine and 1,10-phenanthroline with metal ions Mn (II), Cu (II), Ni (II) and Cd (II) were prepared in ethanolic solution, these complexes were characterized by Infrared , electronic spectra, molar conductance, Atomic Absorption ,microanalysis elemental and magnetic moment measurements. From these studies the tetrahedral geometry structure for the prepared complexes were suggested.The prepared ligand of 4-aminoantipyrine was characterized by using Gc-mass spectrometer .

Abstract

This study was aimed to investigate the association between thyroid disorder and Helicobacter pylori infection in 122 patients (100 females and 22 males )and for comparison, 60 healthy individuals (31females and 29 males),who had no thyroid disorder, were also included in the study. Blood samples were collected from both patients and the healthier individuals. Enzyme Linked Fluorescent Assay (ELFA) technique through using Vitek Immuno Diagnostic Assay System (VIDAS) was applied to measure levels of the thyroid hormones (tri-iodothyronine T3, tetra-iodothyroxine T4) and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). From the results obtained, patients were classified into three groups: 40 were considered as belonging to the controlled group (26 females and 14 males), 57 to the hypothyroidism group (52 females and 5 males) and25 belonged to hyperthyroidism group (22 females and 3 males). On the other hand, highest incidence rate of thyroidism was recorded in the age group of (30-39)yrs. 19.67% , followed by (40-49)yrs. with 24.59% and(50-59)yrs. with 18.03%. When concentration and presence of anti -Helicobacter pylori IgG antibodies in the human blood samples were detected and measured by Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorrbent Assay (ELISA) technique , the results were showed high prevalence rates of H. pylori infection were detected in the hypothyroidism patients (94.07%), while the lowest prevalence rates were recorded in the healthy individuals ( 66.7%).Statistical analysis of anti –Helicobacter pylori IgG antibodies distribution among both healthy and thyroidism patients showed that highly significant differences at p < 0.01 were found between thyroid disorders patients groups.

Abstract

This study was designed to evaluate the effect of major surgery on thyroid hormones and thyrotropin in patient undergoing major lower abdominal surgery. The study included fifty patients scheduled for elective major lower abdominal surgery, the serum levels of T3, T4 and TSH were determined one day preoperatively, intraoperative, one day postoperatively, two days postoperatively, and rT3 was determined one day preoperatively, and one day postoperatively. We observed that the levels of (T3, T4, TSH) increased significantly (P<0.05) intraoperatively, one day postoperatively the levels of T3 and T4 reduced significantly (P<0.05), while TSH reduced not significantly (P>0.05), and two days postoperatively T4 and TSH returned to increase significantly but T3 not significantly (P>0.05). rT3 increased not significant (P>0.05) in one day postoperatively. It has been proposed these changes due to surgical stress that inhibits peripheral conversion of T4 to T3 by inhibiting peripheral 5'-deiodinase activity, also The absence of pituitary response to changes in serum levels of T3 and T4.According to the results of this study there is a transient abnormality in thyroid function tests in patient undergoing elective major surgery and this abnormality due to surgical stress.

Abstract

Background: Osteoporosis (OP) is a systemic disease characterized by low bone mass and micro architectural deterioration of bone tissue, resulting in an increased risk of fractures and has touched rampant proportions. Osteocalcin, one of the osteoblast-specific proteins, showed that its functions as a hormone improves glucose metabolism and reduces fat mass ratio. This study is aimed to estimate the osteocalcin and glucose level in blood serum of osteoporotic postmenopausal Women with and without Type 2 Diabetes. Materials and methods: 60 postmenopausal women with osteoporosis divided into two groups depending on with or without T2DM, 30 patients for each. Serum samples of 30 healthy postmenopausal women were collected as control group. Osteocalcin was measured by ELISA method using a kit of (CUSABIO. China). Glucose was determined by spectrophotometric method. Results: Mean serum osteocalcin in postmenopausal osteoporotic women without Type II Diabetes is higher than control group and the group with T2DM (p ≤ 0.001). Conclusion: Bone formation marker increases at postmenopausal osteoporosis women; Hyperglycemia also induces osteoblast function and reduces of production osteocalcin at T2DM.

Abstract

The primary ligand 2-amino acetic acid -6- chloro benzothiazole (L) was prepared as a chelating ligand, which was treated with the ions Cr(III), Co(II), Ni(II) Cu(II) and Cd(II) in alcoholic medium in order to prepare series of new metal complexes in presence of the co-ligand 2,2`-bipyridyl (L'). These complexes were prepared by conventional and microwave methods and characterized by the available techniques. FT-IR, UV-Visible, magnetic susceptibility, flame atomic absorption technique as well as elemental analysis and coductivity measurements. From the spectral studies, a square pyramidal structure proposed for Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes, while octahedral geometry for Cr(III), Cu(II) and Cd(II) complexs. A theoretical treatment of these compounds in gas phase was studied using Hyper Chem.8 program, Semi-empirical method was carried out to evaluate heat of formation ∆H˚f, binding energy ∆Eb and dipole moment (µ) for all the complexes, also the vibration frequencies and electronic transitions were calculated for two ligands. Electrostatic potantial, HOMO and LUMO energies for ligands were calculated to determine the reactive sites for these ligands.

Abstract

The present work involved synthesis of several new N-Sulfamethoxazol derivatives imide on Polymeric chain by two steps. The first stip involved preparation of N- (sub.orunsub benzoyl and sub unsub acetyl) amidyl sub sulfamethoxazole (1-5) by condensation of sulfamethoxazole drug with many substituted acid chloride, then the second step include, preparation new five N-(acrly-N–sub or unsub benzoyl) imidyl substituted sulfamethoxazol(6-10) by reaction of poly acryloyl chloride with the prepared compound (1-5) in first stepin asuitable solvent in the presenceamount triethylamine (Et3N) with heating. The structure confirmations of all polymers wereconfirmed using FT-IR,1H-NMR,13C-NMR and UV spectroscopy. Other physical properties including softeningpoint's, melting point, and solubility of the polymers were also measured.

Abstract

The corrosion behavior of copper and carbon steel in 1M concentration of hydrochloric acid (HCl) and sulphuric acid (H2SO4) has been studied. The corrosion inhibition of copper and carbon steel in 1M concentration of hydrochloric acid (HCl) and sulphuric acid (H2SO4) by Ciprofloxacin has been investigated. Specimens were exposed in the acidic media for 7 hours and corrosion rates evaluated by using the weight loss method. The effect of temperature (from 283 ºK to 333 ºK), pH (from 1to 6), inhibitor concentration (10-4 to 10-2) has been studied. It was observed that sulphuric acid environment was most corrosive to the metals because of its oxidizing nature, followed by hydrochloric acid. The rate of metal dissolution increased with increasing exposure time. Corrosion rates of carbon steel in the acidic media found to be higher.

Abstract

Background : Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common cause of infertility in reproductive-age women , it is an important harbinger of metabolic disorders. It has been reported that hyperamylasemia can be used as marker of ovarian cancer patients . The current study was conducted to evaluate amylase activity and to estimate the correlation of this enzyme with insulin and insulin resistance in PCOS patients. Methods: This study was conducted on forty five patients with PCOS in comparison to twenty five women as control. Fasting blood sample was taken from each subject and analyzed for amylase activity , FSH,LH, Insulin , proteins, and blood sugar , meanwhile insulin resistance was determined by HOMA-IR index. Results: The results of the study showed a significant increase (p<0.001) in amylase activity , amylase specific activity , BMI, LH, Insulin, and HOMA-IR for patients group in comparison with control group. There was significant correlation between insulin levels and HOMA-IR with specific activities of amylase in PCOS group while there were no significant correlation between insulin levels and HOMA-IR with specific activities of amylase in control group. Conclusion:The current study suggested that metabolic disorders in PCOS patients includes hyperamylasemia , so high levels of amylase cannot be used as tumor marker for ovarian tumors.

Abstract

In this work lactone (1) was prepared from the reaction of p-nitro phenyl hydrazine with ethylacetoacetate, which upon treatment with benzoyl chloride afforded the lactame (2). The reaction of (2) with 2-amino phenol produced a new Schiff base (L) in good yield. Complexes of V(IV), Zr(IV), Rh(III), Pd(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) with the new Schiff base (L) have been prepared. The compounds (1, 2) were characterized by FT-IR and UV spectroscopy, as well as characterizing ligand (L) by the same techniques with elemental analysis (C.H.N) and (1H-NMR). The prepared complexes were identified and their structural geometries were suggested by using elemental analysis (C.H.N), flame atomic absorption technique, FT-IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy, in addition to magnetic susceptibility and conductivity measurements. Metal to ligand [M:L] ratio was obtained for all complexes in ethanol using molar ratio method, which gave comparable results with those obtained for the solid complexes. As well as the apparent stability constant of the complexes have been studied with the time and their color were stable for more than 4 hrs., furthermore the molar absorptivity have been calculated.

Abstract

Adsorption studies were carried out to test the ability of the Iraqi rice bran (Amber type) to adsorb some metals divalent cations (Cd2+, Co2+, Cu2+, Fe2+, Ni2+, Pb2+, and Zn2+) as an alternative tool to remove these pollutants from water. The Concentrations of these ions in water were measured using flame and flamless atomic absorption spectrophotometry techniques. The applicability of the adsorption isotherm on Langmuir or Freundlisch equation were tested and found to be dependent on the type of ions. The results showed different adsorptive behavior and different capacities of the adsorption of the ions on the surface of the bran. The correlation between the amounts adsorbed and different cation parameters including (electronegativity, ionic radius, and the second ionization potential) were tested. This study showed the applicability of bran, as a cheap and available waste materials, to remove different cations from solution.

Abstract

In this paper ,the problem of point estimation for the two parameters of logistic distribution has been investigated using simulation technique. The rank sampling set estimator method which is one of the Non_Baysian procedure and Lindley approximation estimator method which is one of the Baysian method were used to estimate the parameters of logistic distribution. Comparing between these two mentioned methods by employing mean square error measure and mean absolute percentage error measure .At last simulation technique used to generate many number of samples sizes to compare between these methods.

Abstract

Oscillation criterion is investigated for all solutions of the first-order linear neutral differential equations with positive and negative coefficients. Some sufficient conditions are established so that every solution of eq.(1.1) oscillate. Generalizing of some results in [4] and [5] are given. Examples are given to illustrated our main results.

Abstract

In this paper the modified trapezoidal rule is presented for solving Volterra linear Integral Equations (V.I.E) of the second kind and we noticed that this procedure is effective in solving the equations. Two examples are given with their comparison tables to answer the validity of the procedure.

Abstract

In this paper,the homtopy perturbation method (HPM) was applied to obtain the approximate solutions of the fractional order integro-differential equations . The fractional order derivatives and fractional order integral are described in the Caputo and Riemann-Liouville sense respectively. We can easily obtain the solution from convergent the infinite series of HPM . A theorem for convergence and error estimates of the HPM for solving fractional order integro-differential equations was given. Moreover, numerical results show that our theoretical analysis are accurate and the HPM can be considered as a powerful method for solving fractional order integro-diffrential equations.

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to propose an efficient three steps iterative method for finding the zeros of the nonlinear equation f(x)=0 . Starting with a suitably chosen , the method generates a sequence of iterates converging to the root. The convergence analysis is proved to establish its five order of convergence. Several examples are given to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed new method and its comparison with other methods.
