Abstract

A Schiff base of 1,3,4-triazole derivative have been synthesized by the reaction between 5-(4-methylphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thiol and hydrazine in the presence pyridine as catalyst to yield the 4-amino-5-(4-methylphenyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol which was treated with aromatic aldehyde to gave five member heterocyclic ring schiff base called 5-(4-methylphenyl)-4-[(pyridin-2-ylmethylidene)amino]-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol as di-dentate ligand. The last compound reacted with hydrated metal chlorides NiCl2, CuCl2, CoCl3,CrCl3 and FeCl3 in presence of ethanol as solvent to yield 1,3,4-triazole complexes. The structures of synthesized ligand and their complexes have been established on the basis of their spectral FTIR, Mass,1H-NMR, elemental analysis C,H,N as well as Molar conductance .The purity of the compounds was confirmed by TLC.

Abstract

Chalcone derivative were synthesized by reaction of some benzaldehyde derivatives with acetophenone or substituted. Then the products were reacted with hydrazine hydrate, semicarbazide and phenyl hydrazine, to give the heterocyclic derivatives of pyrazole to use preparation monomers from acid chloride to give polymers by free radicals. The structure of these compounds characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR spectra, melting points, TLC, Vis, Uv/Vis and X-ray, These compounds were also screened for their antibacterial activities.

Abstract

Abstract: Vitamin D deficiency and anemia are common in the Middle East, and vitamin D deficiency and hyperparathyroidism have been study to be linked with an increased incidence of anemia. In this study, that vitamin D deficiency and hyperpara¬thyroidism may be connected with anemia in female Iraqi population was tested. Aim: To investigated correlation of hyperparathyroidism and vitamin D3 levels deficiency and insufficiency with anemia in female. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted at Al-Hussein Medical City/ Al-Husain Teaching Hospital / Kerbala-Iraq. All samples 176 apparently are healthy female subjects as controls 80 and 96 female patients non- obese having iron deficiency anemia during the period from Nov. , 2015 to Sep., 2016with age ranged between (15- 50) years. The data of body mass index (BMI), Vitamin D3, serum iron levels, total iron binding capacity, creatinine ,complete blood count in blood were measured, alkaline phosphate, phosphorus and calcium . Results: In females, the prevalence of anemia was significantly associated with vitamin D deficiency independent of parathyroid hormone levels (p=0.001). In females, the prevalence of anemia appeared to be significantly associated with hyperparathyroidism (odds ratio; 95% confidence interval; P = 0.01) Conclusion: It was concluding that anemia female patients have significantly low levels of serum vitamin D3and high levels of serum parathyroid hormone than that in healthy. High prevalence rate of vitamin D deficiency was stronger in female population of Kerbala city in Iraq. Additional studies to determine whether vitamin D3 supplementation could be used to treat anemia are acceptable.

Abstract

Objective: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common gynecologic endocrinopathy. The pathogenesis of PCOS is associated with both heredity and environment. PCOS has adverse impacts on female endocrine, reproduction, and metabolism. PCOS can impact women’s reproductive health, leading to anovulatory infertility and higher rate of early pregnancy loss. PCOS has additional metabolic derangements, such as insulin resistance, impaired glucose tolerance, and dyslipidemia. The risks of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, and endometrial cancer among PCOS patients are significantly increased as well. C-reactive protein (CRP) is a member of a group of acute phase of protein which increase their concentrations during certain inflammation disorders and used as a biomarker of inflammation in the body. The aim of the presented work is to determine the level of CRP and then to evaluate its correlation with total antioxidant capacity in sera of women with PCOS. Materials and Methods: This study was carried out on 120 women within the reproductive age (18-45 years old). Sixty patient of them were attended from gynecological and obstetric hospital in Karbala province, and they all diagnosed by their physicians as polycystic ovary syndrome, and they compared with another sixty healthy control women with regular-menstrual cycle , fertile with age range (18-45 years) from November 2015 till October 2016. Total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL-C, LDL-C, VLDL-C, total antioxidant capacity and CRP were determined in each sample by various techniques. Then various correlations were measured by SPSS system. Results: The PCOS patients and the control group were obese and non-obese (30 patients of each). The mean age of obese PCOS was (27.26 ± 0.83) whereas for obese control was (28.1 ± 0.713) with a high significance p < 0.01 in HDL-C, T-AOC and CRP. The comparison between non-obese PCOS, means of age (25.5 ± 0.87) with non-obese control, means of age (27.3 ± 0.68) a high significance p < 0.01 in HDL-C and T-AOC was obtained. While there is no significant correlation between T-AOC and CRP in obese and non-obese groups, respectively. Conclusions: From the presented results, C-reactive protein levels as one of cardiac biomarkers was elevated in PCOS patients which revealed that PCOS is associated with dyslipidemia and altered oxidative status. Obesity appeared to be a major factor associated with elevated cardiac markers.

A Study into the Corrosion Inhibition of Carbon Steel in Acidic Medium Using Eco-Friendly Compounds

Abstract

The corrosion inhibition effects of cefixima and aminobenzylpenicillin drug inhibitors in 0.05M deaerated sulfuric acid solution for carbon steel have been studied by using electrochemical techniques and quantum chemical calculations as well as scanning electron microscope (SEM). It is observed from the experimental findings that both compounds perform as good inhibitors and behave according to mixed type inhibitor in terms of their inhibitory action. Additionally, it was found the percentage of corrosion inhibition become maximal when the concentrations of the cefixima and aminobenzylpenicillin inhibitors are increased. The influence of temperature on the corrosion of carbon steel has been investigated and the activation energy values estimated. The corrosion efficiency decreases with increasing the temperature range. The parameters of thermodynamic have been determined and indicate that the adsorption mechanism follows the Langmuir isotherm model and forms a protective layer on carbon steel surface electrode, which was characterized by scanning electron microscope measurements, to prevent a corrosion process. Quantum chemical calculations have been performed to provide evidence for corrosion inhibition according to the chemical structures of the cefixima and aminobenzylpenicillin drug inhibitors.

Abstract

Simple Spectral method was developed to estimate the methyl and propyl paraben through charge- transfer (CT) complexes. The method involves the interaction of parabens compounds with o-chloranil as π-acceptor. Under the optimized conditions, the complexes were found to be absorbed at 415 and 385 nm with in the linearity range of 5-40 and 5-55 μg ml-1 respectively. The molar absorptivity values were in the range 3803.75 and 2342.6 L.mol-1.cm-1 respectively. And the lower limit of detection were in the rang 0.073 and 0.086 µg/ml-1 for methyl and propyl respectively. The stoichiometry of the paraben compounds o-chloranil complexes was found to be 1:1 method. The procedure was characterized by its simplicity with accuracy and precision. The proposed method was applied successful in some detergents (shampoo and lotion) containing paraben compounds.
