Abstract

Determination of reliable biochemical parameters of experimental diabetic rabbit by alloxane monohydrates on liver function and role of diatery antioxidants (ascorbic acid, vit. A, and α-tocopherole) supplementation were investigated. Body weight gain, blood (plasma) chemistries, antioxidant enzymes and histopathological lesions were determined over 10 week in newzealand white rabbit group each contain 10 animals: control G1 animals group, diabetic only G2 animals group, diabetic and ascorbic acid G3 animals group, diabetic and Vit. A G4 animals group, diabetic and α-tocopherole G5 animals group . each of dietary ascorbic acid, vit. A and α-tocopherole that given to animals of G3, G4 and G5 respectively were significantly (P≤0.01) improve body weight gain and glucose level in blood than G2 diabetic group G3 and G5 significantly did not differ but these two groups significantly more best than G4 group, also these antioxidants improve levels of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase and total protien. Enzymatic activity of liver glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase were increased significantly more than of diabetic animals G2. histopathological structures of liver and pancrease confirm these results, as generally oxidative stress that affect liver function may diminished by administration of antioxidant ascorbic acid, Vit. A and α-tocopherole supplementation, and α-tocopherole group was the best group.

Synthesis of new pyrazoline and oxazoline Derivatives From Indole

Abstract

The objective of the present work is preparing of new pyrazoline and oxazoline derivatives by reaction of amine derivative(4- aminoacetophenone) with Indole, then complete with next step which include the reaction of the product in the first step with some benzaldehyde derivatives to form chalcones , The final step which include formation cyclization to prepared chalcones to yield pyrazoline and oxazoline derivatives. The structures of the synthesized compounds are established by Elemental Analysis and several technique (TLC, M.p , and IR spectra).

Preparation of Vaccine for pathogenic bacteria causing abortion using low level diode laser

Abstract

The objective of this study was investigate the effect of Low Level diode laser on the bacterial isolates (Listeria monocytogenes, Enterobacter cloacae, Klebsiella pneumonia, Staph aureus, Esherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) which used in preparation of vaccine and to determine the immune responses using the RID kit. The antibacterial agent’s sensitivity before irradiation was performed by using twelve antibiotics, these strains showed high resistance for these antibiotics except amikacin. But after irradiation the sensitivity was increased. Some features were studied such as bacterial count which decreased and lost of blood hemolysis and biocyanine stain from p.aeruginosa according to increasing the time and power of irradiation. Bacterial growth killed and attenuated to prepare vaccine using diode laser (660) nm of wavelength having (50 and 250) mw of power and the frequency (1-10) kHz. The experiment was conducted on 24 adult white New Zealand male rabbits with (1.5-2) Kg body weight each, they were divided into sixth groups with 4 rabbits each and inoculated with killed and attenuated vaccine and one group was used as control. After (35day) of immunization, determination was done for (IgM, IgG, IgA in addition to C3 and C4). The Ig and Co. of immunized animals were higher (P>0.05) compared with control animals, also the live attenuated vaccine induced highly immune response as compared with killed vaccine. The control group died after challenge dose while the immunized animals not.

Analytical and Thermodynamic Study of Complex of Co(II) Ion with New Azo Reagent2-((3-methoxy phenyl) diazenyl)- 4,5-diphenyl imidazole (MBDPI)

Abstract

The new azo reagent 2-((3-methoxy phenyl) diazenyl)-4,5- diphenyl imidazole was designated as (MBDPI) and its metal chelate with Co2+metal ion were prepared. The preparation of the complex have been conducted after fixing the optimum conditions such as pH and concentration. UV-Vis spectrum for reacting of metal solution and the reagent solution. For wide range of pH (5-11) and concentration which obeys Beer-Lambert Law. The (MBDPI) and its metal chelate were characterized by the analytical and spectroscopic studies of the complex solution such as elemental analysis, FTIR, molar conductivity measurements and thermodynamic study. It has been found that the azo reagent behaves as neutral bidentate (N,N΄) reagent forming chelate with 1: 2 (metal : reagent) stoichiometry. The infrared spectra of the chelating complex have been studied and compared with the free reagent spectrum. The Conductivity measurements for solutions in ethanol have shown non-ionic character for the chelate complex.Depending on these results we can conclude that the proposed geometrical structure of the chelate complex is octahedral. The synthesized compounds have been tested in vitro against a two kinds of pathogenic bacteria to assess their antibacterial properties using disk diffusion method, which is aGram negative bacteria: (pseudomonas aeruginosa) and agram positive bacteria ( Staphylococcus aureus ) The results showed that the reagent, its metal chelate with Co2+and the aqueous solution of metal ion had inhibition activity toward the first type of bacteria without the second type.

Isolation of Enterobius vermicularis from patients with acute appendicitis

Abstract

To evaluate the acute appendicitis due to Enterobius vermicularis appendices were surgical removed and then macroscopical and microscopical examination were performed. The samples were obtained from patient admitted in Al-Najaf hospitals , 980 appendices were examined and the result was indicated that 73 of 980 cases ( 7.45 % ) were infected with E. vermicularis including 33 male ( 3.37 %) and 40 female ( 4.08 % ) at the age of 5 – 34 years. The result showed that the patient sex gender not affected on the infection , but the ages group did. The study reported that the existence of E. vermicularis in appendicitis can cause the symptoms resembling appendicitis and even inflammation of appendicitis.

Abstract

Consumption of bottled drinking water increase rabidly in Iraq and all over world, because peoples think it more safe from municipal water, this study aimed to evaluation quality of ten brands bottled drinking water that sold in local markets of Samawa city by compareresults with limited levels of Iraqi and world health organization standards for drinking water then compared its with labels on bottled.Thirty samples collected (three for each brand) during April, may and June 2012 (one sample monthly) and study quality of it by measured the following physical ,chemical and biological parameters (pH,temperature,total dissolve solids, electrical conductivity,dissolvedoxygen,nitrite,sulfate,chloride,totalhardness,calcium , magnesium ,total bacterial count,Totalcoliform bacteria and fecal coliform bacteria. Results showed 70% of studied brands were within Iraqi limited levels 1998 and W.H.O. standards 2008while 30% were above these standards for limited parameters ,SO4 for brands number 1 and 2,PO4 for number 6, temperature and dissolved oxygen can conceders normal because varied according to favorite of consumers and temperature respectively. In all brands labels on bottle don’t act real composition of water within it. Conclude bottled drinking water(for some brands) don’t have enough safety. Statistical analysis results showed significant differences between brands for most tests in level p<0.05

Evaluation of the anti-Rubella herd Immunity in Children of Al-Muthanna Province

Abstract

Fifty blood samples were collected from healthy children with age range from one to six years old. They were 25children from AL-Sammawa city and 25 children from AL-Khider. These samples were tested by ELISA to evaluate the immune status of children after immunization. The results showed that the percentage of children whom observed levels of anti-rubella specific antibodies ≥ 11 IU/ml were 96.7% and 95% for males and females respectively after vaccination .There was highly significant difference (P<0.01) in titer of IgG after vaccination between children of AL-Sammawa and AL-Khider. There was decrease in IgG levels between (2-4) years old but the IgG levels will rise between (1-2)and (4-6) year.

Slow release fertilizer(ammonium nitrate) based on natural and synthetic rubber

Abstract

Fertilizers losses due to leaching, volatilization and the activated risk of Fertilizers leaching after addition to the soil may be reduced through the use of slow release fertilizers. These membranes often consist of permeable polymers, waxes or sulfur. The aim of this project is to find a suitable material and method for coating of nitrogen fertilizer to achieve controlled release and also to evaluate the coating and the coating method in laboratory scale. The reason for choosing natural and synthetic rubbers that has been used as coating materials for the controlled release fertilizers to decrease the release rate. To evaluate the coating material a conductivity meter was used to measure the conductivity as a function of time. The conductivity was changed as the ammonium and nitrate ions were released through the membrane to the surrounding water. The results shows that it was possible to coat fertilizer particles with styrene butadiene (SBR), natural rubber(NR), butadiene rubber (BRcis) and butyl rubber. The release rate of ammonium nitrate from SBR and Butyl rubbers are higher than NR and BRcis rubbers.

Abstract

Thin films of SnS and chlorine doped SnS were prepared utilizing chemical spray pyrolysis. The electronic transition was found to be direct and indirect for all the samples under investigation. The Urbach tail values were increased as the doping percentage increase while the energy gap takes the behavior of reverse. The single oscillator model proposed by Wimple and Didomoico were applied to the obtained sample which certainly obey single oscillator model.

Abstract

Terpolymer resins based on Salicylic Acid, Furfural, and Resorcinol (SFR) were synthesized by thecondensation reaction inthe presence of hydrochloric acid as catalyst for their studies as selectivechelatingion exchange terpolymer resins for certain metals. Chelating ion exchangeproperties of these terpolymers were studied for Hg2+, Cd2+and Pb2+metal ions uptake. A batch equilibrium method was employed in the study of selectivity and distribution of a given metal ions between the polymersample and a solution containing the metal ion. The study was carried out over a pH range of 5-7 and in a media of various ionic strengths. Cadmium and Lead were determined by means of Atomic Absorbtion Spectrophotometry, while Mercury was determined spectrofluorometry by adopting the method of Mudakavi which modified by Al-Imarahet al., The polymer showed ahigher selectivity for the removal of these ions in the following orderPb2+>Hg2+>Cd2+ ions.

Comparison of multiplex real time PCR with ELISA for diagnosis of viral Gastroenteritis in children of Al-Muthana province

Abstract

Simultaneous detection of Gastroenteritis viruses in children is important to prevent outbreak and control infection. In this study, evaluated the multiplex real time PCR technique with ELISA test fordetecting three enteric viruses (Rotavirus, Astrovirus, and Norovirus) from 335 stool specimens collected from children of Al-Muthana province. The overall rates of incidences were 79(23.6%), 39(11.6%) and 8(2.4%) respectively by using multiplex PCR technique and 20.3, 10.7, and 2.4% overall rate detection with ELISA, the sensitivity and specificity diagnostic values for PCR test were higher than of ELIAS test.

Measuring thermal conductivity of different prosthetics socket lamination

Abstract

Within the prosthesis, the residual limb is often subjected to a hot and moist environment which is both uncomfortable that may contribute to skin irritation, blistering, and and reduces life of the prosthetic limb, so that to maintain a healthy, clean and comfortable residual limb, the socket must have the ability to keep the limb cool. In present study is design of a system for measuring the thermal conductivity of different lamination materials of prosthetic socket which manufactured in Baghdad center using perlon, fiberglass and acrylic resin. The experimental results show that the thermal conductivity ranged from (0.1289-0.22982) for socket materials. Also the results demonstrate increasing perlon layers with constant fiberglass layers the thermal conductivity increased by (46%),at the same time the result shows that with increasing perlon layers with absence fiberglass layers the thermal conductivity Decrease by (67.9%).also it was found that increasing fiberglass layers from zero to two layers with fixing perlon layers leaded to increased in thermal conductivity by(78.27%,41.89%,16.2%) for twelve, ten and eight layers of perlon respectively.

Abstract

FIA is a very successful method in simplifying chemical assays. The main reasons for the success are the following advantage of FIA over conventional manual techniques: High sampling rate, smaller sample and reagent consumption and waste generation, simplicity and low cost instrumentation, Availablability of instrumentation in all laboratories, increased precision compared to batch methodologies and Automation in sample preparation and detection. A Study was conducted monthly to estimate the levels of some nitrogen and phosphorous species : Nitrite (NO2 -), Nitrate (NO3 -) Ammonium (NH4 +) and phosphate (PO4 -3) in waters of shatt Al-Arab from nine stations: (1) Qurnah (Tigris) (2) Qurnah Euphrates (3) Saad bridge (4) Qarmat Ali (5) Al-Najeebia(6) Ashar(7) Abu Al-khasib(8) Seeba and (9) Fao for the period October 2009 to September 2010. The higher concentrations of nitrite were recorded in the station 5 (Al-Najeebia) in march 2010 was 0.110 μgml and station 8) Seeba( in Jan 2010 was 0.095 μgml while the higher concentrations of Nitrate were recorded in station 7 (Abu Al-khasib) in Jun, July 2010 were 0.225,0.275 μgml respectively. The results indicated that (NH4 +) concentrations increasing during May, June and July 2010 especially in stations 5 and 6 was (0.95, 1.35),( 1.30, 1.25) and (1.45, 1.40 μgml) respectively. phosphate concentrations increasing during winter and spring 2010 especially in stations (Ashar, Abu Al-Khasib, Seeba,and Fao) 1.566, 2.033, 0.966, 1.266 μgml respectively. This can be attributed to increasing in temperature in summer, salinity of Shatt Al-Arab water and decay of organic and inorganic compounds in high temperature.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluated two broiler Breeders of chicken on feed consumption, egg production and mortality. Hypeco and shaver were the two strains subjected for monitoring and investigation. The study has executed at Tawarga project in Libya. The two strains were compared and contrasted for feed consumption. Egg production and mortality-under controlled condition. The statistical analysis on various parameter showed significant difference between the two strains and it revealed that the Hypeco strain is more suitable than shaver under the controlled environment. The result on management revealed that Hypeco strain has recoded the significant probability value (P≤ 0.05) in most of the statistical analysis.

Abstract

New 1,3-oxazepine derivatives containing azo group have been prepared. The first step, ( benzidine) was converted to 4,4'-bis(3-amino phenol)Azobenzidine [A]. by coupling reaction with 3-amino phenol, Then amino group of the azo derivative [A] was condensed with different aromatic aldehydes [4-chlrobenzaldehyde,3-hydroxybenzaldehyde,p-dimethyleaminobenzaldehyde, 4 bromobenzaldehyde,4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde,4-chloro-3-hydroxybenzaldehyde, 3,4-dimethylbenzaldehyde, and 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde ] in absolute ethanol to give new azo Schiff,s bases derivatives [B1-B8] respectively. The resulting imines derivatives [B1- B8] were reacted with maleic anhydride and phathalic anhydride in dry benzene to give new 1,3-oxazepine-4,7-dione ring derivatives[C1a-C8a]and[C1b-C8b] respectively. For the last derivatives thermal properties were determind by using Thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA),All these compounds were characterized by melting points and FT.IR spectroscopy, some of them were characterized by1H-NMR spectroscopy ,C.H.N analysis and TGA analysis.

Photocatalytic Degradation of Bleaching Some Organic Dyes with TiO2 under direct Sun Light

Abstract

The photocatalytic degradation of some dyes in aqueous solutions has been investigated under solar radiation as energy source in the presence of TiO2. A dye solution containing 1X10-5 M was completely degraded within 150 min. The effect of initial dye concentration, pH, light intensity and TiO2 mass were investigated and the optimized conditions for maximum amount of degradation were determined. Experiments were performed at the range of temperature (33-40) ºC, The combined effect of pH and catalyst concentration was greater. The intensity of the solar light was measured using digital lux meter. The higher removal efficiency was obtained for Azor C dye (88 %).

Abstract

Molecular structure determination for monomer urea as well as their vibrational frequencies have been theoretically investigated by molecular orbital by Ab Initio calculation based on DFT theory level using 6-311G basis set performed by B3LYP method. Assignments for vibrational frequencies were made, and solvent effect on the IR frequencies using eleven solvents: water, Dimethylsulfoxied, Ethanol, Acetone, Aniline, Chlorobenzene, Chloroform, Toluene, Benzene ,Cyclohexane and Heptane. The vibration mode of carbonyl is shifted to lower frequencies while the NH2 bending increased in polar solvent. The correlation between the dielectric constant and parameters[C=O freq., Energy gap, HOMO and LUMO] in eleven solvents obtained values r2 with range 0.890-0.973

Investigation of anti-tuberculosis drugs susceptibility in hospitals of ALMuthana province*

Abstract

Anti-tuberculosis drugs susceptibility were conducted among the new case, the findings showed that 18 isolates were resisted to five first drugs treatment (Isoniazid, Rifampicin, Ethambutol, Streptomycin and Pyrazinamide) among 131 isolates with different resistance patterns that monoresistance was shown in 12 (9.2%), 2 drugs resistance in 3 (2.3 %), 3 drugs in 2 (1.5 %) and 4 drugs in 1(0.76) patients. The MDR was found in 6 (4.6 %) patients. *This work is part from PhD thesis
