Abstract

Background: Periodontium mainly exposed to injury by trauma or pathologic diseases, Aloe vera is a plant has manybasic ingredients in its extracted gel that acts as wound healing accelerator in addition to that it's safe, andeconomical and without recordable of side effect. This study aimed is to evaluate the effect of topical application ofAloe vera on expression of syndecan -1 by periodontium tissue.Materials and methods: Thirty six male Albino rats were subjected for periodontium defect by electric scaler on thedistal sides of both lower anterior teeth. The animals divided into two groups; control group (without treatment) andthe experimental group treated with 1μLAloe vera gel/normal saline. Periodontal healing was examined at periods(3, 7, 14 days) for immunohistochemical localization of syndecan 1.Results: Immunohistochemical examination of this study revealed that the aloe vera treatment increase expression ofsyndecan 1 by epithelial cell, osteoblasts, fibroblast, stromal cells and with highly significant differences incomparison with control and saline.Conclusion: Aloe vera gel may affect the expression of syndecan 1 which seems to play a role in periodontiumhealing.

Abstract

The study was conducted at the of animal fields in AL-Qassim city, sheep in this fields was suffering from severe eye infection during the period April to October ,2015 .sheep was clinically examined and showed signs copious eye drops, increase body temperatures, swollen of eye with redness, eye pus in some cases, the sheep was checked clinically and eye swabs of 20 keratoconjuctivitis affected sheep carried out on the basis of their culturing,morphology, staining,biochemical tests and antimicrobial susceptibility testing was done by (disc diffusion method and well diffusion method) from present study .percent of infection was S.aureus(50%), M.ovis (33%)and Proteus spp.(17%) was isolated . Result of antimicrobial properties of Aloe Verawas evaluated in various in-vitro experiments against these species of bacteria S.aureus,M.ovis and Proteus spp. and showed good inhibition activity.In vivo study recovery from the conjunctivitis was record after 6 -10 days for animal treated with Pencillin-Streptomycine while group of extract that showed complete healing during period 6-10 day according totype and severity of infection, also there is no recurrent infection after treated with aloe Vera ointment and eye lotion , as well as Gide to done many of research on aloeVera for used in eye problem which consider very important in Veterinary Medicine .

Abstract

The influence oi‘Ai'oe vera oil extract,on wound healing was studied topically, the studyinvolved preparation bf oil extract of Aloe vera ,also preparation of oil ointment was done.The study‘ involved b8 female rabbits, they were divided Ainto three groups (3"tf"St gm" a'"'"a' treated f°' (3 days) , 7th:second group treated for (7days) _and 14"‘ day post wounding: third group treated for (14 days ).2full thickness incisional openwounds were done on the shoulder region of each group animals The wound(treated andcontrol)were treated cpntinuously with 0.5mg oil ointment.All wounds evaluated macroscopically to the degree of (hyperemia and exudation )andmicroscopically to the neutrophil and macrophages infiltration ,re-epithelization fibroblastproliferation with collagen deposition and new blood capillary formation. Both macroscopicand microscopic results show the efficacy Show of Aloe vera oil extract in healing process ascompared with control wounds.

Abstract

Flavonoids and Phenolic Compounds are important Components For Aloe Vera gel .The HPCL analysis proved that Aloe Vera gel contains many types of phenolic compounds (188.79 mg/ml cinnamic acid ,876.44 mg aloin, 555.01 Aloe emodin, 235.096 Aloeecticacid, 252.52 Anthranol, 549.98 Simapic acid) at Retention Times (1.777, 3. 448, 5.273, 6.192, 7.378, 8.765) min and Area (54348, 231817, 188319, 71949, 88097, 153061) and many types of flavonoids (227.48 Quercetin, 236.23 Kaempherol, 247.65 Rutin)at Retention Times (1.89,3.15,7.493,8.413) and Area (75828,66531,88538,125858) .

Some biochemical effects of Aloe vera leaves on tissues in normal mice

Abstract

This research was carried out mainly to investigate the effects of the aqueous extract and proteinous fractions of Aloe vera leaves on cholesterol, acetycholinesterase in brain, glycogen, glutathione in liver and malonaldehyde levels in heart in normal male albino mice. The antioxidant properties and inhibition of acetylcholine-sterase in tissue were detected. Intraperitoneal administration of Aloe vera extract in concentration of 400 mg/kg significantly decreased the levels of AchE in brain by (-88.27%) and glutathione content in liver by (-35.48%), and increased the levels of glycogen in liver and malonaldehyde in heart by (22.60%, 85.50%) respectively. At a concentration of 300 mg/kg Aloe vera extract significantly increased the level of cholesterol in brain by (24.39%). These results clearly show the antioxidant property of the extract of Aloe vera leaves.

تم دراسة تأثيرات المستخلص الخام والمركبات البروتينية المعزولة من أوراق نبات الصبار على مستوى الكوليسترول وانزيم الاستيل كولين استريز في الدماغ، ومستوى الكلايكوجين والكلوتاثايون في الكبد، ومستوى المالونلديهايد في قلب ذكور الفئران البيض السليمة. درست فعالية المستخلص كمضادات الأكسدة فضلا عن إمكانية تثبيط أنزيم الاستيل كولين استريز في الأنسجة. أشارت النتائج إلى ان الحقن في التجويف البريتوني للمستخلص الخام بجرعة (100 ملغم/كغم) يمتلك فعالية في خفض مستوى انزيم الكولين استريز في الدماغ بحدود -88.27% ومحتوى كلوتاثايون الكبد بحوالي -35.48%، وزيادة في محتوى كلايكوجين الكبد ومالونالديهايد القلب بحدود 22.6% و 85.5% على التوالي، كما ادت الجرعة (300 ملغم/10مل) الى زيادة معنوية في مستوى كوليسترول الدماغ بحوالي 24.39%. توحي هذه النتائج بخصائص مضادات الأكسدة لمستخلص أوراق الصبار.

Abstract

Background: Aloe vera is an evergreen perennial plant. It is widely used in modern herbal practice. The clear gel contained within the leaf makes an excellent treatment for wounds, burns and other skin disorders, speeding up the rate of healing and reducing the risk of infection. Aloe vera is also taken internally in the treatment of chronic constipation, poor appetite, and digestive problems. Semen analysis is the cornerstone of the evaluation of male fertility. Routine semen analysis can many times allow a definitive diagnosis of infertility. Therefore, the typical measurements done in a semen analysis include: sperm concentration, sperm motility, progressive sperm motility, sperm morphology, and foreign cell contamination. Objective: The present investigation was carried out to study the effect of low dose of fresh Aloe vera leaf gel extracts on in vitro sperm parameters for asthenozoospermic patients. Materials and Methods: Thirty semen samples of asthenozoospermic patients were used in this study. 5 µL of Aloe vera extract was mixed with 1 ml of each sample, left in the incubator for one hour, and then the sperm parameters including concentration, motility, morphology, agglutination, viability, and HOS test were recorded. Results: Highly significant increase at (P≤ 0.01) was recorded in the sperm concentration, percentages of sperm motility, progressive motility grade A, and normal sperm morphology, as well as sperm viability and HOS test. While a highly significant decrease (P≤ 0.01) was record in the percentages of sperm grades C and D, agglutination, and number of round cells. Conclusion: Using low dose of fresh Aloe vera extract enhanced sperm parameters especially in relation to motility, morphology and viability.

اجريت هذه الدراسة لمعرفة تاثير الجرع الواطئة من مستخلص نبات الصبار Aloe vera على معايير نطف الانسان في الزجاج للمرضى الذين يعانون من وهن النطف. شملت الدراسة ثلاثون عينة مني من مرضى وهن النطف وبعد اجراء تحليل السائل المنوي وفقا للمعايير القياسية لمنظمة الصحة العالمية (WHO, 2010) تمت اضافة 5 مايكروليتر من مستخلص نبات الصبار لواحد مل من السائل المنوي لكل عينة وتركت في الحاضنة لمدة ساعة ثم سجلت معايير النطف والتي شملت تركيز النطف والحركة والنسبة المئوية لشكلياء النطف السوية والتلازن واجراء فحص انتفاخ الغشاء البلازمي للنطفة وحيوية النطف. اظهرت النتائج زيادة معنوية عالية(P≤ 0.01) في معدل تركيز النطف والنسبة المئوية للحركة التقدمية ((A للنطف ونسبة الشكلياء السوية كذلك حيوية النطف كما سجل انخفاض معنوي عالي (P≤ 0.01) في النسبة المئوية للحركة غير التقدمية (C) والنطف غير المتحركة (D) والتلازن وعدد الخلايا الدائرية. يمكن الاستنتاج من الدراسة الحالية بان اضافة جرع واطئة من مستخلص نبات الصبار الى عينات السائل المنوي للمرضى الذين يعانون من وهن النطف لمدة ساعة ادى الى تحسين في معالم ووظائف النطف الرئيسية.

Abstract

The aim of this study (an in vitro study) was to evaluate the effect of Aloe Vera alcoholic and water aqueous extract in different concentration (18%, 28%, 38%, and 48%) on the viable count and inhibition zone of streptococcus mutans and compared with chlorhexidine 2%. In this study the isolation and identification of streptococcus mutans was performed from saliva of individual, aged under 65 years old, these bacteria was isolated, purified and diagnosed according to morphological characteristic features and biochemical test. The effect of Aloe Vera extracts in different concentrations were tested on the isolated species by using agar diffusion technique and the effect of different concentrations of aloe vera on viable count of streptococcus mutans.Results: In vitro experiments, statistically reduction in the viable count of streptococcus mutans was recorded at all concentration of alcoholic Aloe Vera extract and increase in the concentration lead to increase in the reduction of viable count of streptococcus mutans while in this study showed significant reduction in viable count of streptococcus mutans at higher concentration of water extract of Aloe Vera at 38% and 48%.The diameter of inhibition zone of streptococcus mutans were highly significant at all concentration of alcoholic extract in comparison to water extract

Abstract

Background:Aloe vera is an evergreen perennial plant widely used in modern herbal practice and is often available in proprietary herbal preparations. Evidence of efficacy is strongest for the laxative effects of Aloe vera latex; however the anthraquinones in the latex are associated with considerable risks.Objective:To investigate the histopathological changes of kidney tissues of male mice administered low dose of whole leaf fresh Aloe vera extract.Methods:Forty immature male Swiss Webster mice divided into two equal groups (experimental and control) (G and C respectively). The experimental group (G) was given 20 µl of Aloe vera extract orally for 21 days. While the control groups (C) were given by the same dose and route of administration with normal saline only. After six weeks (around puberty), the male were sacrificed to get their kidneys, then fixed with 10% formalin, and histological sections with a thickness of 5 microns were prepared.Results:Histological studies of mice kidneys from groups that consume low dose fresh Aloe vera whole leaf extracts showed disrupted entire structure of kidneys including degenerative changes in most parenchymatous elements in comparison with control.Conclusions:Using low doses of fresh Aloe vera whole leaf extract induce adverse effects on the histological features of mice kidneys and impaired their entire structure.Key words:Aloe vera, Kidney, anthraquinones, whole leaf extract.

Abstract

This study included isolation and identification of the fungi associated with Aloe vera (L.) in nurseries and plant gardens. The results showed that the fungi Alternaria alternata, Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium solani, Nigrospora oryzae, Cladosporium herbarum, Stemphylium botryosum, Aspergillus niger, Penicillium sp. were isolated from the diseased leaves of Aloe vera showing spots and blight symptoms. The percentages of disease incidence in March, Jun and August were found to be 5, 50 and 60 %, respectively. Pathogenicity test of Alternaria alternata, Fusarium oxysporum, Nigrospora oryzae and Cladosporium herbarum showed that disease index were 50, 25,25and 12.5 %, respectively. The fungi isolated on Aloe vera in this study have not been published previously in Iraq.

شملت الدراسة عزل وتشخيص المسببات الفطرية التي ترافق نبات الصَبِر الحقيقي او الألَوَة الحقيقية Aloe vera (L.) في المشاتل والحدائق النباتية, و اظهرت النتائج بان الفطريات Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium solani, Nigrospora oryzae, Cladosporium herbarum, Stemphylium botryosum, Aspergillus niger, Penicillium sp. هي التي عزلت من الأوراق المصابة والتي عليها أعراض التبقع و اللفحة. وكانت النسبة المئوية للاصابة في أشهر آذاروحزيران وآب (5، 50، 60٪) على التوالي. وأظهرت نتائج اختبار القدرة الامراضية لكل من الفطريات Alternaria alternata, Fusarium oxysporum, Nigrospora oryzae, Cladosporium herbarum وان نسبة الدليل المرضي كانت 50، 25،25 , 12.5٪، على التوالي. ان الفطريات التي عزلت من نبات Aloe vera في هذه الدراسة لم تنشر سابقا في العراق.

Abstract

BackgroundAmong various natural therapeutic remedies, Aloe vera, a medical plant widely used in food supplements, beverages, pharmaceutical and cosmetics. Aloe vera has been widely reported for its numerous medicinal effects.Ob,jertivesThe present investigation was carried out to study the histological changes inthe mice testis consumed low doses of Aloe vera leaf gel extractsMethodsForty immature male Swiss Webster mice divided into two equal groups (experimental and control) (G and C respectively). The experimental group (G) was given 10 µI of Aloe vera extract orally for 21 days. While the control groups (C) were given by the same dose and rout of administration with normal saline only.After Six weeks (around puberty) the male were sacrificed to get their testes; each testis was fixed .Then histological sections with athickness of 5 microns were prepared.ResultsHistological studies of mice testes from groups that consume low dose Aloe vera extracts showed enhanced the entire structure of spermatogenic layer of semineferous tubules that composed of extensive normal arranged germ cells layer.A significant increase in the numbers of spermatogonia, primary spermatocytes and spermatids, rates of normal supporting (Sertoli cells) and Leydig's cells. A significant increase in the rate of height of epithelial cells, and rates of sperms concentration in the semineferous tubules were observed too.ConclusionUsing low dose of Aloe vera extract enhanced the histological structure of male mice testis and may be usefulto produce drugs to improve malefertility.
