Abstract

Complement is a term used in the analysis of grammatical functions to refer to a major constituent of the sentence or the clause structure. It is associated with completing the action specified by the verb. Generally, complement represents all obligatory features of predicate other than the verb, such as, an object and an adverbial. Most of Iraqi EFL university students face difficulties in differentiating between various types of the semantic roles of the subject complement (SC) and object complement (OC). In addition, they encounter difficulties in identifying the subject and object complements.

Abstract

This study designed to analyzed humoral response related to measuring the serum levels of immunoglobulines (IgG , IgM and IgA) and complements corporeats ( C3 and C4) in (20) thalassemic patient and (10) control subject. IgG only recorded a high significant differences between two studied group – whereas no significant differences were found in levels of remaining humoral components ( IgM , IgA , C3 and C4 ) between thalassemic patients and control group .

صممت هذه الدراسة لتحليل الاستجابة المناعية الخلطية المتعلقة بقياس مستويات الكلوبيولينات المناعية ( IgG , IgM , IgA ) وكذلك مكونات المتمم (C3 , C4 ) في مصول (20) من المرضى المصابين بالثالاسيميا و (10) من السيطرة . وقد لوحظ بان مستويات IgG فقط سجلت فروقات معنوية عالية مجموعتي الدراسة . بينما لم يسجل أي فارق معنوي في مستويات بقية المكونات الخلطية ( IgG , IgM , C3 , C4 ) بين مرضى الثالاسيميا و السيطرة .

Abstract

ABSTRACT:BACKGROUND:Hydatid disease is a widely distributed disease caused by the larval stage of the Cestode Echinococcus. Inflammation increases the synthesis of immunoglobulins and complement components (C3 and C4) presumably through the action of interleukin 1& gamma interferon.OBJECTIVE:Assessment of immunopathotogical response of scrum immnnoglobulins and complement components fC3 and C4)in Iraqi patients that might be a fleeted as inflammatory response to hydatid disease.SUBJECT AND METHOD:A total number of 50 patients with radiological diagnosis of HD wore studied. Surgical interference had been done to 20 out of 50 patients and the results of surgery gave a clinical confirmation of the diagnosis of HD. Sera from patients with HD and 38 apparently healthy controls were obtained for measurement of immunoglobulins (lgG. IgM and IgA) and complement components (C3 and C4) by Radial Immunodiffuision Assay ( Biomaghreb).RESULTS AND DISCUSSION:Hydatid patients showed increases of IgG (P value < 0.001) IgM and IgA levels (p value <0.05) in comparison to the control group, but these variables start to decrease after surgical treatment that is significant only in case of IgM (P value <0.05). and this might be due to activation of humoral immunity against HD. Complement components were found to be insignificantly lower in patients with HD in comparison to control group (P value > 0.05) and higher in one week postoperative period in comparsion preoperative period (P value > 0.05). This might mean consumption of complement and it's activation or it might be due to anticomplementary action of the hydatid cyst.CONCLUSION:The picture that has emerged from this study is that HC wall might have anticomplementary action. And serum complement component tend to increase in postoperative period.

Serum Immunoglobulins and the Complements C3 and C4 Levels in the Patients with Chronic Renal Failure

Abstract

AbstractChronic renal failure (CRF) often accompanied by different biochemical disorders. The study of the possible changes in the serum component in CRF is very important issue. In many glomerular diseases, the complements and immunoglobulins are deposited in renal tissues. This work studied the possible changes in the serum concentration of complements C3 and C4 and immunoglobulins A, G and M in patients with CRFTwenty one patients with chronic renal failure and twenty six healthy persons were participated in this work. The serum levels of IgG, IgA and IgM and C3 and C4 in both groups were quantitatively evaluated using immunodiffusion plates. There is a significant increase at (p<0.05) in serum C3 and no significant difference in serum C4 in CRF patients as compared with healthy control group. The results showed no significant changes in the concentration of immunoglobulins in CRF patients in comparing with healthy control at (p<0.05).There is a slight immunological disturbance in the complements and immunoglobulins. Serum C3 only showed a significant increase in CRF patients. The results discussed according to the restricted protein diet and to the treatment of previous infections.

الخلاصةالعجز الكلوي المزمن يترافق مع تغيرات كيموحياتية. دراسة التغيرات المحتملة في مكونات الدم تعتبر من المواضيع المهمة. في الكثير من الإمراض الكلوية لوحظ وجود تجمع للمتممات والكلوبيولينات المناعية. في هذا البحث تمت دراسة تراكيز للمتممات C4 و C3 والكلوبيولينات المناعية IgG, IgA, IgM لدى مرضى العجز الكلوي المزمن.استُخدم في هذه الدراسة21 شخصا مصابا بالعجز الكلوي المزمن وُاخذ 26 شخصا سليما من المرض لغرض المقارنة. تم تقدير المتممات C4و C3 والكلوبيولينات المناعية IgG, IgA, IgM باستخدام طريقة الانتشار المناعي لدى مرضى العجز الكلوي المزمن ومقارنتها بمجموعة السيطرة. أظهرت النتائج ارتفاعا معنويا (p<0.05) في تركيز المتمم C3 بينما لايوجد اختلاف معنوي (p<0.05) في تركيز C4 في مصول مرضى العجز الكلوي المزمن مقارنة بمجموعة السيطرة. لا يوجد فرق معنوي في تراكيز الكلوبيولينات المناعية IgG, IgA, IgM بين مرضى العجز الكلوي المزمن و مجموعة السيطرة يوجد تغير طفيف في تراكيز المتممات C4 و C3 والكلوبيولينات المناعية IgG, IgA, IgM لدى مرضى العجز الكلوي المزمن. حيث أن تركيز المتمم C3 فقط قد اظهر ارتفاعا معنويا عند هؤلاء المرضى. نوقشت النتائج من خلال قلة تناول البروتين لدى المرضى وكذلك نتيجة للمعالجات السابقة للالتهابات عند المرضى.
