Abstract

This paper present algorithm for solving a single machine scheduling problem to minimize the sum of total completion times, total tardiness, maximum tardiness, and maximum earliness. The single machine total tardiness problem is already NP-hard, so they consider problem is strongly NP-hard, and several algorithms are used to solve it. Branch and bound algorithm with dominance rule and local search algorithms are proposed for the problem. For the Branch and bound algorithm results- show that using dominance rule improve the performance of the algorithm in both computation times and optimal values, but it needs longer times. Thus we tackle the problem of large sizes with local search algorithms descent method, simulated annealing and tabu search. The performance of these algorithms is evaluated on a large set of test problems and the results are compared. The computational results show that simulated annealing algorithm and Tabu search algorithm are better than descent method with preference to simulated annealing algorithm, and show that the three algorithms find optimal or near optimal solutions in reasonable times.

Abstract

Background and objective: Computed tomography angiography is one of the best methods for knowing the detailed anatomy of coronary arteries and can successfully detect any variation of coronary arteries. Anatomic variations of coronary arteries have not been studied among Erbil population which is mostly inhabited by Kurds. This study was conducted to compare the incidence of the anatomic variations of coronary arteries in Erbil population with international standards.Methods: Variations of coronary arteries were retrospectively studied by using computed tomography angiography of 412 cases (214 males 198 females) with mean age 51.5 ± 13.5 years (mean ± SD) who underwent this procedure on suspicion of coronary artery disease. The main indication was chest pain in patients with low to intermediate probability of ischemic heart disease. The present study was carried out in the Department of Radiology, Surgical Specialty Hospital/Cardiac Center in Erbil city. Results: The right coronary artery was dominant in 86.4% of cases, while the left main coronary artery was dominant in 10.92% of cases. Co-dominance was observed in 2.67% of cases, and Double Ostia of right aortic sinus was observed in 25% of cases. Long left main coronary artery was observed in 10.68 % of cases. Myocardial bridging was observed in 7.04% of cases. Other variations were also observed, and their prevalence was recorded.Conclusion: Variations of coronary arteries among Erbil population were recorded and were near to the international standards.

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at the field of Crop Science Department, College of Agriculture – University of Baghdad during spring and fall seasons 2009-2010. Two maize inbreds; Nz25 and B73 were planted to produce single crosses hybrid, F2, F3, BC1, BC2, BC3 and BC4. The 9 genotypes were compared using RCBD with three replicates. The hybrid vigor for the single crosses and inbreeding depression for F2 , F3 ,BC1 and BC4,the variances of environment ,additive and dominance and the degree of dominance and heritability, number of genes were estimated ,for number of ears.plant-1(NE.P-1), number of row.ear-1(NRE ),number of grain.row-1(NGR), weight for 300 grain (gm)(GW), number grain.ear-1(NGE )and grain yield.plant-1(GY) . The experimental results showed significant differences in all characters. In this study, the highest hybrid vigor especially in GY.P-1 of 161.53%. There was a decline in the characters in F2 , F3 , BC1 and BC2 so that we cannot recommend to use seeds for commercial production. The dominance genetic variance was significantly superior in all characters in this study than the additive, which indicate that the genetic variance is very important in influencing the studied traits .The estimations of the average of degree of dominance were more than one for all the studied characters. The broad sense heritability was high which ranged from 0.656 in NE.P-1 to 0.978 for GW, while there is a decline in narrow sense heritability which indicates an important dominance genetic superiority in the studied characters. The number of genes which control NE.P-1 initiation was accede 5 pairs and 4 for the NKR.E-1 imitation 14 for NK.R-1 and 18 for theNK.E-1 and16 pairs for the GW and more than 34 pairs for the GY.P-1, all these results which indicate that these characters should be improved by crossing followed by selection , for they are quantitative traits.

Abstract

This experiment was conducted at the field of Field Crop Dept. College of Agric / Univ.of Baghdad,to evaluate the genetic gene effects to some traits of maize. Six generations P1, P2, F1, F2, BC1 and BC2 for four crosses produced from crossing of genetically different six inbred lines. The six parameters were evaluated in randomized complete block design with four replications. The analysis of variance showed significant differences among generations. Means of F1′s were higher than the highest parent for all the traits of all crosses, indicated over dominance gene action. Hybrid vigor and heterosis were positive for most of traits for crosses. Result of scaling test for four criteria A , B, C, and D indicated significant effects of non-allelic interaction controlling genetic variation among six generations for seven traits. The mean effects were highly significant for all traits in all crosses indicated that all traits were quantitatively inherited, also indicated that lines had genetic diversity. Dominance effects were higher than mean and additive effects for all traits and all crosses, indicated the importance role of dominance component of gene action in inheritance traits. There were different type of epistasis interaction effects observed for various traits and crosses. Their values were varied for different trait and crosses. The dominance × dominance interactions were higher than other epistasis interaction effects.We can conclude that the traits in all crosses shown the complex behavior, hence the selection should be delayed after several generations of segregation until reached homoztgosity.

نفذت تجربة حقلية في حقل قسم علوم المحاصيل الحقلية –كلية الزراعة – جامعة بغداد، لتقدير التأثيرات الوراثية والتفوقية للجينات التي تحكم توريث بعض صفات الذرة الصفراء. تم التضريب بين ست سلالات مختلفة وراثيا لإنتاج ست أجيال هي P1 وP2 وF1 وF2 وBC1 وBC2 .تم تقدير هذه الثوابت باستخدام القطاعات الكاملة المعشاة بأربعة مكررات. أوضح تحليل التباين فروقا معنوية بين الأجيال الستة. كان متوسط الجيل الأول على من أعلى الأبوين لكل الصفات ولكل التضريبات، موضحا فعل التفوق للجين. كانت قوة الهجين والتهجن موجبة لأغلب الصفات للتضريبات المدروسة. أوضحت نتيجة اختبار scaling للمعايير الأربعةA وB وC و Dتأثيرات معنوية للتفاعل غير الاليلي الحاكم للتغايرات الوراثية بين الأجيال الستة وللصفات السبع. كان متوسط التأثيرات عالي المعنوية لكل الصفات ولكل التضريبات موضحا أن تلك الصفات كمية، وان السلالات المستخدمة متغايرة وراثيا. كانت تأثيرات السيادة أعلى من تأثيرات فعل الجين المضيف لكل الصفات ولكل التضريبات ، مبينة أهمية دور فعل الجين السيادي في توريث الصفات. تم ملاحظة أشكال مختلفة من التداخلات التفوقية للجينات لمختلف الصفات والتضريبات، وقد اختلفت قيمها بحسب الصفة والتضريب. كان شكل تأثير فعل الجين ا لتفوقي من نوع سيادي ×سيادي أعلى من بقية تأثيرات التفوقية ، لذا يمكن أن نستنتج أن سلوك الصفات في كل التضريبات كان معقدا لذا يحبذ تأخير الانتخاب إلى ما بعد عدة أجيال من الانعزال كي تصل الآباء إلى درجة عالية من التماثل الوراثي.

Abstract

The study aims at pointing out how the only female character in the play Ruth, who came from America to live with her husband's London family gained a dominant position in the family. She could change the entire patriarchal structure of the family via dislocating the father Max from his own place. All male characters except Sam are in a heterosexual struggle. They seek to satiate their unruly sexual desires using several ways to do so. This infirmity paves the way to Ruth to excite these desires by certain physical and oral behaviors. Moreover, she is being sexually desired and not desiring sex. She uses her shrewdness in yielding the male characters. In fact, what maintained Ruth's sexual dominance is the wild sex drives that all males have, and then to fulfill these drives they should offer some concessions, which enable Ruth to ascend and enjoy the central position inside the family. يهدف البحث الى توضيح كيف استطاعت راث الشخصية النسوية الوحيدة في المسرحية والتي قدمت من أمريكا لتعيش مع عائلة زوجها اللندنية أن تحصل موقع الهيمنة في العائلة. استطاعت هذه الشخصية أن تغير التركيبة البطريركية للعائلة من خلال إزاحة الأب ماكس من مكانه في العائلة. تتصارع كل الشخصيات الذكرية عدا سام مع الجنس المغاير وتسعى لإشباع رغباتها الجنسية الجامحة من خلال بعض الوسائل. مهد هذا النقص أو العيب الطريق لراث أن تثير تلك الرغبات بتصرفاتها الجسمانية و الشفهية. فهي مرغوب فيها وليست راغبة للجنس. استخدمت راث فطنتها في إخضاع الشخصيات؛ وما يؤكد هيمنتها الجنسية هو الشهوات الجنسية الجامحة لدى الشخصيات الذكرية ولإشباع هذه الشهوات ينبغي لتلك الشخصيات تقديم بعض التنازلات والتي بدورها مكنت راث من الاعتلاء والتمتع بمركز السيطرة في العائلة
