Background: the management of gun shoot wounds of the spinal cords (G sws) is still a
debate whether to interfere surgically or not, the interferance is usually laminectomy & Bullet
Objectives: A comparative prospective study between surgical & non-surgical management of
G sws.
Methods: A case series study of (52) patients with G sws were managed by the neurosurgical
unit in Ibn Sinna hospital in Mosul. 27 patients surgery was done, 25 patients non-surgical
A comparative study done according to the surgical outcome, improvement, mortality between
the 2 groups in a mean follow up period of 4.5 months.
Results: The mean age was 35, (9-50 years) , mean follow up 4.5 months (3-7 months)no
patients with non-surgical treatment show any improvement while 10 out 13 of incomplete
injury show significant improvement by surgery, the mortality rate was also higher in the non-
surgical group.
Conclusion:Bullet in the spinal cord with partial injury of the cord should be removed with
decompression of the cord complete injury of the cord show poor prognosis with or without
surgical intervention.

The effect of continuous Argon (Ar+) LASER with energy of 150 mW and wave length 515 nm and density of energy (CW) 1326.964W/cm2 upon Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria after focusing the LASER with a lens of focal length 15 cm for periods ranged between 5 – 25 minutes was studied. This study revealed that the diameters of killing areas exposed to the LASER beam were related directly to the periods of Ar+ LASER beam application and because gausses property of LASER beam the intensity of killing was more in the center and the areas exposed to the LASER beam were distinguished into two areas; the central area was dark in color and the killing in this area was highest, almost all bacteria were killed and killing in this area was incomplete

أثر الأرجون المستمر (سورة +) ليزر مع طاقة 150 ميجاوات، وطول موجة 515 نانومتر، وكثافة الطاقة (CW) 1326.964W/cm2 على بكتيريا الزائفة الزنجارية بعد تركيز الليزر مع عدسة البعد البؤري 15 سم لفترات تراوحت ما بين وتمت دراسة 25 دقيقة - 5. هذه الدراسة كشفت ان كانت هناك صلة بين أقطارها من المناطق مما أسفر عن مقتل تتعرض لأشعة الليزر مباشرة لفترات + ار تطبيق شعاع ليزر، ولأن gausses الملكية من شعاع الليزر شدة مما أسفر عن مقتل أكثر في الوسط، وكانت المناطق المعرضة لأشعة الليزر وكان تم في المنطقة الوسطى كانت مظلمة في اللون، وقتل في هذا المجال وكان أعلى، قتل ما يقرب من جميع الجراثيم وقتل في هذه المنطقة غير مكتملة، تتميز إلى منطقتين
