Urinary level of Matrix Metalloproteinase (MMP-9) as a biomarker in cystitis and schistosomal chronic cystitis patients

Abstract

Cystitis means inflammation of the bladder, specifically inflammation of bladder wall. Evaluating the level of urinary MMP-9 as a prognostic biomarker in cystitis (schistosomal and non schistosomal) was the aim of the study. Urine samples and bladder biopsies were collected from 50 cystitis patients who were included schistosomal chronic cystitis and non schistosomal cystitis and also from 38 healthy individuals as control. Urinary concentration of MMP-9 was measured by ELISA technique. Specificity and sensitivity of marker were also calculated. The results showed that MMP-9 urinary level was significantly increased in cystitis patients (3842.90pg/ml) compared to healthy (634.80pg/ml), there was a significant differences in the mean levels of urine MMP-9 for different age groups of patients, but non-significant between females and males. MMP-9 was elevated in both schistosomal chronic cystitis and non-schistosomal cystitis patients and this elevation of marker was higher in schistosomal chronic cystitis but with non-significant, also urine MMP-9 showed significant increase in males than females schistosomal cystitis, and statistical differences between age groups. Matrix Metalloproteinase was specific (87.47%) and was more sensitive (93.22 %) in cystitis patients. We concluded that MMP-9 has a role in inflammation processes of cystitis.

Abstract

This study was conducted to educate citizens to the unhealthy methodes in cooling the invasive drinks and juices in the summer and in the spread of refrigerated containers for thes fluids . The study showed after examining 120 refrigerated container in the province of Diwaniyah for duration three months are July,August and September that there obvious ratios existence. Eggs of parasites worms Faciola hepatica ,Faciola gigantica and Schistosoma hematobium. The total percentage parasite Faciola hepatica was 5% in the center of the province and the districts and counties the parasite Faciola gigantica 11.6% and the total percentage of the parasite Schistosoma hematobium was 5.5% . The containers has been divided to 60 in the center of the province and 60 in the province and district took three samples of water from each container for a number of samples 360 samples (180 of city center, 180 of the province and district), and then the ratios Seen eggs worm Faciola hepatica in the center is 6.6% either in districts, counties is 3.3%, while the worm Faciola gigantica, the percentages total to the presence of eggs in the samples is 11.1% in the city center either percentage Seen eggs in samples districts, counties are 12.2% was recorded eggs worm Schistosoma hematobium percentage amounted to 2.7% in the city center and 8. 3% in the districts and counties and the existence and spread of of these ratios leads to the spread of these worms and the spread of of parasitic diseases, so you should pay attention to the healthy ways to save invasive drinks, juices and healthy cooled and use ice cubes from water treatment.

اجريت هذه الدراسة بهدف توعية المواطنين الى الطرق غير الصحية في تبريد المشروبات الغازية والعصائر في فصل الصيف وانتشار الحاويات المبردة لهذه السوائل . وقد ظهر بعد فحص 120 حاوية مبردة في محافظة الديوانية ولمدة ثلاثة اشهر هي تموز واب وايلول في العام 2012 وجود بيوض ديدان الطفيليات ، وقد بلغت النسبة الكلية لكل من Fasciola hepatica وFasciola gigantica و Schistosoma hematobium في المركز والنواحي 5% . Fasciola hepatica بطفيلي أما طفيلي Fasciola gigantica11.6% وقد بلغت النسبة الكلية لطفيلي schistosoma hematobium 5.5% . وقد تم تقسيم الحاويات الى 60 حاوية في مركز المحافظة و60 حاوية في الاقضية والنواحي وقد تم اخذ ثلاثة عينات من الماء من كل حاوية ليبلغ عدد العينات 360 عينة (180 من المركزو180من الاقضية والنواحي) وعندها كانت نسب تواجد بيوض دودة Fasciola hepatica في المركز هي 6.6% اما في الاقضية والنواحي هي 3.3% , اما دودة Fasciola gigantica فان النسب الكلية لوجود بيوضها في العينات هي 11.1% في مركز المدينة اما نسبة تواجد بيوضها في عينات الاقضية والنواحي هي 12.2% وقد سجلت بيوض دودة Schistosoma hematobium نسبة مئوية بلغت 2.7% في مركز المدينة و8.3%في الاقضية والنواحي .
