Abstract

In the present study, composites were prepared by Hand lay-up molding. The composites constituents were epoxy resin as the matrix, 3% volume fractions of Glass Fibers (G.F) as re enforcement and 2%, 4%, 6% volume fraction of micro powder (Aluminum Oxide Al2O3, Silicon Oxide SiO2 and Titanium Oxide TiO2) as filler. Studied the, hardness test, flexural strength, density, water absorption measurements and tests were conducted to reveal their values for each type of composite material. The results showed that the non – reinforced epoxy have lower properties than nano composites material. Measured density results had show an incremental increase with volume fraction increase and water absorption, hardness, and flexural strength had show an incremental increase with volume fraction increase and with smaller particle size.

Abstract

Glass fibers reinforced mortar is a modern composite material in the field of construction. This composite consists of cementitious matrix includes cement, sand and water and reinforcement which is represented by glass fibers. This study aims to show the effect of addition random dispersed glass fibers and layers glass fibers on water absorption, velocity of ultrasound wave passing through the reinforced mortar and acoustic impedance of mortar. Mixtures of 1:2 cement/sand ratio and 0.5 water/cement ratio were prepared to make the mortar. Two series of mortars reinforced by glass fibers (random and layers) were prepared. Each series were reinforced with different percentage (0.54, 0.76, 1.1 and 1.42)wt.%. Glass fibers reinforced mortar exhibits better properties than plain mortar. The increasing in glass fibers addition caused an improvement on mortar by reduction of water absorption, ultrasound wave velocity and acoustic impedance. The addition of glass fibers layers showed better properties than random addition after curing for 7 and 28 days.

الملاط المدعم بألياف الزجاج هي مادة مركبة حديثة في مجال الإنشاءات. تتألف هذه المادة المركبة من مادة الأساس الإسمنتية ومادة التقوية. تتكون مادة الأساس الإسمنتية من الإسمنت والرمل والماء كما تمثلت مادة التقوية بألياف الزجاج. تهدف هذه الرسالة لإظهار تأثير اضافة الياف الزجاج العشوائية وطبقات الياف الزجاج على امتصاصية الماء و سرعة الموجة فوق الصوتية النافذة خلال الملاط المدعم بألياف الزجاج بالإضافة الى دراسة الممانعة الصوتية. تم تحضير خلطات من الملاط بنسبة خلط وزنية (1:2 اسمنت- رمل) ونسبة الماء الى الإسمنت (0.5). كما تم تحضير سلسلتين من الملاط المدعم بألياف الزجاج (عشوائية و طبقات). تم اضافة نسب وزنية مختلفة من الياف الزجاج لكلا السلسلتين (0.54, 0.76, 1.1, 1.42)%. المونة المدعمة بألياف الزجاج اظهرت خواص افضل منها في الحالة الغير مدعمة. الزيادة في اضافة الياف الزجاج اظهرت تحسينا في خواص المونة من خلال تقليل كل من قابلية امتصاص الماء و سرعة الموجة فوق الصوتية والممانعة الصوتية.

Abstract

: In this research different mixes were prepared with Cement-Sand ratio (1:3) and Water- Cement (0.5) by weight. Four sets were prepared by partially or full replacing the sand with crumb rubber tire to fabricate the Crumb Rubber-Mortar (CRM) mixtures. The first two sets include fine crumb rubber with particles size (0.3-1 mm), The other set include coarse crumb rubber with particles size (1.18-2.36 mm).The third and fourth sets were prepared as the same first sets but with the addition of (7%) Styrene–Butadiene Rubber (SBR) latex by weight of cement. Each set was consist of different percentage of replacing the sand by crumb rubber (10,30,50,100%) by volume. Tests were conducted, including water absorption and compressive strength. Several results obtained before and after the addition of Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (SBR) which shows an increase in crumb rubber percentage cause decrease in compressive strength and water absorption; while as the density increases the compressive strength and water absorption increased before the addition of SBR. After the addition of SBR to the crumb Rubber-Mortar the compressive strength and water absorption are improved. In general fine crumb Rubber-Mortar have better properties than coarse crumb Rubber-Mortar.

تناول البحث تحضير خلطات مختلفة للملاط بنسبة وزنية (1:3 أسمنت- رمل) ونسبة الماء الى الاسمنت (0.5) , حيث حضرت اربع مجاميع وذلك باستبدال جزئي او كلي للرمل مع مطاط الاطارات المفرومة لتصنيع خلطات ملاط - مفروم المطاط (CRM). تضمنت المجموعتين الاولى والثانية مفروم اطارات بدون اضافة مطاط الستايرين-بيوتادين (SBR) احدهما بحجم جزيئي ناعم (0.3-1 mm) و الاخرى تضمنت مفروم اطارات خشن بحجم جزيئي (1.18-2.36 mm) .اما المجموعتين الثالثة والرابعة فحضرت بنفس مواصفات المجاميع الاولى ولكن بعد اضافة(7%) SBR من وزن الاسمنت. تم استبدال الرمل بمفروم المطاط (10,30,50,100%) استبدالاً حجمياً لكل المجاميع. الفحوصات التي اجريت تتضمن امتصاصية الماء ومقاومة الانضغاط. حيث تم الحصول على العديد من النتائج قبل وبعد اضافة (SBR) التي أظهرت ان الزيادة في نسبة المطاط تؤدي الى نقصان في امتصاصية الماء ومقاومة الانضغاط , في حين الزيادة في الكثافة تؤدي الى زيادة في امتصاصية الماء ومقاومة الانضغاط. بعد اضافة (SBR) الى ملاط - مفروم المطاط تم تحسين امتصاصية الماء ومقاومة الانضغاط. بصورة عامة فأن ملاط - مفروم المطاط الناعم يمتلك خواص افضل من ملاط - مفروم المطاط الخشن.

Abstract

This paper aims to investigate the influence of replacement of cement with nano and micro silica admixtures on some durability properties of concrete such as water absorption, chloride content and pH tests. Three replacement ratios (5%,10%,15%) of micro silica and four replacement proportions (0.5%,1.5%,3%,5%) for nano silica were used in this study. Two exposure conditions were considered for chloride content test: wetting-drying and full immersing exposure in 6% of chloride ions solution, NaCl type.Results showed that mixes of %5 micro silica and 5% nano silica had lower content of chloride (about 0.19% and 0.18%) for wetting-drying and full immersing exposure respectively. For water absorption test, all mixes incorporated micro and nano silica, except for %5 micro silica mix, showed lower absorption than control mixes. For pH test, results indicated that the adding of nano and micro silica didn’t affect adversely the alkalinity of concrete

تهدف هذه الدراسة الى التحري عن تأثير استبدال السمنت بمضافات النانو والمايكرو سليكا على بعض خواص الديمومة للخرسانة مثل امتصاص الماء، محتوى الكلوريد و فحص القاعدية. تم استخدام ثلاث نسب استبدال (%5،10%،15%) للمايكرو سليكا واربع نسب استبدال (%0.5،%1.5،%3،5%) للنانو سليكا. تم اعتماد اسلوبي تعرض لفحص محتوى الكلوريد: تجفيف-ترطيب وغمر كلي في محلول 6% ايونات الكلوريد، نوع كلوريد الصوديوم.اظهرت النتائج بان الخلطات 5% مايكرو سليكا و5% نانو سليكا امتلكت اقل محتوى كلوريد ( حوالي 0.19% و 0.18 %) لأسلوبي التعرض تجفيف-ترطيب وغمر كلي على التوالي. بالنسبة لفحص الامتصاص، فان نتائج جميع الخلطات الحاوية على مايكرو ونانو سليكا، عدا الخلطة 5% مايكرو سليكا, اظهرت امتصاص اقل من الخلطات المرجعية. بالنسبة لفحص درجة القاعدية, فقد اشارت النتائج بان اضافة النانو والمايكرو سليكا لم تؤثر سلبيا على قاعدية الخرسانة.

Abstract

This research is a study of the effect of Al2O3 powder on physical and mechanical properties of the polymer hybrid composites based on unsaturated polyester resin reinforced with carbon and glass fibers. The samples were made by a hand lay-up method according to ASTM standard for various volume fractions of additives. The polymer composites materials reinforced with carbon and glass fibers are the most used in manufacture of components such as pip, part of aerospace, and leisure industries and automotive.The polyester resin matrixwas strengthened with 3% carbon and glass fibers with 1%, 3%, 5%, 7% Al2O3 powders. The water absorption, hardness (shore D), impact test, and flexural strength properties are studied. The results show the specimens (UP+3%C.F+7%Al2O3) and(UP+3%G.F+7%Al2O3) had the maximum hardness (shore D) and water absorptionwhen compared withunfilledpolyester resinspecimen, it can be observed that the specimens(UP+3%C.F+5%Al2O3) and (UP+3%G.F+5%Al2O3) have maximum impact strength and flexural strengthcompared with specimens (UP+3%C.F+7%Al2O3)and (UP+3%G.F+7%Al2O3) .

Abstract

Poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA), are widely used as a prosthodontic denture base, the denture base materials should exhibit good mechanical properties and dimensional stability in moist environment. In the present research, efforts were made to develop the properties of PMMA resin that used for upper and lower prosthesis complete denture, by addition four different types of nanoparticles, which are fly ash, fly dust, zirconia and aluminum that added with different ratios of volume fractions of (1%, 2% and 3%) to poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA), cold cured resin (castavaria) is the new fluid resin (pour type) as a matrix. In this work, the Nano composite and hybrid Nano composite for prosthetic dentures specimens, preparation was done by using (Hand Lay-Up) method as six groups which includes: the first three groups consists of PMMA resin reinforced by fly ash , fly dust and ZrO2 nanoparticles respectively, the second three groups consists of three types of hybrid Nano composites, which includes ((PMMA:X% fly ash)+ (1%Al + 3% ZrO2 )), ((PMMA:X% fly dust)+ (1%Al + 3% ZrO2)) and ((PMMA:X%nZrO2)+(1%fly ash+3%fly dust)) respectively. As well as, the effect of water absorption was taking into consideration in this study. The compression test results show that the values of the compressive strength with and without the effect of water absorption increased with the addition of Nano powders (fly ash, fly dust, zirconia, and aluminum). Also, the results showed that the maximum values of compressive strength reach to 286.25MPa for (PMMA: 2%nZrO2) Nano composite. Whereas the maximum values of compressive strength for hybrid Nano composite reach to 270MPa for ((PMMA: 2%fly ash) + (1%Al + 3% ZrO2)) hybrid Nano composite. Moreover, the results showed that the maximum value of compressive strength under the effect of water absorption reach to 335MPa in the Nano composite material (PMMA+2% fly dust), whereas the maximum value of compressive strength under the effect of water absorption for hybrid Nano composite reach to 362MPa for ((PMMA: 2% fly dust) + (1%Al + 3% ZrO2)) hybrid Nano composite.

Abstract

In this research study Hardness (shore D), Water absorption, Flexural, Impact Test, and Fracture Toughness of polymer nano composites.The polymer nano composites based on unsaturated polyester resin reinforced with Kevlar fibers (K.F). The samples are attended by hand lay – up method according to (Rule mixture) for various volume fractions of unsaturated polyester resin, fiber and carbon nanotube. The polyester resin was matrix strengthened with 3% volume fraction from Kevlar fiber and (0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%( volume fractions of carbon nanotube. The water absorption, hardness (shore D), flexural test, impact testand toughness fracture properties were studied. Results showed that the water absorption increase with volume fraction increase of fiber with Carbon Nanotube, the sample (polyester+3%K.F+0.5% CNTs) has lower water absorption than other samples. The hardness (shore D), flexural test, impact testand toughness fracture for the sample (polyester+3%C.F+0.5% CNTs) has higher value for Nano- composites. Nano composites, Carbon nanotube, Kevlar fiber, Hardness (shore D), Water absorption, Flexural Strength, Impact Test, Toughness Fracture.

تم في هذا البحث دراسة الصلادة (شورD), امتصاصية الماء, مقاومة الكسر, اختبار الصدمة و متانة الكسر لمتراكبات نانوية ذات اساس راتنج البولي استر غير المشبع مقواة بألياف الكفلر. العينات جهزت بطريقة الصب اليدوي وفقالقاعدة الخلط لكسور حجمية مختلفة من راتنج البولي استر غير المشبع والالياف وانابيب الكاربون النانوية. راتنج البولي استر كان ارضية مقواة مع 3%كسر حجمي من الياف الكفلر و (0.5 ,1 ,1.5 , 2 ) % كسر حجمي لانابيب الكاربون النانوية. تم دراسة خواص امتصاصية الماء, صلادة (شور(D, اختبار الصدمة ومقاومة الكسر. اظهرت النتائج بان امتصاصيه الماء تزداد مع زيادة الكسر الحجمي للالياف مع انابيب الكاربون النانوية, العينه (بولي استر + 3% الياف كفلر + 0.5 % انابيب اكاربون النانوية) تمتلك اقل امتصاصية ماء من العينات الاخرى. الصلادة (شورD), فحص الكسر, فحص الصدمة ومتانة الكسر للعينه (بولي استر +3% الياف كفلر + 0.5 %انابيب الكاربون انانوية) تمتلك اعلى قيمه للمتراكبات النانوية.
