Cytological and bacterial analysis of transtracheal aspirate from stray cats in AL-Qadisiyah province/ Iraq

Abstract

This study was conducted to count the cytological parameters; total protein (TP), white blood cells count WBCs and differential (WBCs); from transtracheal aspirate (TTA) and microbial detection from thirty cats in Al-Qadisiyah province. Both genders were involved and the cats ranged in 1-3 years old. The mean total protein measured by the spectrophotometer was (89±0.04) mg/dl, mean WBCs was (925±0.7) cell/µl and the mean differential WBCs record 61% alveolar macrophages, 31% eosinophils and 8% neutrophils. Microbial investigation has revealed that respiratory tract of cats have no flora and we could not observe any respiratory infection in the captured cats; it may be related to the physiological and immunological adaptation of the respiratory system through the presence of the alveolar macrophage with a high percentage concerning other WBCs. There was no obvious regard to gender or age on these limitations.

Abstract

background: Several pathologies of the oral cavity have been associated with tension. The association between stress and the occurrence of oral disease is based on clinical observations, epidemiological research, and experiments with animals. Aim of study: The aim of this study was to identify the effect of acute tension on some salivary glands functions, and relationship the age with this tensionMaterials and Methods: Twenty three of students from AL-karama school of girls (age 7-12 year) and thirty undergraduate pharmacy females students (age 20-24 year) were participated in this study. They were asked to provide two samples of unstimulated whole saliva for 5 minutes, the first sample collected after a week end in the usual academic day as a control group, the second sample was collected after one month later in a first day of final examinations of a scholastic year. Total protein, albumin, uric acid and calcium levels in tow samples were assessed. Results & Discussion: The results showed a significant stress mediated decrease in the salivary calcium concentration (2.8813 mg/dl) in comparison with non-stressful condition (6.8020 mg/dl). and albumin concentration (1.608 g/dl were decreased by comparison with normal value (2.818 mg/ dl), while uric acid (6.874 mg/dl in sample under stress, 4.330 mg/dl in normal sample) and total protein concentrations (75.20 g/l for girl without stress, 107.15 g/l under stress) were elevated respectively all these result in age range (20–24year). While in age range (7 – 12 year) the result was as a follow:- for uric acid the value for sample under stress was highly than in normal condition (5.118 mg/dl while to sample without tension is 3.200 mg/dl). level of albumin is (2.195 g/dl to girl under stress and 4.388 g/dl in normal condition) that men there is a significant decrease in albumin level .also the result showed a significant decrease change in calcium level (2.6707mg/dl while in normal sample is 5.038 mg/dl) also we showed a significant elevation level in total protein (81.567g/l) comparison with normal sample (68.600 g/l) all these changes were statistically significant as we showed. Our search also compared between the age group and its relationship with acute tension. So, the level of uric acid in age (7-12 and 20 -24) are (5.118 mg/dl , 6.874 mg/dl) sequential ,while non-significant change in level of albumin in both age group in opposite to value of calcium and total protein we showed a highly level in age between (20- 24 year) in comparison with (7-12 year). Conclusion The results suggest that acute psychological stress exerts its effect on salivary composition and this will increase the value of saliva as dynamic biological fluid in controlling the oral health. Also this search suggest the effect of age to the composition of saliva.

Abstract

Abstract The study aimed to compared the effect of camphor ,glycin and prepared chemical base on the liver enzymes and blood proteins values .32malesand females of wister albino rats were used in the present study . randomly divided into 4 groups(n=8) . the control group was given olive oil only,3 experimental groups injected daily intraperitoneal injection of (75 mg/kg)from (glycin ,camphorand Schiff base )solutied in olive oil . All groups were kept in the same environmental conditions.At the end of 4 weeks all rats were killed and collected the blood serum for analysis .the glycin group significantly decreased in liver enzyme levels (AST,ALT,ALP)but significantly increased in blood proteins parameters levels(TP,GLU,ALB) compared with control group.study showed significance increased in both liver enzymes and blood protiens levels in groups which treated with (camphor & Schiff base )compared with the control group.The present study showed that used camphor and the new Schiff base haved the same effected on the liver enzymes and blood protiens.

Abstract

Background: stress is the reactions of the body to forces of a deleterious nature, infections and various abnormal states that tend to disturb its normal physiological equilibrium; It is described as adverse emotions or reactions to unpleasant experiences; Thus, any real or perceived physical, social, or psychological event or stimulus that causes bodies to react or respond have deleterious effects on the general and oral health. The aims of this study were to assess the severity of dental caries among the students with different categories of stressful life events in relation to physicochemical characteristics of whole stimulated saliva.Materials and Methods: the total sample is composed of 300 students (males only) aged 17-18 years old, who are randomly selected from 10 school in the First Al-Karkh/Baghdad. The total sample classified into three categories (less stress, more stress, accumulative stress) according to stressful life events scale (SLE); the sub sample consist of 60 students who are randomly selected from the total sample each category composed of 20 students. Diagnosis and recording of dental caries was assessed according to Decay, Missed, Filled surface index (D1-4MFS) of Muhlemann (1976). Stimulated salivary samples were collected from the 60 students then measuring salivary flow rate; and chemically analyzed to determine salivary interlukin-6 (IL-6), cortisol, and total protein. All data were analyzed using SPSS version 21.Results: Results recorded the highest mean rank value of (DMFS) was among the accumulative stress category of stressful life events scale followed by more stress category, the lowest mean rank value was among less stress category with statistically high significant difference (P< 0.001). For the severity of dental caries (DS) Fraction was higher among the accumulative stress category than more stress and less stress categories respectively (P< 0.001). According to the grades of lesion severity, for all fractions the higher mean rank values was among accumulative stress category with no statically differences except for (D2) was significant (P< 0.05). The data from salivary analysis showed that, the highest values of salivary total protein and (IL-6) were among the accumulative stress category, followed by more stress then the lowest value among less stress category, while the cortisol showed the opposite picture, however all these differences were not significant. DMFS correlated positively with flow rate among less stress and accumulative stress categories and negatively with more stress category, while for (DS) correlated negatively with flow rate with highly significant for more stress category and accumulative category and positively related with significant for low stress category. The salivary constituents showed negative correlation with (DMFS) for all categories of stressful life events scale except for IL-6 and cortisol were positively correlated for accumulative category with non-significant difference.Conclusion: The study revealed that, stressful life events have a significant deleterious impact on the oral and dental health including caries experience as well as the effect on the normal levels of salivary constituents

Abstract

The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of high salinity on the some stress parameters of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) which gradually exposed to salt concentrations of 5, 10 and 15g/liter, as well as tap water (control 0.1g/liter) for 90 days .80 fish were randomly distributed on eight glass tanks with 2 replicates as 10 fish / replicate at average weight of 15 ± 3 g to study the effect of salinity on the Total protein , Glucose ,and Lactate in blood plasma , Fish were fed during the trial on commercial diet with 31.9 % protein content.. Results showed that an increase in the total protein to 4.98 and then decrease to 4.60 and 3.90 g/100 cm3 when the salinity increased to 5, 10 and 15 g/l respectively, compared with the control treatment (4.94 g/100 cm3). Glucose reached 75.11, 91.20 and 95.17 mg/100 ml at the concentrations of 5, 10 and 15 g/l respectively, compared with the control treatment (66.64 mg/100ml). Lactate also increased to 43.12, 45.38 and 48.53 mg/100 ml , when the salinity increased to 5 , 10 and 15 g/l respectively, in comparison with control treatment (40.65 mg/100 ml) .

أجريت الدراسة الحالية لتسليط الضوء على تأثير ارتفاع الملوحة في بعض معايير الاجهاد لاسماك الكارب الشائع (Cyprinus carpio)، إذ تم تعريض الأسماك بصورة تدريجية الى التراكيز الملحية 5 و10 و15 غم /لتر فضلاً عن معاملة السيطرة (0.1 غم/ لتر) لمدة 90 يوماً ، بواقع معاملة لكل تركيز ملحي ولمكررين. وزعت 80 سمكة عشوائياً على ثمانية احواض احواض زجاجية بواقع 10 سمكة / حوض بمعدل وزن 15 ±3 غم لدراسة تأثير الملوحة في مستويات كلوكوز الدم والبروتين الكلي و اللاكتيت . غذيت الأسماك اثناء التجربة على عليقة غذائية تجارية ذات مستوى بروتين 31.9 % ، أظهــرت النتائج حصول ارتفاع طفيف في مستوى البروتينات الكلية في البلازما بارتفاع الملوحة إلى 5 غم/لتر وبلغت 4.98 غم/100سم3 ، مقارنةً بعينة السيطرة ( 4.94 غم/100سم3 ) ، بينما بدأ مستوى البروتينات الكلية في البلازما بالانخفاض الى 4.60 و 3.90 غم/100سم3 عند ارتفاع الملوحة إلى 10 و 15 غم/لتر على التوالي ، اما الكلوكوز فقد أخذ مستواه بالارتفاع في الدم الى 75.11 و 91.20 و 95.17 ملغم / 100 مل بارتفاع الملوحة إلى 5 و 10 و15 غم/لتر على التوالي مقارنةً بمستواه في عينة السيطرة (66.64 ملغم/100 مل) . بينما ارتفع اللاكتيت الى التراكيز 43.12 و45.38 و48.53 ملغم/100 مل في التراكيز 5 و10 و15 غم /لتر على التوالي مقارنةً بعينة السيطرة (40.65) ملغم /100 مل .

Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of using different concentrations of the green extract of green tea Camellia sinensis in the level of triglycerides, cholesterol, lipoproteins, total protein and melonaldehyde in Mus musculus. In the experiment, 50 male mice were used at a rate of 8-12 weeks with a weight of 25-20. The first group considered the control group, the distilled water was harvested, the second group had given 100 mg of the extract /g from body weight as well as the third group was given 250 mg of the extract. While the fourth group 500 mg of the extract have been dosed/g from body weight and finally the fifth group had 1000 mg dosage of the extract/ g from body weight. The green tea extract was obtained after grinding the leaves of the green tea plant using grindre and utilize the soxhelet apparatus to prepare the extract. After the expiry of the treatment period 16 days, the animals were killed and the blood was withdrawn to perform the necessary tests which included estimating the lipid profile variables in serum Which include: total cholesterol, triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-cholesterol), very low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (VLDL) cholesterol. Also the levels of total protein, Albumin, Globulin, and Malondihyde (MDA) were estimated. The results showed a non significant decrease in the total cholesterol level, while the levels of triglycerides, LDL-Ch and VLDL-Ch decreased significantly at (P <0.05) in concurrence with the increased of the extract concentration as well as the green tea extrat elevated the total protein, albumin and the globulin levels. The MDA level decreased significantly in at (P<0.05) coincide with increased concentration of the extract. Green tea acts as an antioxidant for LDL and triglyceride, which reduces the risk of heart diseases and reduces the level of malandhydhydide, which is a sign of lipid peroxidation which produced when the cells attacking by the free radicals

أجريت هذه الدراسة لمعرفة تأثير استخدام تراكيز مختلفة من المستخلص الكحولي للشاي الأخضرCamellia sinensis على مستوى الدهون الثلاثية والكوليسترول والبروتينات الدهنية ومستوى البروتين الكلي والمالوناألدهايد في الفئران Mus musculusاستخدمت في التجربة 50 فأرا ذكريا بمعدل عمر يتراوح ما بين 8-12 أسبوع وبمعدل وزن 25-20 غم تم الحصول عليها من البيت الحيواني التابع لكيلة العلوم جامعة كركوك وقسمت إلى خمسة مجاميع حيث تضم كل مجموعة (10 حيوانات). اعتبرت المجموعة الأولى مجموعة السيطرة وأعطيت الماء المقطر فقط وأعطيت المجموعة الثانية100 ملغم من المستخلص/ غم وزن الجسم بينما جرعت المجموعة الثالثة 250 ملغم من المستخلص/ غم وزن الجسم وجرعت المجموعة الرابعة 500 ملغم من المستخلص/ غم وزن الجسم وأخيرا المجموعة الخامسة أعطيت 1000 ملغم من المستخلص/ غم وزن الجسم. مستخلص الشاي الأخضر حضر بعد طحن أوراق نبات الشاي الأخضر باستخدام طاحونة كهربائية grindre واستخدام جهاز السكسوليت soxhelet apparatus لتحضير المستخلص، بعد انتهاء المدة المقررة للمعاملة 16 يوم تم قتل الحيوانات وسحب الدم لأجراء الاختبارات اللازمة التي اشتملت على تقدير متغيرات مرتسم الدهون Lipid profile في مصل الدم والتي تضم: (الكوليستيرول الكلي Total cholesterol والدهون الثلاثية Triglyceride والبروتينات الدهنية عالية الكثافة للكوليسترول HDL- cholesterol والبروتينات الدهنية واطئة الكثافة للكوليسترول cholesterol - LDLوالبروتينات الدهنية واطئة الكثافة جداً للكوليسترول cholesterol VLDL- وتم أجراء تقدير مستوى البروتين الكلي Total Protein ,الألبومين Albumin والكلوبيولين Globulin ومستوى المالوندألدهايد Malonaldihyde(MDA). أظهرت النتائج انخفاض غير معنوي في مستوى الكوليسترول الكلي بينما أنخفض مستوى الدهون الثلاثية ومستوى LDL-Ch ومستوى VLDL-Ch بشكل معنوي عند مستوى احتمال (P<0.05) بالتزامن مع زيادة تركيز المستخلص وبلغ أقل متوسط في مجموعة التركيز 100 ملغم/ مل، بينما بينت النتائج ارتفاع معنوي في مستوى HDL-Ch وبلغ أعلى متوسط في مجموعة التركيز 1000 ملغم/ مل كما أظهرت النتائج الإحصائية ارتفاع معنوي عند مستوى احتمال (P<0.05) في مستوى البروتين الكلي ومستوى الألبومين ومستوى الكلوبيولين وتزامن الارتفاع مع زيادة تركيز المستخلص وبلغ أعلى متوسط في مجموعة التركيز 1000 ملغم/ مل أما مستوىMDA فقد أنخفض معنويا وبلغ أقل متوسط في مجموعة التركيز 1000 ملغم/ مل. نستنتج من ذلك أن الشاي الأخضر يعمل كمخفض للكوليسترول الضار والدهون الثلاثية مما يقلل من مخاطر الإصابة بأمراض القلب كما أنه خفض مستوى المالوندألدهايد الذي يعد دليل على حدوث عملية أكسدة الدهون التي تنتج عند مهاجمة الجذور الحرة للخلايا
