Abstract

ABSCTRACT:BACKGROUND:‎ ‎The term cavity is a gas-filled space that appears on imaging as ‎an area of low attenuation surrounded by a variously thickened wall within a pulmonary consolidation, mass, or nodule. ‎Multidetector computed tomography (CT) of the chest is the current technique ‎of choice for evaluating lung cavities.‎OBJECTIVE: To assess the role of some computed tomography criteria in ‎differentiating benign ‎from malignant solitary cavitary lung lesion.‎PATIENT AND METHODS: This was a cross sectional study done in the Computed Tomography ‎unit of Al-Immamain Al-‎Kadhmain Medical city in Baghdad, Iraq between ‎October, ‎‎2016 and June, 2017. All patients presented with solitary pulmonary cavitary lesions ‎‎detected by chest x-ray referred for different reasons. ‎‎Examination of ‎the chest was ‎performed by multi-detector CT (Somatom definition edge, SIEMENS ‎‎medical system, Germany (256 slices)) with 2 sets of CT examination one ‎before and another ‎after giving IV nonionic iodinated contrast ‎medium (Ultravist 370 mg /ml), 1.5 ml/kg Body ‎weight. ‎The final diagnosis was obtained depending on the sputum ‎culture for AFB, ‎bronchoscopy and biopsy, bronchoscopy and brush ‎cytology and true cut biopsy. ‎RESULTS: The study included 50 patients with solitary pulmonary ‎cavitary lesions, 54% were male and 46% were females. Final diagnosis was 80% diagnosed as ‎benign and 20% as malignant lesions. Enhancement was ‎significant among 20% of studied patients. The common associated CT scan ‎features were pleural effusion (24%), consolidation (12%), consolidation and tree ‎in Bud (10%), pleural effusion and mediastinal lymph nodes (8%), tree in bud ‎‎(10%), mediastinal lymph node and consolidation (8%), ground glass opacification, ‎honeycombing and tree in bud (6%), pleural effusion and tree in bud (4%), fibrosis ‎‎(2%) and encysted hydro-pneumothorax (2%). There was a highly significant association of significant enhancement and ‎ Pleural effusion ‎ with malignant solitary cavitary lesions (p<0.001 and p=0.003‎). A highly significant ‎association was observed between increased mean thickness of lesion and ‎malignant solitary cavitary lesion (p<0.001) ‎CONCLUSION: ‎ The common computerized tomography characteristics of malignant solitary ‎pulmonary cavitary lesions were significant enhancement, pleural effusion and ‎increased diameter and thickness of pulmonary cavities.‎

Abstract

This research describes the seepage characteristics of experimental model test of dam with cutoff located at different region (at dam heel, at mid floor of dam, and at dam toe). It is resting on sandy soil with cavity at different locations in X and Y directions (such as in Al-Najaf soil city). Thirty three model tests are performed in laboratory by using steel box to estimate the quantity of the seepage and flow lines direction. It was concluded that the best location of the cutoff wall is at the dam toe for model test with cavity ( Xc B = 0 and 0.5), but for model test with cavity ( Xc B ≥1), the best location of the sheet pile wall becomes at the dam heel. For negative location of the cavity, the best location of the sheet pile wall is at the middle of the floor dam.

Abstract

The analytical study of optical bistability is concerned in a fully optimized laser Fabry-Perot system. The related phenomena of switching dynamics and optimization procedure are also included. From the steady state of optical bistability equation can plot the incident intensity versus the round trip phase shift (φ) for different values of dark mistuning or finesse (F= 1, 5, 20, 100). In order to obtain different optical bistable loops. The input-output characteristic for a nonlinear Fabry-Perot etalon of a different values of finesse (F) and using different initial detuning (φ0) are used in this research. When the cavity finesse values increase, the switch-ON intensity increases for the same value of (φ0), because the bistable loop width increases with increasing the cavity finesse values.

في هذا البحث, تم اجراء دراسة تحليلية لظاهرة الاستقرارية الثنائية البصرية لنظام مكون من ليزر مستمر مع مرنان فابري – بيروت ذو وسط لا خطي. ودراسة ديناميكية الفتح والغلق البصري وايجاد الحالات المثلى لتلك الظاهرة. ومن خلال معادلة الاستقرارية الثنائية البصرية للحالة المستقرة لتجويف المرنان نستطيع رسم علاقة بيانية للشدة الساقطة على وسط المرنان كدالة لازاحة الطور ولقيم مختلفة من درجة الموالفة الابتدائية لدالة الطور (φ0) او لدرجة الدقة للنظام اللاخطي ((finesse. وذلك للحصول على قيم مختلفة لحلقات ثنائية الاستقرار البصرية. وفي هذا البحث ايظا, تم استعمال خصائص الادخال والاخراج لمرنان فابري-بيروت ذو الوسط اللاخطي ولقيم مختلفة من درجة الدقة, فعند زيادة قيم درجة الدقة لتجويف المرنان فان شدة الفتح ((witch-on البصري ستزداد لنفس قيم دالة الطور الابتدائية, وهذا نتيجة زيادة عرض حلقة ثنائية الاستقرار البصرية مع زيادة قيم درجة الدقة لتجويف المرنان.

Abstract

In the present paper the natural convection in a squarecavity utilizing Cu-water nanofluid is examined numerically.The cavity is exposed to cooling air stream with free streamtemperature (T∞) from left wall and its right and bottom wallskept with cold and hot temperatures (TC) and (TH) respectively,while the cavity top wall considered as adiabatic. The nanofluidflow inside the cavity is assumed to be laminar and obeying toBoussinesq approximation. The governing equations are solvedby finite volume method using ANSYS FLUENT code. Theresults are accomplished with a range of nanofluid volumefraction =0–0.16, Rayleigh number Ra=103–105 and freestream Reynolds number Re∞=103–104. The effects of thesevariables are displayed on the stream function (), isotherms ()contours and average Nusselt number (Nuavg). The results showthe heat transfer rate augmented with increasing , Ra and Re∞.Also, the increment in both  and Ra increases the circulationinside the cavity while increasing Re∞ produces secondaryvortices and reduces circulation at the main vortex of the cavity.The results of local Nusselt number (Nu) and isotherms () arecompared with other studies and show good agreement withmaximum error values 14.28% and 3.2% respectively.

Abstract

The histological observations of this study which conducted on nasal cavity of black Iraqi goatrevealed that the nasal cavity consisted of three regions (vestibular, respiratory and olfactory.(The vestibular region was narrow zone, lined with (non keratinized) stratified squamousepithelium, and its propria submucosa contained serous glands and blood vessels. The respiratory region was lined with ciliated pseudostratified columnar epithelia with gobletcells. The vascular propria submucosa had mucous glands, which were positive to periodic acdic shieffand Alcian blue stains. The olfactory region was lined with thick pseudostratified columnarepithelium devoid of goblet cells and contained, the propria submucosa serous simple acinusAlcian positive glands (Bowman's glands) and numerous nerve bundles. The histological resultsconcluded that the nasal cavity of black Iraqi goat was good adaptive toole for hot dustyenvironment.

أظهرت الدراسة النسجية التي اجريت على الماعز العراقي الأسود أن التجويف الأنفي يتكون من ثلاثة مناطق (الدهليز , التنفسي , الشمي) يكون الدهليز عبارة عن منطقة ضيقة, مبطن بظهارة حرشفية مطبقة غير متقرنة, تحتوي الطبقة اللبادية تحت المخاطية على غدد عنبية مصلية وأوعية دموية. المنطقة التنفسية مبطنة بظهارة عمودية مطبقة كاذبة مهدبة وتحتوي على خلايا كاسية, وأن الطبقة اللبادية تحت المخاطية غنية بالاوعية الدموية وتحتوي على غدد مخاطية ذات تفاعل أيجابي مع صبغة باس وصبغة الاليشيان الزرقاء . المنطقة الشمية تكون مبطنة بظهارة سميكة متعددة الطبقات عمودية كاذبة خالية من الخلايا الكأسية. وتحتوي الطبقة اللبادية تحت المخاطية على غدد عنبية بسيطة (غدد بومان) وعدد كبير من الحزم العصبية. أستنتج من هذه الدراسة أن التجويف الأنفي للماعز العراقي الأسود يعتبر أداة تكيف جيدة في البيئة الحاره المغبرة.

Abstract

In this work numerical investigation of mixed convection by non-concentric different positions of rotating circular cylinder in square enclosure is investigated. The assumption of using six rotating cylinders at constant temperature Th and square closed enclosure with temperature Tc for all walls are maintained. Continuity, Momentum and energy governing equations are solved by using finite volume technique using Ansys-Fluent 16 commercial code with two dimension and steady state case. Richardson number (Ri=Gr/Re2) varying over the wide range of 0.1, 1, 10,100, 1000 and ∞. This research investigate the effect of changing the rotating circular cylinder positions along the vertical centerline on the fluid flow and heat transfer inside the enclosure. Six different positions are tested. The phenomenon inside the square enclosure is mathematically analyzed. A streamlines, isothermal patterns, local Nusselt numbers, and average Nusselt numbers are calculated. The analytical results give that, the Richardson numbers is playing the dominant role on temperature distributions and flow patterns inside the enclosure. The average Nusselt number variation demonstrates the best location of rotating cylinder which gives best heat transfer value. The bottom left corner (P4) is the best location for hot rotating cylinders. While the rotating in middle right (P6) is the inferior position

Abstract

In this study, we intend to evaluate the microorganism that colonizes the oral cavity after using a complete denture the study involved 43 patient attending prosthodontics clinc at dentistry department in Al-Yarmouk university college. pre and post insertion samples were taken for each patient. The results indicated that all patients gave positive mixed bacterial growth with predominant of Staph. aureas and Strep. spp and appearance of candida after one month of denture use.

في هذا البحث حاولنا ان نقييم الاحياء المجهريه التي تتمركز في تجويف الفم بعد استعمال طقم الاسنان الكامل .الدراسه تضمنت 43 مريضا راجع عيادات صناعة الاسنان في قسم طب الاسنان-كلية اليرموك الجامعة. اخذت العينات من فم المرضى قبل وبد استعمال طقم الاسنان. النتيجة ان كل المرضى كانوا يحملون بكتريا مختلطه من النوع الموجب لملون غرام والبكتريا المسيطرة هي من نوع المكورات العنقوديه و المكورات المسبحيه و كذلك ظهور الفطريات بعد شهر من استعمال طقم الاسنان .
