Effect of Some Teeth Cleaning Methods on the Microbiological Content of the Oral Cavity

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe study was conducted in the period from January to May 2018. The study included the identification of the total account and types of microbial content of the oral cavity during the normal daily practices at different times, which were after waking up, after washing mouth with water (rinsing), after breakfast and after using toothpaste for 33 donors of females and males, smokers and non-smokers, and the ages range were 25-35 years. The results of the study showed that all donor groups showed positive growth during the isolation stages, but there were no significant differences in the growth density of the total count, Enterobacteriaceae and staphylococcus for the donor groups, and the recorded account are not considered to be dangerous to the health of mouth. This is because donor's mouth health was good and smoking period was short. The highest account of bacteria in isolates were seen among smokers after waking up was 74-550 cfu / ml. The study also included the diagnosis of isolated microbial species using VITEK2. The results showed that the isolated bacterial species are Staphylococcus aureus, Lelliottia amnigena, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Pseudomonas luteola, Klebsiella pneumonie, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia which were varied in count, Bacterial resistance was tested for some of the antibiotics that were Doxycycline (DO), Mastiscs (TS), Ceftriaxone (CRO), Tobramycine (TOB), Mastiscs (T), Mastdiscs (T), Gentamicin (CN). The results showed that L. amnigena and S.maltophilia were sensitive to all antibiotics. P. fluorescens were sensitive to antibiotics CN, T, TOB, DO and resistance to antibiotics CRO, TS whereas K.pneumonie was sensitive to all Antibiotics used except the DO antibiotic. The S.aureus bacteria showed resistance to antibiotics CN, TOB, CRO, TS and sensitive to antibiotics T, DO.

نفذت الدراسة في الفترة من شهر كانون الثاني ولغاية شهر ايار من عام 2018 تضمنت محاولة التعرف على اعداد وانواع المحتوى الميكروبي لتجويف الفم خلال الممارسات اليومية الطبيعية بأوقات مختلفة والتي كانت بعد الاستيقاظ من النوم وبعد غسل الفم بالماء (المضمضة) وبعد الفطور وبعد استخدام معجون الاسنان لـ 33 متبرع من اناث وذكور مدخنين وغير مدخنين وبأعمار تراوحت بين 25-35 سنة. بينت نتائج الدراسة ان جميع فئات المتبرعين اعطت نموا موجبا خلال مراحل العزل، ولكن لم تكن هناك اختلافات كبيرة في كثافة النمو للعدد الكلي والمعوي والمكورات العنقودية لفئات المتبرعين، كما ان الاعداد التي سجلت لا تعتبر خطرة على صحة الفم وذلك لكون صحة فم المتبرعين جيدة وتاريخ التدخين قصير، وقد كان اعلى تواجد للعدد الكلي للبكتريا في العزلات المأخوذة من المدخنين بعد الاستيقاظ والذي بلغ 74-550 cfu/ml . كما تضمنت الدراسة تشخيص الانواع الميكروبية المعزولة باستخدام جهاز VITEK2 اظهرت النتائج ان الانواع البكتيرية المعزولة هي Staphlococcua aures, Lelliottia amnigena, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Pseudomonas luteola , Klebsiella pneumonie , Stenotrophomonas maltophilia وباعداد مختلفة , تم اختبار مقاومة البكتريا تجاه بعض المضادات الحياتية والتي كانت من نوع Doxycycline(DO), Mastiscs(TS), Ceftriaxone(CRO), Tobramycine(TOB), Mastiscs(T), Mastdiscs(T), Gentamicin(CN) . والتي اظهرت النتائج ان بكتريا L.amnigena و S.maltophilia كانتا حساسة لكل انواع المضادات المستخدمة, اما بكتريا P.fluorescens فقد كانت حساسة للمضادات CN, T, TOB, DO ومقاومة للمضادات CRO, TS , في حين كانت البكتريا من نوع K.pneumonie حساسة لجميع المضادات المستخدمة ما عدا المضاد DO, اما بكتريا S.aures فقد اظهرت النتائج مقاومتها للمضادات نوع CN, TOB, CRO, TS وحساس للمضاد T, DO.

Abstract

Designing of single-mode ZnO nanowire laser has been achieved. Studying its properties has also been considered. Analysis of single-mode rate equations indicates that the laser has threshold current of 53 mA, the output power of 30 mW at bias current of 70 mA and the slope efficiency around 1.77 mW/mA for the output power from both mirrors. The critical diameter for nanowire has been calculated and it is found to be 128 nm. The number of nanowire rods through designed area of dimensions (21µm×21µm) has also been calculated. The cavity of nanowire laser is (F-P). The results are compared with some experimental work of ZnO nanowire lasers and good agreement is found.

Abstract

Background Due to the increase in the microorganism resistance to most of conventional antifungal drug, studies have encouraged to discover novel treatments for infections caused by Candida species. Hence, alternative therapies are crucial and the use of herbal medicines seems being a promising solution for the candidiasis treatment. Materials and Methods the antifungal effect of some medicinal plant extracts (peppermint and pomegranate) was confirmed by some studies. But there was still a lack of knowledge associated with the specificity of these extracts on sensitivity and viability counts of candida albicans, so for this reason this study was conducted. Water extract (peppermint and pomegranate) was prepared, different concentration (5, 10, 15, 20, and 25mg/ml) from them were taken, tested candida albicans was used to evaluate these extracts on its sensitivity, viability counts, and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) (in vitro). Results showed that all concentration of pomegranate showed zone of inhibition, there were highly significant differences between concentrations except between (10, 15) and (20, 25), but peppermint revealed zero zone of inhibition on Sabouraud dextrose agar medium. All concentrations of both extracts were effect in reducing viability counts of candida albicans with highly significant differences with Negative control (Distilled water) P<0.05, but there were no significant difference P >0.05with positive control (Nystatin) and with each other. Conclusions All plant extracts used in this study had antifungal effect and influence on candida albicans. For this reason can be used as disinfectants, mouth wash or soaking solutions and as an alternate to drug in the treatment of denture stomatitis.

Theory of Mitigate Temperature Effect on the Equilibrium Point in Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers

Abstract

This paper presents a way to mitigate the influence of temperature effects on the equilibrium point (Q-point) of vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs) by investigating the effect of laser injection current (Iinj) and dc-bias level (Ibias) numerically using MATHCAD software. Results show that, by changing temperature 50 oC (i.e. from 10 to 60) with Iinj = 3Ith and Ibias = 0, the photons density (P(t)) has decreased from 1.636 × 1016 cm-3 to 0.733 × 1016 cm-3, the carrier density (N(t)) has increased from 2.367 × 1018 cm-3 to 2.669 × 1018 cm-3 and the laser output power (Pout) has decreased from the 2.366 mW to the 1.025 mW. In contrast, by increasing the Iinj from 3Ith to 5Ith and the Ibias from 0 to 1.5Ith, the rate of the decreasing in the P(t) and in the Pout have reduced more than 25%.

تقدم هذه الورقة طريقة للتخفيف من تأثير تأثيرات درجة الحرارة على نقطة التوازن (Q-point) للليزر الانبعاث السطحي ذات التجويف العمودي (VCSEL) من خلال دراسة تأثير تيار الحقن (Iinj) ومستوى التحيز المستمر (Ibias) عدديًا باستخدام برنامج ال MATHCAD. تظهر النتائج أنه بتغيير درجة الحرارة 50 درجة مئوية (أي من 10 إلى 60) مع Iinj = 3Ith و Ibias = 0 ، فإن كثافة الفوتونات ( P (t قد انخفضت من (cm-3 1.636 × 1016 ( إلى (cm-3 0.733 × 1016 ) و قد زادت الكثافة الحاملة ( N (t من cm-3)2.367 × 1018( إلى cm-3)2.669 × 1018 ( وانخفضت قدرة الليزر (Pout) من 2.366 ملي واط إلى mW 1.025. في المقابل، عند زيادة Iinj من 3Ith إلى 5Ith ، و Ibias من 0 إلىIth فإن معدل التناقص في P(t) وفي Pout قد أنخفض ألى أكثر من %25.
