Shear Bond Strength of Acrylic Soft Liner after Incorporation of Silver- Zinc Zeolite

Abstract

Background The main disadvantages the soft liners, is the absence of a durable bond to the denture base, this caused adhesion failure between them, creating an environment for colonization bacterial and compromise the durability of the Soft denture liners. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of silver-zinc zeolite incorporated into heat cure acrylic soft liner on shear bond strength.Materials and methods Thirty specimens of heat cure soft liner were prepared and divided into three groups after incorporation of Ag-Zn as follows; Control Group: which have 10 specimens without Ag-Zn zeolite. Experimental Group: which have ten specimens with 0.5% by weight of Ag-Zn; Experimental Group: which have 10 specimens with 0.75% weight of Ag-Zn zeolite plastic pattern sample which used for acrylic block fabrication were (75 mm length × 25 mm width × 5 mm depth. The handle of acrylic block thickness is 13mm. Shear bond strength of all specimens was evaluated.Results The LSD test showed The experimental groups of 0.75% and 0.5%significant difference compared with the control group (p<0.05). While the comparison between experimental groups (0.75 % and 0.5 %) had recorded non-significant difference at p >0.05. Conclusions incorporation from (0.5% and 0.75%) of Ag-Zn Zeolite into heat soft liner had a significant effect on shear bond strength.

Abstract

Abstract Objective: This study was oriented to evaluate the effect of different laser surface treatment designs on improving the shear bond strength of the flexible resin to cobalt chromium denture base. Materials and methods: 30 specimens of flexible resin bonded into cobalt chromium denture base material were prepared for this study. They were divided according to the type of surface treatment as follow: Group I without any treatment (control group), Group II was treated with laser in line design. While Group III was treated with laser in a mesh design. The shear bond strength was measured using the Instron testing machine. Results: The results revealed that the highest mean values for the specimens treated with laser in mesh design while lowest mean values for the specimens of laser treated with line design and control group. Data analysis was done using one-way ANOVA and LSD-test at a significant level (p-value ˂0.05). Conclusion: within the limitation of this study, mesh laser surface treatment of CobaltChromium was improved the bond strength.

الهدف: تم توجيه هذه الدراسة لتقييم تأثير تصاميم مختلفه من المعاملة بالليزرعلى تحسين قوه الربط القصي من الراتنج المرن لقاعده طقم الاسنان الكروم كوبالتالمواد والطرق: تم تحضير 30عينه من الراتنج المرن المرتبط بقاعدة طقم الاسنان الكروم كوبالت في هذه الدراسة. تم تقسيمها حسب نوع المعاملة السطحية على النحو التالي: المجموعة الأولى دون أي معامله (المجموعة الضابطة)، المجموعة الثانية عوملت بالليزر بشكل خطوط. بينما المجموعة الثالثة عوملت بالليزر بشكل شبكه. تم قيا س قوه القص باستخدام ماكنه الاختبار Instron.النتائج: كشفت النتيجة ان اعلى معدلات القيم للعينات المعاملة بالليزر بشكل شبكه بينما أدنى القيم كانت للعينات المعاملة بالليزر بشكل خطوط والعينات الضابطة. تم تحليل البيانات باستخدام اختبار one –way ANOVA واختبار LSDبمستوى معنويه 0.005)> (P-valueالاستنتاج: في حدود هذه الدراسة معامله الكروم كوبالت بالليزر بشكل شبكه يحسن من قوة الربط.
