Abstract

AbstractLigands were prepared by reacting Methacrylic acid with each of Ethylene chlorohydrine, Chloro acetic acid, 2-hydroxy benzal Chloride , 2- chloro-6- hydroxy aniline, 2- chloro-6- hydroxy pyridine. The ligands were formed and then interacted with Ca(II); The Complexes resulted from ligand : metal (2:1) interaction that have the general formula [Ca(H¬2 C=C(CH3)CO2R)2]. Ten complexes were done by preparing a mixture of ligand compounds prepared above and Glutaraldehyde. The mixture was reacted with Calcium ion taken from healthy teeth solved in concentrated Nitric acid. Then it was tried to use these complexes as to be bonding materials that connect the composite with the enamel.The complexes were studied by Conductivity, Infrared spectra, biocompatibility, and antibacterial measurements. The conductivity measurements of the prepared complexes indicated that all the complexes prepared in Methylcyanid solvent at (10-3 M concentration) at 25oC are non-electrolyte. The infrared spectra showed displacement of stretching vibration ν (C=O) presented in all the complexes. Also, a band belonged to metal –oxygen bonding stretching was indicate that the bonding occurred via oxygen.As for the study of biocompatibility and antibacterial, it was clear that the prepared complexes had a prohibiting effect on bacteria and fungi, but no negative effect on oral (mouth) tissues.

الخلاصة حضرت الليكاندات من التفاعل بين حامض الميثاكريلك والمركبات اثلين كلوروهيدرين، 2 كلورو حامض الخليك، 2-هيدروكسي بنزيل كلزرايد،2 كلورو-6-هيدروكسي انيلين، 2-كلورو-6-هيدروكسي بيريدين. تم مفاعلة اليكاندات المحضرة مع ايون الكالسيوم الثنائي التكافؤ ونتجت معقدات بنسبة 1:2 بصيغة عامة .[Ca(H¬2C=C(CH3)CO2R)2] تم تحضير عشرة معقدات اضافية بمفاعلة اللكياندات المحضرة مع مركب الكلوتالديهايد ثم مفاعلة المركب الناتج مع ايون الكالسيوم المستخلص من اسنان سليمه والمذابه في حامض النتريك المركز. جرت محاولة استخدام المعقدات الناتجة كمركبات رابطة بين ماد الكومبوزت وميناء السن. تم قياس التوصيلية المولارية ، الاشعة تحت الحمراء،الفعالية البايولوجية،والتاثير البكتيري للمعقدات المحضرة. دلت قياسات التوصيلية المولارية ان المعقدات المحضرة غير موصلة في مذيب سيانيد المثيل. اظهرت قياسات الاشعة تحت الحمراء وجود ازاحة في الاهتزاز الامتطاطي لمجموعة الكاربونيل (C=O) لجميع المعقدات. بينت قياس الفعالية البايولوجية والبكتيرية للمعقدات المحضرة ان لها تاثير مثبط للبكتيريا والفطريات وليس لها اي تاثير سلبي على انسجة الفم.

Abstract

Aim: This study aims to measure the amount of fluoride release in deionized water from two composite resins materials (Kerr and Tetric ceram)over period of one month. By using different curing time forcuring the composite.Materials and Methods : Two types of composite resin materials were used. They are Tetric ceram and Kerr composite resins divided into five groups for each type of materialsused, each group contain ten sample materials and cured with different time of curing which are(20,30,40,50,60) seconds.The samples measured fluoride release after storing in 5ml of deionized waterthen incubated incubator at 37°C for 24 hours.Results: The amount of fluoride release was affected by the period of curing time. The materials which cured at (20,30,40) seconds gave high amount of fluoriderelease while the materials which cured at (50,60)seconds gave low amount of fluoride release. Conclusions: The amount of fluoride release from composite resins materials were affected by curing time. There is an increase in the amount of fluoride release by decreasing the period of curing time and decreasing by increasing the period of curing time.

Abstract

The present study was designed to synthesis potassium dicitro bismuthate (III) complex. The complex was characterized by infrared spectra, conductivity and elemental analysis of Bi. The effect of gastro protection was investigated for the prepared complex against HCl- ethanol induced ulcer in rats. The complex was administered to rats at 50 and 100 mgkg doses orally before one hour of receiving 0.2ml of HCl- ethanol mixture to induce gastric ulcer. Sucralfate (100mg kg, orally) was used as standard drug. The severity of gastro mucosal damage induced by HCl-ethanol was analyzed in term of ulcer index value. Administration of potassium dicitro bismuthate (III) one hour before HCl-ethanol had significantly decreased ulcer index value when compared to saline treated group. Sucralfate (100mgkg, orally) also produced a significant decrease in ulcer index when compared with the saline treated group. There was no significant difference between potassium dicitro bismuthate (III) and Sucralfate in degree of protection against ulcer. Thus it can be concluded that potassium dicitro bismuthate (III) has antiulcer activity in rats.

يتضمن البحث تشخيص المعقد بوتاسيوم ثنائي ستروبزموثيت المحضر بواسطة طيف الأشعة تحت الحمراء والتوصيلية المولارية والتحليل العنصري وتم في هذه الدراسة تقييم الفعل الوقائي لبوتاسيوم ثنائي ستروبزموثيت تجاه قرحة المعدة المحدثة بمزيج الايثانول – حامض الهايدروكلوريد في الفئران. وقد أظهرت النتائج ان اعطاء البوتاسيوم ثنائي ستروبزموثيت بجرعة (50 , 100ملغم / كغم, بالفم) قبل ساعة من اعطاء مزيج الايثانول – حامض الهايدروكلوريك أدى إلى إحداث انخفاض معنوي في ulcer index مقارنة بمجموعة السيطرة المعاملة بمحلول الملح الفسليولوجي . كما وأدى إعطاء دواء الـSucralfate بجرعة (100 ملغم / كغم, بالفم ) في المجموعة المعاملة بمزيج الايثانول – حامض الهايدروكلوريد إلى إحداث انخفاض معنوي في ulcer index مقارنة بمجموعة السيطرة. فمن هذه الدراسة نستنتج ان لبوتاسيوم ثنائي ستروبزموثيت تأثيرا وقائيا ضد القرحة المحدثة بمزيج الايثانول – حامض الهايدروكلوريك في الجرذان لذا فمن الممكن استخدامه للمنع الإصابة بالقرحة

Abstract

Tin, selenium and bismuth metal complexes containing Schiff bases ligands derived from ortho-benzaldehyde, dimethyl ketone, diethyl ketone and di(o-aminophenyl) disulphide have been prepared from the direct reaction of Schiff base and metals in 1:2 molar ratio to give:Sn(SC6H4N=CHC6H4OCH3-o)4, Sn(SC6H4N=C(CH3)2)4, Sn(SC6H4N=C(CH2CH3)2)4, Bi(SC6H4N=CHC6H4OCH3-o)3, Bi(SC6H4N=C(CH3)2)3, SC6H4N=C(CH2CH3)2)3, Se(SC6H4N=CHC6H4O CH3-o)4, Se(SC6H4N=C(CH3) 2)4 and Se(SC6H4N=C(CH2CH3)2)4. The reaction of the above metals with a mixture of iodine and Schiff bases give in (1:1:3) molar ratio the compounds SnI(SC6H4N=CHC6H4OCH3-o)3, SnI(SC6H4N=C(CH3)2)3, SnI(SC6H4N=C(CH2CH3)2)3, BiI(SC6H4N=CH-C6H4OCH3-o)2, BiI(SC6H4N=C(CH3)2)2, BiI(SC6H4N=C(CH2CH3)2)2, SeI(SC6H4N=CHC6H4 OCH3-o)3, SeI(SC6H4N=C(CH3)2)3 and SeI(SC6H4N=C(CH2CH3 )2)3. The compounds were characterized by microanalysis, infrared, UV/Visible spectroscopy and conductivity measurement.

تم تحضير معقدات عناصر القصدير، السلينيوم والبزموث مع قواعد شيف المشتقة من تفاعل اورثو بنزالديهايد، داي ميثايل كيتون، داي ايثايل كيتون وثنائي الكبريت ثنائي(اورثوامينوفينول) حضرت المعقدات من التفاعل المباشر بين قواعد شيف مع العناصر اعلاه وبنسبة مولية 1:2 عن طريق التصعيد المباشر باستخدام مذيب التلوين وان المعقدات المحضرة تمتلك الصيغ التالية:Sn(SC6H4N=CHC6H4OCH3-o)4, Sn(SC6H4N=C(CH3)2)4, Sn(SC6H4N=C(CH2CH3)2)4, Bi(SC6H4N=CHC6H4OCH3-o)3, Bi(SC6H4N=C(CH3)2)3, Se(SC6H4N=C(CH2CH3)2)4, Se(SC6H4N=CHC6H4OCH3-o)4, Se(SC6H4N=C(CH3) 2)4 and Se(SC6H4N=C(CH2CH3)2)4. كذلك تم تحضيرمعقدات اخرى بوجود عنصر اليود وبنسبة مولية (3:1:1) (فلز:يود:ليكاند)، حيث تمتلك الصيغ التالية:SnI(SC6H4N=CHC6H4OCH3-o)3,SnI(SC6H4N=C(CH3)2)3,SnI(S C6H4N=C(CH2CH3)2)3, BiI(SC6 H4N=CH-C6H4OCH3-o)2, BiI(SC6H4N=C( CH3)2)2, BiI(SC6H4N=C(CH2CH3)2)2, SeI(SC6H4N=CHC6H4OCH3-o)3, SeI (SC6H4N=C(CH3)2)3 and SeI(SC6H4N=C(CH2CH3)2)3. شخصت المعقدات المحضرة باستخدام التحليل العنصري الدقيق للعناصر، طيف الاشعة تحت الحمراء، طيف الاشعة فوق البنفسجية والمرئية والتوصيل الكهربائي.

Abstract

Aims: To evaluate the artificial saliva sorption for three different types of light activated composite resin. Materials and Method: A total of thirty six specimens (bars) (3x8x15)mm were prepared from three different types of light activated composite resin. (Tetric N-ceram, Iv o clar-vivadent-Liechtenstein. Arabesk – voco – Germany. Soltaire–2, Heraeus, kulzer, Germany). Twelve specimens were prepared from each type of composite resin. Complete fabrication of composite resin specimens, polished and kept in three different types of artificial saliva medium, three specimens from each type of composite resin as interactive specimens kept in type of artificial saliva and the last three specimens kept in Deionized water as control medium. The weight of each specimens was measured at an analytic balance before and after different time intervals of storage (1,2,7,21,35,60) days to measure the amount of absorption of artificial Saliva (gaining and loss of weight). The study showed a significant difference (P< 0.05) in artificial saliva sorption among the three different types of composite resin at different time intervals when kept in different artificial saliva medium. Tetric N-ceram (nano composite) has more affect with three different types of artificial saliva medium (gaining and loss weight) followed by Arabesk, Soltaire-2 composite resin for different types of artificial saliva at different time intervals. Conclusion: Dental composites are sensitive to artificial salive medium (gain and loss of weight) Tetric N ceram (nano – composite) interact actively followed by Arabesk and Soltaire-2 for three different artificial saliva medium at different time intervals

Abstract

Aims: To evaluating the preferable properties and concentrations of Genuine Nigella sativa and Thyme as oil low cost additive biocompatible antibiotic materials of denture base acrylic powder inre-lation to the commercially available heat cure acrylic resin material. Materials and Methods: One hundred and sixty acrylic resin Major heat cured samples were prepared without additives (Control), and with additives (A pure natural oil of Nigella sativa and Thyme 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2%) to eva-luate transverse strength, indentation hardness, color property, residual monomer, dimensional accura-cy, porosity, measurement of IR spectra, and anti–microbial–sensitivity tests. Results: Results showed a significant difference to P= 0.05. The addition of Thyme and Nigella oil increased the transverse strength, and hardness of the denture base materials, no porosities, an increase in residual monomer elution at 1st day, and both additives Nigella and Thyme oil act as antibacterial materials. Conclusions: The additives materials of pure natural oil of Nigella sativa and Thyme with concentration of 1.5% were recommended to give a proper properties, and as antimicrobial after curing of the acrylic resin denture base, but Thyme oil showed no effect on the color after curing in relation to Nigella sativa

Abstract

Aims: To evaluate the degree of change that may occur in reconditioning the titanium bracket via micro-
etcher. Materials and Methods: The sample consisted of (10) pure titanium brackets for each of
control and reconditioning brackets. The parameters of the reconditioned bracket (slot width, slot
depth, inter–wing gap, labio–lingual angle and base curvature angle) were measured and compared
with that of the control bracket. Results: The results showed no significant difference between the control
and reconditioned brackets of the slot parameters (width, depth, inter–win gap, labio–lingual angle)
and the bracket’s base curvature angle. While, the tensile bond strength of the control brackets
showed significantly higher mean value as compared with the recycled group. Conclusions: The reconditioning
of pure titanium brackets is recommended for reuse in the orthodontic treatment after sterilization.

Abstract

Aims: To evaluate pH, viscosity and retentive ability of modified adhesive materials and compared it with commercially available adhesive materials. Materials and Methods: The pH–value of 0.25% denture adhesive materials were determined using pH meter. The viscosity was determined by Ostwald viscometer (Aldrich Company). The retentive ability was measured by specially manufactured reten-tion testing machine using an acrylic resin disc samples which have 6cm diameter and 3mm thickness prepared from a special mold. Results: The findings of the present study showed that the "Bonyplus" gave the highest pH values of all materials tested. Also, showed that the "CMC” gave the highest vis-cosity values, while "Bonyplus" gave the lowest one. The "CMC" gave the highest retention while the "Distilled water" gave the lowest one. Conclusions: All denture adhesive materials tested have a pH equal to that of neutral. The viscosity test showed that the newly prepared materials have a higher vis-cosity than commercial denture adhesive materials. The retention test showed that the newly prepared materials have a higher efficiency than commercial denture adhesive materials.

Abstract

Aims: To evaluate the effects of the micro–etching procedure on the bracket’s slot and base parameters and on the tensile bond strength of the recycled brackets. Materials and Methods: The sample was 20 stainless brackets grouped into; control brackets group(10) and de–bonded brackets group(10). The de–bonded brackets reconditioned with micro–etcher. the data subjected to the statistical analysis at ≤ 0.05 significant level. Results: demonstrated that the use of micro–etcher for recycling the de–bonded brackets do not affect the bracket’s slot and base parameters whereas affected the bond strength of the recycledbrackets. Conclusion: The micro–etcher (sand basting) is recommended for recycling the de–bonded stainless steal brackets and reuse them in orthodontic treatments

Abstract

that has almost the same properties of dental modeling wax used in dentistry. Materials and Methods:Three groups of waxes (220 samples) with different compositions regarding its origin (Al–Dorarefinery waxes, natural bees wax–North of Iraq, and commercially available Iraqi waxes), additivessuch as starch, sodium–carboxyl methylcellulose (Na–CMC), rosin, or nylon, and coloring agents wereprepared. The samples were tested for their melting range, 21 samples only had a melting range thatnearly coincides with that of the dental waxes such as Major and Cavex. Results: The resultant 21samples were tested for their softening, trimming, penetration, residue materials and solubility. Only 4samples showed properties that are closely similar to that of Major and Cavex wax. The results ofmelting point ranged from 69–80oC. Softening test showed that the samples which contain nylon, Na–CMC, or rosin were softened without adhering to the fingers. Trimming test showed that they weretrimmed easily and clearly. Penetration test showed that, some samples had the similar measurementsof Major and Cavex wax (0.6–0.9mm). Residue materials showed that all samples had no residue ofwax materials on acrylic teeth after wax elimination procedure. All the prepared waxes were soluble in ether (acetone), and petroleum spirit (benzene). Conclusion: Six new modeling wax materials were prepared according to ADA specification No.24. Three of new wax materials consist of nylon(polystyrene 1.71–2.13%); the other two novel modeling waxes were fabricated by using additive materials (Na–CMC and rosin).
