Abstract

This study is one application of Advanced Oxidation Process (AOPs) that is using Naked Niobium Oxide (Nb2O5) as a photocatalyst to degrade the industrial Malachite Green dye. Malachite Green is used in many industries such as leather, silk, paper, plastic and others. This research involved Study different factors of photodegradation [weight of catalyst (0.03 – 0.3) g, initial concentration of dye (5 – 15) ppm, temperature (5 – 25) ℃, light intensity (2.3 – 3.5) mW / cm2, pH (2 – 8), adding of hydrogen peroxide (0.5 – 2) mL and type of gas (air, N2)].

تعتبر هذه الدراسة أحد تطبيقات عمليات الأكسدة المتقدمة (AOPs) باستخدام العامل المساعد المجرد أوكسيد النيوبيوم (Nb2O5) كعامل مساعد ضوئي لتكسير صبغة المالاخايت الأخضر.تستخدم صبغة المالاخايت الأخضر في عدة صناعات منها صناعة الجلود، الحرير، الورق، البلاستيك بالإضافة الى صناعات أخرى. تضمن البحث دراسة تأثير الظروف المختلفة على عملية التكسير الضوئي [تأثير وزن العامل الساعد (0.03 – 0.3) غم، التركيز الابتدائي للصبغة (5 – 15) جزء بالمليون، درجة الحرارة (5 – 25) درجة سيليزية، شدة الضوء المستخدم (2.3 – 3.5) ملي واط/سم2، الدالة الحامضية (2–8)، إضافة بيروكسيد الهيدروجين (0.5 – 2.0) مليلتر ونوع الغاز المستخدم (هواء، غاز النتروجين)].

Abstract

background: Jaundice is a common neonatal problem. This may be due to the limited ability of a neonate to metabolize indirect bilirubin, which predisposes to the risk of encephalopathy and long-term sequelae if not managed promptly. Sufficient hydration and good urine output improve the efficacy of intensive phototherapyThe aim of this study: was to evaluate the role of intravenous extra fluid supplementation in accelerating the reduction of serum bilirubin levels in neonates and to find out whether intravenous fluid supplementation decrease the total duration of phototherapy and the need for exchange transfusionMethods: This is a prospective clinical trial study that was conducted at phototherapy ward at Karbala teaching hospital for children, Iraq from January 2017 to December 2017. Fifty-two term neonates with non-hemolytic hyperbilirubinemia [total serum bilirubin ≥18 mg/dl (308 μmol /L) and <25 mg/dl (428 μmol /L)] were randomly divided into 2 equal groups; (non-supplemented group) received breast milk and or formula, and (supplemented group) given intravenous fluid besides breast milk or formula. Both groups exposed to intensive phototherapy. The rate of bilirubin decrement, duration of phototherapy, and rate of exchange transfusion were comparedResults: Rate of bilirubin decrement at 4 hours, 8 hours, 24 hours of study were significantly higher in supplemented group as compared to non-supplemented group (p- value ≤0.001). Duration of phototherapy required in non-supplemented and supplemented groups was 56.54 vs. 41.54 hours respectively (p-value =0.0001). No statistically significant effect of intravenous extra fluid supplementation on exchange transfusion rate between these two groups.Conclusions: Intravenous extra fluid supplementation in non-hemolytic jaundiced term neonates can accelerate decrement of serum bilirubin levels and decreases the duration of phototherapy

Abstract

The maxillary and mandibular bones can reflect the status of all of the skeletal bones , any bone lose in the mandible is not due to local factors only such as previous extraction of teeth can be considered as the first sign of osteoporosis in the other skeletal bones and future bone fracture. To obtain statistical data on the alveolar bone height at different regions of the body of the mandible by panoramic radiograph in different age groups of Iraqi males and females. The study include the diagnostic panoramic radiograph of 40 images of randomly selected patients from males and females without sign and symptoms for any systemic diseases affecting the bone. There was a significant high difference between males and females in midline and mental foramen areas.Dentist should pay greater attention to older females patients because they are prone to rapid alveolar bone resorption.

Abstract

This work amid to determine of Ni(II) and Co(II) by using 2-[(2-Carboxy-4-nitrophenyl) azo]-4,5-diphenyl imidazole (CNPAI), maximum absorption of two complexes are 566nm and 592nm for Ni-CNPAI and Cd-CNPIA respectively while the maximum absorption of the ligand was 425nm.Optimum condition were constructed, calibration curve was obeyed in the range (0.05-1.3) ppm for Ni and (0.1-8) ppm for Co ions, the linearity ( R2 ) was (0.9991), (0.9995), molar absorpitivty (ε) was 1.7448 x 104 L.mol-1.cm-1, 9.908 x 104 L.mol-1.cm-1 for Ni(II) and Co(III) complex.The stoichometry of metals to reagent were 1:2 for two complexes, Precision and accuracy of the analytical procedure for Ni(II) and Co(II) were R.S.D % (2.11 , 0.82)%, (Erel., Re) % were (-3.1, 96.9) % and (-2.7, 97.3) %.

يهدف البحث الى تقدير النيكل والكوبلت الثنائيين بواسطة الكاشف (CNPAI) , وقد وجد ان الامتصاص الاعظم للمعقدين كان عند الطول الموجي 566 نانوميتر للنيكل و 592 نانوميتر للكوبلت. تم بناء منحني المعايره لكلا الايونين عند مدى من التراكيز (0.05-1.5) جزء بالمليون للنيكل و (0.1-8) جزء بالمليون بالنسبة للكوبلت اظهر كلا المنحنيين خطية (R2) قدرها (0.9991 ) و (0.9995 ) و قيمة معامل امتصاص مولاري هي 1.7448 x 410 و 9.908 x 410 للنيكل والكوبلت على التوالي.تم تحديد نسبة الفلز الى الكاشف حيث وجد انها تساوي 2:1 لكلا المقدين كما تم تحديد دقة وضبط الطريقة التحليلية حيث وجد ان قيمة الانحراف القياسي R.S.D% , (2.11 و 0.82)% ,اما قيم الخطأ النسبي( Erel. ) و الاستعادية ( Re ) فكانت (-3.1، 96.9) % و (-2.7، 97.3) % .
