Abstract

This study presents the impacts of suitable refrigerant charge to test the performance of laboratory refrigerator rig for using three refrigerants of (R134a, R600a and R290) instead of R12 .The coefficient of performance and maximum consumption amperes are taken as function to evaluate the optimum charge of these refrigerants. The results imply that the over refrigerant charge will reduce the system performance. Compared the optimum refrigerant charge of R600a is (45g), R290 is (70 g) and R134a is (60g), instead of R12. The results show that the refrigerator with R134a gives lowest capacity reduction with same performance to R12 from other alternative refrigerant, and can be taken as the best alternative refrigerant.

Abstract

Capillary tubes are widely used in refrigerating and air conditioning units. It has no moving part however, a capillary tube is less expensive and generally performs nearly as well. In this work, the effect of capillary tube numbers on air conditioning system performance is studied for refrigerant R22. The study was adopted with the five capillary tubes at same diameter of 2.2 mm and length of 0.6 m. The experimental work shows that, the air conditioning operates with three capillary tubes gives highest COP from other of the same diameter with 14% increasing from base case of two capillary tubes, where the performance of the air conditioning that operates with one capillary tube gives the lowest COP from other.

تستخدم ألأنابيب الشعرية على نطاق واسع في وحدات التبريد وتكييف الهواء. تمتاز بعدم وجود اي جزء متحرك ويعتبر ألأنبوب الشعري أقل تكلفة .في هذا العمل، تم دراسة تأثير عدد ألأنابيب الشعرية على أداء منظومة تكييف هواء جدارية تعمل بالمائع R22. واعتمدت في هذه الدراسة خمسة أنابيب شعرية ذات قطر 2.2 ملم وطول 0.6 متر. اظهر الجانب العملي أن مكييف الهواء الذي يعمل مع ثلاثة أنابيب شعرية يعطي أعلى معامل اداء من غيرها لنفس القطر مع زيادة 14٪ عن حالة الاساسية (انبوبين شعريين )، كذلك مكييف الهواء الذي يعمل مع أنبوب شعري واحد يعطي أدنى معامل اداء.

Abstract

The performance of photovoltaic cell is affected by the value of its tilt angle with respect to horizontal plane, where the variation of tilt angle changes the amount of solar radiation permit to the photovoltaic cell surface. So that, the using of solar tracking system for photovoltaic cell will get the maximum solar radiation that permit to the surface of the cell at any time and day of the year, but the solar tracking systems have high operation and maintenance costs and are not always applicable. It is often convenient to set the solar collector at an optimum fixed tilt angle over a time of the year with less reduction in solar radiation received in the cell surface.This work is to find an optimum tilt angle of photovoltaic cell located in southern Iraqi cities Basrah city (latitude 30.30 ), Amarah city (31.55 ) and Nasiriyah (31 ). A mathematical models was used and programed by engineering equation solver EES to find an optimum tilt angle depending on the maximum solar radiation, the tilted angle varied with range from 0 to 90 . The results showed that the optimum tilt angle for Basrah is 28 , where for Amarah is 30 and for Nasiriyah is 29
