Abstract

This paper has presented an experimental study of quasi-static compressive and tensile loading of cutout hole specimens of Kevlar-29/epoxy-Al2O3 laminated composite. The experimental procedure hasbeen developed to study the performance of (50%, 55% and 60%) volume fraction (vf) and (0o/90o and +45o/-45o) fiber orientation angle effects of these composites under quasi-static tensile and compressiveload using a servo-hydraulic testing machine. The study was concluded that the ultimate load capacity increases as volume fraction increases in tensile test. While, the maximum load bearing capacity increaseswith the decrease of volume fraction in compression test. Hence, from the results obtained it can have considered the 55% volume fraction of composite panels is a good value for tensile and compressionapplications.

Abstract

An experimental study of Kevlar-29/epoxy composite thin wall cylinders under internal pressure loadinghas been investigated in this work. Kevlar/epoxy composite specimens were fabricated and tested. Specimens were tested using the hydraulic pump and subjected to a static internal pressure.The results obtained from this work to find the pressure increase ratio and the failure load were found and a comparison has been achieved.According to the comparison results the tough material was specified. The efficient and effective composite cylinders have been tested experimentally. And this provided a considerable advantage over using a woven roving fiber in pressure vessels applications.

الدراسة العملية لمركب الكفلر/ايبوكسي للاسطوانات ذات الجدران الرقيقة تحت تاثير احمال الضغط الداخلي قد تم اختبارها عمليا في هذه الدراسة. بالنسبة للعينات التي تم تصنيعها و اختبارها لمركب الكفلر/ايبوكسي فقد تم اختبارها بأستخدام مضخة هايدروليكية حيث تم تسليط حمل ذو ضغط ثابت على تلك العينات.بالنسبة للنتائج التي تم الحصول عليها والتي قدمت في هذا العمل كانت مفيدة للمقارنة بين نسب مكونات الخلطة لمعرفة الاقوى منهاكما استخدمت هذه النتائج لايجاد قيمة حمل الفشل.ان كفاءة وفاعلية الاسطوانات المركبة قد انجزت عمليا وقد اعطت تقدم مرضي عند استخدام الالياف في التطبيقات التي تتعرض لاحمال الضغط
