Abstract

In this paper, bulk properties of high-temperature superconducting (HTSC) YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO) material have been studied at a dominant orthorhombic phase, which represents more than 90% of the structure. These properties included x-ray diffraction pattern, unit cell parameters, hardness, porosity, density, transition temperature, breakdown voltage, and finally possibility of drilling holes in the disc pellet of HTSC ceramic material.

Abstract

In this work, the effect of self-absorption by molecules of the active medium on the output laser power of a low-pressure CW CO2 laser was studied. The effects of discharge current, output coupling and total gas pressure on the output laser power were discussed. It was explained that the self-absorption depends on CO2 concentration, output coupling and discharge current and there is a threshold value for both output coupling and discharge current at which the absorption is clearly effective.

Abstract

A design, construction and operation of a stable frequency linetuned, plane-polarized CW CO2 laser are described. The maximum output power of 30W for 10P(20) V-R transitions was obtained. The line tuning of laser wavelength was achieved by using 100line/mm grating. This laser was stabilized by holding the laser cavity fixed using a low thermal expansion quartz rod.

Abstract

In this work, a CO2 laser system of five discharge stages was designed, constructed and operated with longitudinal electrical discharge and axial gas flow. The system was characterized throughout measuring output laser power as function of output coupler reflectivity, length of discharge tube and cooling water temperature. The maximum output power delivered was 135W at the TEM10 mode.
