Corrosion Inhibition of Zinc Metal in Hydrochloric acid Solution by Using Ciprofloxacin Drug as an Inhibitor

Abstract

The corrosion of zinc in 4 M HCl by has been investigated at room temperature, and at different temperatures using weight loss measurements, and inhibited by using ciprofloxacin drug. Results obtained showed that ciprofloxacin is a convenient inhibitor and its inhibition efficiency (IE %) increased with the increase of inhibitor concentration. The best temperature which showed the lowest corrosion rate values was at 318K.The mechanism of adsorption had been explained on the basis of chemical structure of the investigated inhibitor. It was found that the protection of zinc metal using this corrosion inhibitor is not complicated at room temperature, and the optimum concentration of inhibitor has been calculated which had showed the maximum surface coverage.

لقد تم دراسة تآكل معدن الخارصين في محلول 4 مولاري حامض الهيدروكلوريك وفي درجات حرارية مختلفة باستخدام طريقة النقص في الوزن، وقد تم تثبيط تآكل الخارصين باستخدام دواء السبروفلوكساسين، وقد بينت الدراسة ان دواء السبروفلوكساسين كان مثبطاُ جيداً، وان نسبة كفاءة التثبيط قد ازدادت بازدياد تركيز المثبط. لقد كانت درجة الحرارة المثلى والتي كانت فيها اقل قيمة لمعدل التآكل هي 318 كلفن. تم دراسة ميكانيكية الامتزاز على اساس التركيب الكيميائي للمثبط، ولقد كانت حماية معدن الخارصين وامتزازه على سطح المعدن عملية غير معقدة ولقد كان تركيز الدواء الامثل هو 300 جزء من المليون والذي اظهر اكبر تغطية لسطح المعدن.

Abstract

The photostabilization of poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC) films by Sulphamethoxazole Schiff's bases compounds was investigated. The PVC films containing concentration of compounds 0.5% by weight were produced by casting method from tetrahydrofuran (THF) solvent. The photostabilization activities of these compounds were determined by calculating the photodegradation rate constant for photostabilizer (kd). The stabilizing efficiency of sulphamethoxazole–Schiff’s base derivatives is attributed to the replacement of the labile chlorine atoms on the PVC chains by a relatively more stable moiety of the organic stabilizer.

في هذا البحث تم دراسة التثبيـت الضوئي لرقائق متعـدد كلوريد الفينيـل بإستخدام قواعد شيف مشتقة من المركب sulphamethoxazole. تـم انتـاج الرقائـق البلاستيكية التي تحتوي على 0.5% وزنآ من قواعـد شيف بطريقة الصـب مـن مذيـب Tetrahydrofuran. وتم تحديد فعالية هذه المركبات في التثبيت الضوئي عن طريق حساب ثابت سرعة التحلل الضوئي للمثبت الضوئي (kd). وتعزى كفاءة هذه المركبات في التثبيت الضوئي لرقائق PVC الى استبدال ذرة Cl في سلاسل PVC بنهايات اكثر استقرارا من المثبت الضوئي.

Abstract

For a friendly environment, adsorbents are prepared from harmful natural sources to reduce their impact on the environment. The preparation of activated carbon from the Eichhornia crassipes was done by carbonization at 450C°, followed by activation step at 800C°. The adsorption processes were carried out by the batch system to determine the optimal conditions for the removal of phenol from the aqueous solutions. Different parameters were used in batch experiments such as initial concentrations of phenol (in the range from 10-100 ppm), pH (from 2-12), temperature (from 298-328k), AC dosage (from 0.09-0.4g). All the adsorption experiments were carried out in thermostat shaker at 150 rpm. The removal percentage of phenol on activated carbon was 98.2% at optimum conditions of 10 ppm initial phenol concentration, 25 minutes, pH=7, 308 k, 0.2 g of AC dosage). The thermodynamic functions of phenol adsorption were studied at different temperatures. The values of Gibbs free energy (∆G) at maximum removal with temperatures (298, 308, 318 and 328K) was (-5.17, -6.83, -8.22, -8.48) respectively and enthalpy ∆H, entropy ∆S values was 29.22 and 0.114. The activated carbon extracted from Eichhornia crassipes has a double benefit. first, to remove various organic pollutants such as phenols in aqueous solutions and the second, to create a clean water environment free of this plant found in Iraqi waters.

Abstract

The present study focused on modification of the optical properties of PVC films Phenyle Phrine HCl Acid complexes. Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) react with Phenyle Phrine HCl Acid (L) in THF to form the PVC‐L compound. PVC‐L has further been reacted with different metal's ions to form PVC‐L‐MII complexes. The structure of these complexes has been characterized by FT‐IR and UV‐Vis spectrophotometry. The optical data analyzed and interpreted in terms of the theory of phonon assisted direct electronic transitions. According to energy gap data, the conductivity of PVC and the complexes were obtained. From the microscopic image analysis, the relations between morphology and optical properties were explained.

تم تحضير وتشخيص معقدات جديدة من تفاعل متعدد كلوريد الفانيل- فنيل فرين كلوريد الهايدروجين مع فلزات مختلفه. تم فحص التغيير في فجوة الطاقه لشرائح مركبPVC النقي والمشوب للمنطقة بين 200-900 نانوميتر في درجة حرارة الغرفة من خلال القياسات المستحصلة بطريقة الانتقالات الغير مباشرة للفونون. تم اعتماد النتائج المستحصلة ووجد ان هذه الخواص تتغير اعتمادا على طبيعة العنصر.

Abstract

The photochemistry of chelate complex 2-(6-methoxynaphthalen-2-yl) propanoic acid cobalt (II) Co(L)2 was studied in three polar aprotic solvents: Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), Dimethylformamide (DMF) and chloroform (CHCl3). Monochromatic light of wavelength 311 nm was used for the irradiation process at 25oC. Uv-visible spectral changes indicated an intra oxidation-reduction reaction occuring during the photolysis of Co(L)2 complex, with homolytic scission of Co-L bond. The quantum yield (d), rate of photodecomposition and reactivity ratio (k2/k-1) was determined in each solvent. These values always increase as the polarity of the solvent increases and follow the order: DMSO > DMF > CHCl3 The mechanism of photodecomposition of this complex under the applied conditions was proposed.

تم دراسة الكيمياء الضوئية لمعقد الكوبلت الثنائي مع الليكاند ثنائي السن:methoxynaphthalen-2-yl)propanoic acid- 2-(6 في ثلاث مذيبات قطبية لا بروتونية هي: ثنائي مثيل سلفواوكسايد وثنائي مثيل فورم امايد والكلوروفورم. وتم استخدام ضوء أحادي وبطول موجي قدره 311 نانوميتر وبدرجة حرارة 25هم. لقد دلت التغيرات الطيفية الحاصلة على حصول تفاعل أكسدة-اختزال داخلي خلال عملية 2 مع انفصام متجانس للآصرة .Co-Lلقد تم حساب الناتج الكمي (Qd وسرعة التفكك الضوئي ونسبة الفعالية K2/K-1 في كل مذيب من المذيبات أعلاه ووجد ان هذه القيم تزداد بزيادة قطبية المذيب ووفق الترتيب الآتي: DMSO > DMF > CH3Clووفقا للنتائج العملية المستحصلة، تم أقتراح ميكانيكية التفكك الضوئي لمعقد الكوبلت الثنائي.
