Abstract

Conventional vector control of A.C drives are widely used in industry andmany other applications, where high dynamic performance is required, this type ofcontroller usually needs costly speed sensor. Sensorless vector control is stronglyrecommended in the dangerous sites and hostile environment, also to reduce costand increase reliability. In this way the rotor speed can be estimated from theterminal voltage and current by means of DSP microprocessor. The DSP-estimatoris very complex hardware, has many operation problems, and very sensitive to theelectromagnetic interference (EMI). This paper proposes using the ArtificialNeural Network (ANN) to estimate the rotor speed, flux vector, torque, and unitvectors instead of DSP-estimator. Also, the neural-based controller is proposedtoo. The ordinary vector control with speed sensor and sensorless vector controlbased on DSP-estimator PI-controller are represented in this work as point ofcomparison. Also, the mathematical representation and simulation of the threephase induction motor is illustrated in this paper. The proposed method, neuralbasedsensorless vector controller and estimator, gives superior performance indifferent speed with respect to DSP-estimator PI-controller.

Abstract

This paper proposes the excitation system control of three phasesynchronous generator for improving the step response using an adaptive fuzzycontroller. The dynamic model and simulation of 3-phase synchronous generatorare proposed. The open loop voltage control responses under no-load and full-loadconditions are proposed too. The PI closed loop controller of excitation system isillustrated as a conventional control method, which gives an acceptable operationbehavior of synchronous generator terminal voltage. An adaptive fuzzy inferencesystem is proposed in this paper as a close loop controller, which gives an idealperformance in both of no-load and full-load conditions as compared with PIcontroller to control the 3-phase synchronous generator excitation system.Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed fuzzy controller schem.eWhich gives in fuzzy controller; rise time= 0.3 sec., overshot= 0%, settling time=0.3 sec., and steady state error= 0%. Whereas, in PI controller; rise time= 0.55sec., overshot= 20%, settling time= 2.8 sec., and steady state error= 0%.

یقدم ھذا البحث السیطرة على نظام الأثارة المغناطیسیة للمولد التزامني ثلاثي الأطواربأستخدام المسیطر الضبابي المكیّف لتحسین الأستجابة لأشارة الخطوة. كما ویقدم النموذجالدینامیكي والتمثیل الریاضي للمولد التزامني ثلاثي الاطوار. كما ویقدم أیضاً أستجابة الحلقةالمفتوحة للسیطرة على جھد المولد في ظروف اللاحمل والحمل الكامل. كما ویوضح البحثمسیطر الحلقة المغلقة التناسبي التكاملي كمسیطر تقلیدي لنظام الأثارة، والذي قدم أداءً مرضیاً لجھدالأخراج للمولد التزامني. كما ویقدم البحث نظام الأستدلال الضبابي المكیّف كمسیطر للحلقة المغلقةللنظام، والذي أعطى أداءً مثالیاً في السیطرة على نظام الأثارة للمولد التزامني ثلاثي الاطوار فيظروف اللاحمل والحمل الكامل مقارنةً مع المسیطر التناسبي التكاملي. وقد أظھرت نتائج التمثیلللنظام فاعلیة المسیطر الضبابي المقدم. حیث كانت النتائج للمسیطر الضبابي: زمن الأرتفاع= 0,3تانیة، التجاوز= 0%، زمن الوضع= 0,3 ثانیة، الخطأ في الحالة المستقرة= 0%. في حین كانأداء المسیطر التناسبي التكاملي: زمن الأرتفاع= 0,55 ثانیة، التجاوز= 20 %، زمن الوضع = 2,8.% تانیة، الخطأ في الحالة المستقرة=

A Comparative Study of PI and IP Controllers For Field Oriented Control of Three Phase Induction Motor

Abstract

In this paper, Field Oriented Control (FOC) of 3-phase induction motor iscontrolled by using (PI) and (I-P). These controllers are established with the help ofMATLAB/SIMULINK. The gains value obtained by the trial and error method of PIcontrollerand Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique is used in this paper fordesigning I-P controllers that give better performance. PSO technique was proposed totune the optimal gains of I-P controller and state feedback gains. A comparison betweentwo controllers is presented. From simulation results, the advantages and disadvantagesof both controllers are investigated to explain the characteristic of the two methods. Theoperation perforamcnes of the two proposed controller systems have been examined interms of the motor torque, current ripples and momentary responses to load toquevariants.
