Abstract

The objective of this study aimed to assess the effeats of the CO2 laser on the enamel cracks. The labial cracks of thirty extracted central incisors were irradiated with 4 Watts power and (0.4, 0.2 and 0.1) pulse durations. The laser used was CO2 laser with 10.6 μm in wavelength. The irradiated samples were sectioned into ground cross sections and examined under polarizing microscope. Enamel cracks can not be welded completely using CO2 laser irradiation. Although the formation of superficial glaze layer, there was a tendency to increase in the separation of the crack sides as the pulse duration of the laser increased

Abstract

Abstract
Although CO2 laser irradiation can decrease enamel demineralization, it has still not been clarified which laser wavelength and which irradiation conditions represent the optimum parameters for application as preventive treatment. One of the important applications of the laser is as a caries inhibition treatment of the sound dental tissues. This study aimed to assess the caries preventive potential of various CW CO2 laser parameters, and to explore the effect of laser power density, and the exposure time on the caries inhibition activity. Eighty one extracted human premolar teeth were irradiated with three output power: (1, 2, and 4) W, three spot diameter: (2, 2.83, and 4) mm, and three exposure times: (0.2, 0.4, and 0.8) sec of 10.6ىm CW CO2 laser. Three teeth were used as a control group. All teeth were subjected to carieslike lesion formation by 3.5 pH lactic acid solution for 21 days. The teeth after that were sectioned into ground cross sections and the lesion depths were measured under polarizing microscope. The lesion depths of experimental samples were compared with those of the control samples. A single exposure to CW CO2 laser irradiation was found to be resulted in reduction of the carieslike lesion depths. These reductions were up to 61%. The inhibition activity was related directly to the power density and inversely to the exposure time of CW CO2 laser radiation. The optimal parameters were 33W/cm2 power density and 0.2 exposure time. These finding should be reinforced with more laboratory, animal, and human studies with and without fluoride before clinical applications.

Abstract

The objective of this study aimed to assess the caries-preventive potential of various chopped CO2 laser parameters, and to explore the effect of the laser energy density on the caries inhibition activity.Roots of extracted human premolar teeth were irradiated with three various energy densities (25.47, 50.93, and 101.86) J/cm2, by changing the number of pulses, the pulse duration, and the spot diameter. The CO2 laser system emitted laser with 10.6m in wavelength. All roots were subjected to carieslike lesion formation by 3.5 pH lactic acid for 21 days. The roots after that were sectioned into ground cross sections and the lesion depths were measured under a polarizing microscope.Chopped CO2 laser preventive treatments inhibited carieslike lesion progression up to 36%. This effect was improved with decreased total energy density within the limits of the examined laser parameters.

Abstract

The objective of this study aimed to assess the carieslike lesion preventive potential of low power dye assisted He-Ne laser.Enamel of extracted human premolar teeth were painted with methylene blue dye and irradiated with 5 mW of He-Ne laser, which emitted laser with 632.8 nm in wavelength. Another group were irradiated without dye application, and the third group was served as control (without laser irradiation). All samples were subjected to carieslike lesion formation by 3.5 pH lactic acid for 21 days. The crowns after that were sectioned into ground cross sections and the lesion depths were measured under a polarizing microscope.According to this study, successful carieslike lesion inhibition could be achieved to 29% extent, by using low power dye assisted He-Ne laser irradiation.

Abstract

Background & objectives: Ulcers in the mouth (recurrent aphthous stomatitis) are very common and may vary in size from very small to very large. The exact cause of mouth ulcers isn’t known but acidic foods and stress are thought to be factors, as well as local traumatic damage such as that caused vigorous toothbrushing. Although uncomfortable, small ulcers are tolerable, but large ulcers can last for up to 2 weeks and greatly affect the ability to eat, drink and even talk. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of treatment of recurrent aphthous stomatitis by application of 940 nm diode laser irradiation & its effect on the duration and pain sensation. Materials and methods: A total number of 32 patients having at least 2 ulcers for each. Those patients were enrolled in this study using a split mouth design. The study included two groups, The experimental (study group) consisted of thirty two ulcers ( in the 32 patients ) were subjected to 940 nm laser irradiation & control group comprised of thirty two ulcers ( in the same 32 patients ) left without laser irradiation. Pain scores were recorded before and after laser treatment. The patient subjected to follow-up visits until complete healing of the ulcers occurred. Results: There were immediate changes in the pain scores of the experimental group just after diode laser application. The duration of the control group lesions ranged between (7-14) days, while the lesion in the experimental group subsided with a range between (4-12) days. Conclusion:1. Single session of diode laser irradiation can be used to produce immediate, dramatic and sustained analgesic effect on RAS lesion.2. The lesion duration was significantly reduced to about 40% from that of control lesion

Abstract

The objective of this study aimed to assess the relation between various CW CO2 laser parameters and the thickness of the surface zone in the created carieslike lesion.A total of twenty four extracted human premolar teeth were irradiated with three various power densities (63.66, 31.83, and 15.9) W/cm2. The CO2 laser system emitted laser with 10.6m in wavelength. All samples were subjected to 3.5 pH lactic acid for 21 days to form carieslike lesion. The crowns after that were sectioned into ground cross sections and the surface zone thicknesses were measured under a polarizing microscope.Continuous wave (CW) CO2 laser had a noticeable effect on the prominence of the surface zone. The mean of the surface zone thicknesses found to be directly related to the power density of CW CO2 laser.

Abstract

Image upgrade is essential for giving improved data to other image handling methods. Also, the requirement for differentiation improvement to all-encompassing image is a usually performed examination by dental specialists and oral specialists in regular practice and is a critical indicative apparatus. It covers a more extensive zone than a traditional intraoral x-beam and, subsequently, gives important data about the maxillary sinuses, tooth situating and other bone variations from the norm. Thusly, it is anything but difficult to distinguish and perceive valuable data.
