Abstract

The present study include eleven of the Pied Kingfisher (Ceryle rudis) birds from both sex, the weight and length of body were (98 ± 6.901gm), (32 ± 0.524 cm) respectively. The trachea characterized by a long flexible tube (6.34 ± 0.26 cm) in length and this refer to (49.403%) from the ratio length of respiratory system. It was mostly extend along the right side of the neck ventral to the esophagus and then enter the coelomic cavity. The trachea extend rostrally from the caudal end of the cricoid cartilage of the larynx into the connection between the trachea and syrinx (First tracheosyringeal cartilage ) caudally. The weight of trachea was (0.152 ± 0.018 gm) and this refer to (9.331%) from the weight of respiratory system. The cartilage rings which forming the trachea was oval in shaped and form the basic unit structure of the trachea. The total number of tracheal cartilage rings was (64.2 ± 1.2) and the diameter of the cartilage rings unequal and show a gradual decrease of its connection of the larynx into the syrinx and the mean of perimeter of the trachea connection with larynx was (43.252 ± 1.911 mm), while the connection with syrinx was (22.915 ± 1.152 mm). It can be see two skeletal muscles connected with trachea were trachiolateralis and sternotrachealis muscles.

Abstract

The present study has been out to examine macroscopic structure of the primary bronchi and lung in Bee-eaters bird ( Merops orientalis) observed exist within the rib cage, the distal part of the trachea are divided into two primary bronchi (left and right) and the macroscopic appearance of the primary bronchi consists of a short tube extend caudally from syrinx to enter the proximal third of the visceral surface of the lungs through the hilus. The basic unit consisting of the primary bronchi are cartilaginous rings which takes - C - shape. The mean total length of left and right primary bronchi are (1.025 ± 0.15 cm) and (1.075 ± 0.14 cm); and the number of cartilaginous rings in left and right primary bronchi are ( 18.5 ± 0.50) and (18.5 ± 1.50). The lungs are small, pyramidal-shaped, unlobed, bright pink color, and surrounded by thin colorless membrane the pleura and the air sacs. The lung containstwo surfaces (dorsal and ventral), two borders ( medial and lateral) and two extremities ( proximal and distal ). The mean total length, width and thickness of the right lung are (1.77 ± 0.17 cm), (0.95 ± 0.15 cm) and (0.4 ± 0.10 cm) while the mean total length, width and thickness of the left lung are (1.6 ± 0.15 cm ), ( 0.9 ± 0.14 cm )and (0.37 ± 0.02 cm ).

Abstract

In the current study use ten of the laughing dove (Streptopelia senegalensis) birds from both sexes, the body weight was (102.811±3.599gm). The present study include the morphometric features of the trachea, primary bronchi and lungs. The trachea was appear long flexible tube consist from several number of the cartilage rings closed like (O) shape which refer to the basic unit structure of the trachea. The mean length of the trachea was (6.166±0.176 cm) and this form (66.544 %) from the total length of the respiratory system. The primary bronchi appear as short tubes consist from several number of cartilage rings has (C) shape open from the medial side, connected together by transparent membrane. The length of right and left primary bronchi was ( 5.6 ± 0.4 mm ) ( 6.6 ± 0.2 mm ) and this form (6.043 %) (7.122%) respectively from the total length of the respiratory system. The lungs was pink into light red color, triangular or pyramidal-shaped. Each lung consist from two surfaces costal and visceral surfaces and three borders were lateral, medial and posterior borders. In the costal surface can be seen the lung contain five impressions. The length of the right and left lungs were ( 1.633 ± 0.02 cm ) ( 1.533 ± 0.03 cm ) and this form low percentage from the length of the respiratory system reaches into (17.623 %) and (16.544 %) and the thickness of right and left lungs were (4 ± 0.44 mm) (4.6 ± 0.49 mm), while the weight of the right and left lungs was (0.325 ± 0.032 gm) (0.308 ± 0.018 gm) respectively.

Abstract

The skin represents protective cover for the body and making up 16 % of the body weight. The current study included 15 specimens of skin flank region of three animals (cow, buffalo, and camel) fixed in 10 % formalin and then processed through a serial steps for histological examinations, and stained with, Hematoxylin and Eosin, Van Gesion, and Periodic Acid Shiffe stains, for description of the histochemical and histological structures of the skin. Results showed the epidermis was composed of four layers. The maximum thickness of epidermis observed in buffalo's skin was (6.16±0.27 µ) and thinnest in camel's skin was (2.24 ±0.08µ).The results revealed that the dermis consist of two layers; papillary and reticular layers which contain primary and secondary hair follicles, and there was great variation in diameter, sebaceous and sweat glands. The thickness of dermis was (84 ± 1.26 µ, 61.6 ±3.7 µ, and 53.6 ± 2.03 µ) in camel, buffalo and cow respectively. The thickness of papillary layer in buffalo's skin appeared with high thickness in compare with skin of cow and camel, while the flank skin of camel have maximum thickness of reticular layer, corneal, dermis, and total skin (68.8±4.63µ, 1.06±0.13µ, 84±1.26µ,93.6±2.03µ) respectively. The sebaceous glands were simple branched and alveolar, present in large size and multi-lobular in skin of buffalo while in camel's skin appeared uni-lobular and small. All sweat glands in the flank region were of apocrine type; also differences were noticed in size and shape of these glands in studied animals. In buffalo it appeared small, single and few, but in camel was aggregation in large number spread in the dermis. In conclusion there are no differences in general structures of skin but thickness of layers varied among all the animals.

يعتبر الجلد هو الغطاء الواقي للجسم ويشكل حوالي 16% من وزن الجسم. تضمنت الدراسة الحالية 15 عينه لجلد منطقة الخاصرة من ثلاث حيوانات هي الأبقار والجاموس والجمال ، تم تثبيت العينات في 10% فورمالين وبعد ذلك تم اجراء الخطوات اللازمة لتحضير الشرائح النسجيه وصبغت بصبغات الهيماتوكسلين ايوسين , فان كيزن و كاشف شف الدوري لغرض الوصف الكيميائي النسيجي و التركيب النسيجي لها. أوضحت النتائج أن ا لبشرة تتكون من اربعة طبقات كما أظهرت الدراسة أن أعلى سمك للأدمة لوحظ في جلد الجاموس وكان 0.27± 6.16 مايكروميتر واقل سمك كان في جلد الجمل بلغ 0.08±2.24 مايكروميتر, ولوحظت الأدمة في هذه الدراسة تتكون من طبقتين هي الطبقة الحليمة والطبقة الشبكية وتحتوي ايضا على جريبات الشعر الابتدائية والثانوية التي ظهر اختلاف كبير في اقطارها. ان سمك الطبقة الحليمية لجلد الجاموس كان اعلى مقارنة بجلد الابقار والجمال بينما الجاموس يمتلك اعلى سمك للطبقات الشبكية ، والمتقرنة ، والادمة ، وسمك الجلد الكلي كان (4.63±68.8 ، 0.13±1.06، 1.26±84 ،2.03±93.6 مايكروميتر) على التوالي. وظهرت الغدد الزهمية بشكل غدد كيسية متفرعة بسيطة مصاحبة لجريبات الشعر ولوحظت في الجاموس بأعداد كبيره ومتعددة الفصوص بينما ظهرت في جلد الجمل أحادية الفص صغيرة وتحيط بجريبات الشعر، اما الغدد العرقية فظهرت في جلد الجاموس مفردة وصغيرة ، بينما لوحظت بشكل مجاميع وبأعداد كبيرة في جلد الجمل ، نستنتج من ذلك ليس هناك اختلاف في التركيب العام للجلد ولكن هناك اختلاف في سمك الطبقات.

Abstract

Abstract: The present study included ten specimens of adult pigeon wood (Columba palumbus) collected from market of Al-Diwanyia city, divided the specimens into two groups five specimens for grossly study and five specimens for histological study. Opened the birds and extracted the right and left bronchi and left and right lungs for the purpose of grossly and histological studies. The study included grossly study for external bronchi. The total length of left bronchi was ( 0.7 ± 0.1 cm ) and right bronchi was ( 0.65 ± 0.05 cm ) and the basic structure of bronchi was the cartilage has – C – shape, also determine relationship bronchi with the neighboring organs. The grossly study involved the lungs right and left, it is found that the lung has two surfaces ( Costal and Visceral ) and two ends ( Distal and Proximal ) also detected relation to organs nearby, found that the average length of the right lung was ( 2.8 ± 0 cm ) while left lung was ( 2.75 ± 0.05 cm ) and average width of right lung was ( 2.45 ± 0.65 cm ) while the left lung was ( 2.7 ± 0.7 cm ). The histological study involves the histological description of external and internal bronchi of the left and right lungs.

الخلاصة: شملت الدراسة الحالية عشرة عينات من حمام الغابة (Columba palumbus) جمعت من أسواق مدينة الديوانية وقسمت العينات إلى مجموعتين خمسة عينات للدراسة العيانية وخمسة عينات للدراسة النسجية. شرحت الطيور واستخرجت القصبات الخارجية والرئتين اليمنى واليسرى لغرض الدراستين العيانية والنسجية. تضمنت الدراسة دراسة عيانية للقصبات الخارجية وبلغ طول القصبة اليسرى( 0.7 ± 0.1 cm ) بينما القصبة اليمنى كانت( 0.65 ± 0.05 cm) ,أن الوحدة البنائية للقصبات الأولية هي الغضاريف الزجاجية على شكل حرف – C - وعلاقتها مع الأعضاء المجاورة كما شملت الدراسة الرئتين اليمنى واليسرى ووجد أن الرئة تملك سطحين ( ضلعي و حشوي ) ونهايتين ( قاصية و دانية ) وعلاقتها بالأعضاء المجاورة ووجد أن معدل متوسط طول الرئة اليمنى كان ( 2.8 ± 0.01 cm ) بينما الرئة اليسرى ( 2.75 ± 0.05 cm ) ومعدل متوسط عرض الرئة اليمنى كان( 2.45 ± 0.65 cm ) بينما الرئة اليسرى ( 2.7 ± 0.7 cm ) . تناولت الدراسة النسجية الوصف النسجي للقصبات خارج وداخل الرئتين والوصف النسجي للرئتين اليمنى واليسرى.
