Abstract

Highly photosensitive CdS thin films with photocurrent to dark current ratio (Iph/Id) of ~105 under 300W.m-2 illumination were reported. The films are prepared by an electroless chemical deposition technique. The pH value of the solution used in the electroless deposition of cadmium sulfide thin films has been found to affect the deposition rate, optical transmission, photoconductivity, photoconductivity to dark conductivity ratio Cph/Cd and photocurrent decay time.

Abstract

Abstract

CdS thin films were prepared by the chemical bath deposition technique. Annealing in air at different temperatures (300, 350, 400, 450, and 500)°C at constant time of 30min, also for different times (15, 30, 45, 60, and 90) min at constant temperature (300°C) is achieved. The CdS films showed, on average, 20% reflectance. The transmittance ranged between 80–92% for the films annealed at 60 and 45 min. On average, the refractive index of the CdS is 1.2 and the band gap is 2.4eV, the wide band gap semiconductor has a wide range of applications in areas including photocells and other photoconductive devices.

Abstract

ZnO Thin films were deposited by chemical bath deposition. Structure, optical, and electrical properties of these films were analyzed in order to investigate their dependence on thickness of films. High quality ZnO films with a low resistivity of 1.3 cm and transparency above 80% were able to be formed for thickness 95.8nm. X-ray diffraction and spectrophotometer are used to investigate the properties of ZnO films.
