Citrullus collocynthis Extract as Corrosion inhibitor for carbon low steel in Acid Medium using Weight Loss Method

Abstract

corrosion inhibition of carbon low steel using methanol extract of the fruits of Citrullus collocynthis was studied using weight loss measurement at 303,323 and 333ºK. The inhibition efficiency increased with the increase in inhibitor concentration but decreased with temperature. The Langmuir adsorption isotherm was tested for their fit to the experimental data . The apparent activation energies ,entropies of the dissolution process and the free energies for the adsorption process were determined an discussed .All computed quantum chemical parameters are found to correlate well with experimental inhibition efficiency of inhibitor.

تمت دراسة تثبيط التآكل لفولاذ منخفض الكاربون باستخدام مستخلص الميثانول لثمار الحنظل باستخدام طريقة فقدان الوزن وفي 303,323 و 333 كلفن . كفاءة التثبيط تزداد مع زيادة تركيز المثبط ولكنها تنخفض مع الحرارة. أن امتزاز الجزيئات على سطح المعدن يخضع لمعادلة امتزاز لانكماير .تم تعين قيم الثوابت الثرموديناميكية ,طاقة التنشيط , حرارة التفاعل و العشوائية لعملية ذوبان المعدن وتم كذلك تعين الطاقة الحرة لعملية الامتزاز,وتم مناقشة هذه النتائج.ووجد هناك تناسق كبير بين قيم عملية كفاءة التثبيط والقيم المحسوبة من كيمياء الكم .

Abstract

corrosion of metals is the most significant and difficult life problems, especially its produce an economical losses, therefore, many researches carried out in various fields in order to reduce the bad effect of corrosion, particularly in acidic environments. Using corrosion inhibitors is one of the methods of prevention corrosion, which come up on organic and inorganic materials, in this study, dried Olive stone powder used as corrosion inhibitor in solutions of hydrochloric acid with concentrations of 0.5, 1 and 1.5 molarity at room temperature, where 10 gm per litter of acid. The corrosion rates of mild steel samples were measured using potentiostat device with reference of calomel electrode. The result shows that corrosion rate reduced by adding the Olive stone powder. The highest inhibition efficiency percent for acid solutions with concentration of 1.5 molarity is 82.9%, while the lowest was 64.1% in the 0.5 molarity solution, and in the 1 molarity solution was 77.6%. The chemical composition of the Olive stone powder is shown to be an organic matter of a high carbon and hydrogen content making a carbonyl compound which has the greatest effect in inhibition corrosion in acidic solutions such as hydrochloric acid.

Abstract

The present study included study the kinetics reaction of the hydrolysis of aromatic Schiff bases in presence of 50% aqueous ethanol as well as in acidic medium 30% from the hydrochloric acid and glacial acid as catalyst by spectrophotometric method. It was found that the order of reaction with respect to Schiff bases is pseudo first order. Also the study showed the influence of the electronic withdrawing group and electron donating substitute on the phenyl ring of Schiff bases on the reaction rate constant.

تضمن البحث دراسة حركيات التحلل المائي لقواعد شف الاورماتية المحضرة من الفانيلين بوجود الماء -الايثانول بنسبة 50% وبوجود حامض الخليك الثلجي وحامض الهيدروكلوريك بنسبة 30% بوصفه محفز باستخدام الطريقة الطيفية . وجد ان حركية التفاعل للقواعد قيد الدراسة تخضع الى الرتبة الاولى الكاذبة. كما بينت الدراسة تاثير المجاميع الدافعة والساحبة للالكترونات والمعوضة على الحلقة الاروماتية للامينات المحضرة على ثابت سرعة التفاعل .
