Abstract

In this paper the effect of the springback on the bending operation of differentmaterials and alloys have been studied. Dies were designed and constructed indifferent shape ( U-die , V-die) for several sheet’s thickness. Two types of alloyswere used; Aluminum Alloy 7020 T6 and Brass Alloy. These alloys have differentsheet thickness (2, 4, 6 and 8) mm. Aluminum alloys are heated to 270 °C and330°C with cooling in the furnace for 90 min. while the brass alloys heated to 300,320, 340 and 420 °C with cooling for 2 hours in furnace. Bending was done byusing the press of 80 ton. The springback is calculated by published equation. Itcan be concluded that, the springback phenomenon caused to enlarge the externaldimensions when releasing the load and thick material have less springback due tothe enlarge of the plastic deformation. It’s found that the die’s shapes have greateffect on the springback, and when the temperature of the specimen is increased,caused decreased in the springback.

على عملية الحني لمعادن (springback) في هذه الدراسة تمت دراسة تأثير الرجوعيةBrass وسبيكة البراص Aluminum Alloy7020 T مختلفة وهي : وسبيكة ألمنيوم 6. Alloy8) اذ تم تصميم وتصنيع mm, 6mm, 4mm, 2mm) وهذه السبائك ذات سمك مختلفتم معاملة . U وقالب حني على شكل مقطع V قالبين وهما : قالب حني على شكل مقطعسبائك الالمينيوم معاملة حرارية بدرجة 270 و 330 درجة مئوية وتبريدها داخل الفرن لمدة90 دقيقة . اما سبائك البراص فقد تم تسخينها الى 340 ، 320 ، 300 ، و 420 درجة مئويةوتم تبريدها بالفرن لمدة ساعتين . وقد بينت النتائج ان ظاهرة الرجوعية تسبب زيادة في الابعادالخارجية بعد رفع الحمل وان المعادن السميكة لها رجوعية اقل بسبب التشوه اللدن. وايضا بينت النتائج ان لشكل القالب وللمعاملة الحرارية تاثير كبير على مقدار الرجوعية في السبائك ، حيثان كلما زادت درجة الحرارة قلت الرجوعية

Abstract

Friction stir welding -FSW- is a new process of joining AA7020- T53 aluminum alloy sheet. There are few parameters which effects of FSW such as spindle speed, feed rate, tool design and tool tilt angle. In this search, the effect of tool rotational speed (spindle speed) and travel speed (feed rate) on mechanical properties are discussed. The FSW technique was performed using three different of rotational speeds and three different traverse speeds, while other parameters are kept constant to compare between joints. It was found that the best mechanical properties can be obtained from using high spindle speed and high feed rate. The ultimate tensile strength increases approximately 25% while the yield stress and elongation increases approximately 19% and 57% respectively, when used spindle speed (900r.p.m) and feed rate (50 mm/min).
