Abstract

Aims: To determine the ideal dimensions of the artificial dental arch by measuring the dimensions of dental arch of completely dentulous subjects and to find the relation of these dimensions to some facialmeasurements. Materials and Methods: The sample of study consisted of 54 completely dentulous adult subjects (24 females and 30 males) with Class 1 normal occlusion aged 19–24 years. Dental casts were taken for each subject and the dimensions of the dental casts and the facial measurements were made by using digital vernier caliper. The data were analyzed with Statistical Package for Social Science program. Results: The dimensions of the dental arches and the facial measurements of themale group was larger than that of female and there was high correlation between some dimensions of dental arch with some of the facial measurements. Conclusions: The width of the dental arches of theartificial dental prosthesis could be determined depending on the extraoral facial measurements as the percentage of upper intercanine distance to mouth width is 74.43% and the percentage of the upperinter first molar distance to bizygomatic width was 40.65%

Abstract

Background: This study aimed to determine whether there is a relationship among the bite force with facialdimensions and dental arches in a sample of Iraqi adults with Class I skeletal and dental relations.Materials and methods: Forty dental students (20 males and 20 females) were selected under certain criteria. Forthose individuals, dental impressions, frontal facial photographs and maximum bite force at molar and incisor regionswere taken. The dental arches widths and facial dimensions were measured using the AutoCAD program 2007, whilethe bite force was determined using special device. Descriptive statistics for the measured variables were performedand gender difference was determined using independent sample t-test, while the relation among bite force andfacial dimensions and dental arches widths was determined by Pearson’s correlation coefficient test. Results: The results indicated that bite force, facial dimensions and dental arches widths were higher in males thanfemales with a non-significant genders difference for the bite force and upper inter-canine width, while with a highsignificant genders difference for the other measurements. Pearson’s correlation coefficient revealed non-significantcorrelation among the bite force and facial dimensions and dental arches widths. Conclusion: This study proved that there was no relationship among the bite force with facial dimensions and dentalarches widths

Abstract

This research is concerned with behavior of composite steel-concrete archesunder static load. For this purpose, eight models of composite steel-concrete archesare fabricated as test specimens.According to their supporting systems, the eightfabricated specimens are equally divided into Hinge-Roller and Hinge-Hingesupported arches in which varied numbers of shear connectors are used to investigatethe effects of support conditions and degree of shear connection on the behavior ofthe composite arches. The specimens are tested under monotonically increasing pointload applied on their crowns (on the top of concrete slabs). The mechanical properties of the used materials are determined by laboratorytests. Push-out tests on three specimens, fabricated for this purpose, are also carriedout to determine the properties of the stud shear connectors. It is concluded that increasing the number of connectors tends to increase theultimate load capacity and decrease both displacement and slip in the compositearches. This trend is considerably satisfied when the horizontal movements ofsupports are constrained (Hinge-Hinge supported arches).

Abstract

Background: Dermatoglyphics, the study of fingerprints are unceasing and characteristic. It has been found useful in forensic medicine and documentation purpose. It is beneficial in medical diagnosis of genetically inherited diseases and in detection of crimes. Objective: To associate between digital dermatoglyphics patterns in ABO, Rh blood groups in the mother and fetus and to assess their significance.Patients and Methods: The pregnant mother and her baby of the 2016 in Al-Batool teaching hospital, designed the study populace. The present study has been carried out on 90 fit individuals (mothers her baby) undergoing medical screening. Fingerprints were attained by Ink method. Parameters studied were arches, whorls, loops. Results: Common of the subjects (42%) in the study were of blood group A followed by blood group O, B and AB of whom (30%) were Rh-positive. The common distribution of pattern of finger print showed high frequency (30%) of loops followed by whorls and arches. Almost similar order was detected in both Rh-positive and Rh negative individuals or A, B, AB and O blood groups, except blood group O- ve which showed more whorls. Conclusion: There is an association between distribution of finger print pattern and blood groups.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to conduct a comprehensive documentary study of architecture in Palestine during the first Abbasid rule (132-232 / 750-847). The authors of this research depends on the collecting of the descriptive data and historical information of this study on many sources and references. In addition to fieldwork, which included taking dimensions of buildings and the designation of sites and buildings on the map of Palestine and the preparation of a table and taking photographs. As well as reading the founding inscriptions of the Dome of the Rock and the inscription of Al-Ramlah. In addition to study of the books of the Arabs and Muslims early such as: Baladri, Yacoubi, Shehab Al Maqdesi, Al tabari etc. And the most important reference the book of Creswell on early Islamic architecture. Finally, reports of archaeological excavations and their results were conducted at sites dating back to the time period of this research.
