Abstract

Ovarian physiology is controlled by many exogenous and endogenous factors including the endocrinological and biochemical alteration that occur in the follicular fluid during the estrus cycle. the aim of this study was to determine and compare the concentrations of some hormonal and biochemical composition in peripheral circulation and follicular fluid of buffaloes .For this purpose ,ovaries collected from adult buffaloes immediately after slaughter, and blood samples where also collected from these buffaloes before slaughter in Basra abattoir.Samples were classified into two groups according to the follicle diameter, small (4-8 mm) and large (> 8 mm). The follicular fluid and plasma samples were analyzed for biochemical composition using commercial kits. The results showed that small follicles had significant higher (p<0.05) , T3, glucose, and cholesterol concentrations than large follicles while no differences were found in concentrations of TSH between both groups .The concentrations of ,T4, progesterone, estrogen, and total protein were significantly higher (P< 0.05) in large follicles than small follicles. The results of the present study also indicated that the TSH, T4, glucose, total protein and cholesterol concentrations in the blood plasma were significantly higher

Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACT _The fertility and viability rates of hydatid cysts obtained from livers and lungs ofgoat, camels and buffaloes were investigated .Out of (659) cysts (198 from goat,241 frombuffaloes and 220 from camels) .examined ,520(164 from goat ,156 from buffaloes and200 from camels were fertile (containing living protoscolices). The mean viability rates in-the liver cysts of goat camel and buffalo were (77.4%, 76.8% and 76.7%) respectivelywhereas those in the lung cyst of the same hosts,in the same order were 81.2% 75% and -84.65% respectively. The growth rate of lung cysts was slower than those of liver in allhosts investigated.. Three hosts investigated seem to be suitable hosts for Echinococcus granulosus. However ,goats seem to be the most significant host that contributes actively in Aperptuation of life cycle of this parasite in Iraq .

Abstract

This study was conducted on 74 Iraqi buffaloes suffered from retention of fetal membranes (RFM) after 8-12 hrs in Karbala province from 2010-2011, there were ranged from 3-7 years old. The affected animals were divided into four groups randomly according to the treatment regime .1st group (18 buffaloes) treated manually ,2nd group (22buffaloes) treated with oxytocin hormone 100 IU(10ml/IM) .While the 3rd group (21 buffaloes) was treated with a single dose of estrumate 750μg (3ml /IM) .The 4th group (13 buffaloes) was treated with a single dose of estradiol benzoate (15mg/IM) and all groups were treated with a single dose of oxytetracycline 20% (20ml/IM).The response for different treatment regimes were 100% ,77% ,76.19% and 76.92% for groups respectively. The manual removal treatment gives a superior significant difference (P<0.01) from other hormonal treatments and the second group recorded a better percentage of drops of fetal membranes compared with the 3rd and 4th group. The manually treated animals were superior to other group related to first postpartum estrus, the number of services per conception and the days open measurements. We concluded that the manual treatment still an important method of treatment, this fact depends on the reproductive parameters. Also we concluded that the hormonal treatment is a good method and gives appositive result reaches to 80% response.INTRODUCTION
