Abstract

Background and objective: Pseudomonas aeruginosa is very a well-documented nosocomial and opportunistic microorganism, a little challenge is being present with the identification of such pathogen. This study aimed to identify Pseudomonas on genus and species levels by conventional PCR and determine multi-drug resistant isolates.Methods: A total of 180 clinical isolates of Pseudomonas species were recovered from in and outpatients who attended Azadi and Rezgari Teaching hospitals in Duhok and Erbil city from October 2015 to May 2016. These isolates were phenotypically identified using standard microbiological procedures. A total of 100 isolates were randomly selected and confirmed at a molecular level as Pseudomonas spp.Results: By applying genus-specific gyr B2 primer which produced1130bp amplification band and sixty-eight isolates were identified by PCR as P. aueroginosa using species-specific primer for 16S rRNA region which showed 956bpamplicon. Forty-six isolates out of the sixty-eight resembling Pseudomonas aeruginosa were diagnosed as being multi-drug resistant isolates by the disc diffusion method.Conclusion: It can be concluded that multi-drug resistant isolates can pose a serious threat for the hospital-resident patients as increasing numbers of these isolates are being recorded in local settings.

Abstract

From the period from March to August 2016, 210 swabs were collected from the burn patients hospitalized in different hospitals in Baghdad City: Al-Karama Teaching Hospital, Special Burn Hospital, Central Teaching Laboratories, Child protection Teaching Hospital, Imam Ali Hospital. Out of 210 clinical isolates, 42 (37.5 %) had been shown a single isolated of pathogenic bacteria K. pneumoniae and the others were belonged to other bacteria and mixed growth isolates. Identification of all isolates were carried out depending on macroscopic, microscopic characterizations, conventional biochemical tests and Api 20E system.Metallo-β lactamase (MBL) enzymes were screen by two phenotypic methods(Meropenem-EDTA double disks method and Modified Hodg test). Susceptibility testing were used with The following antibiotic disks:Imipenem,Meropenem,Ceftazidime,Cefotaxime,Pipracillin,Gentamicin,Amikacin andCiprofloxacin.The percentage of resistance isolates were as followed:Imipenem (21.42%),Meropenem (19.04%),Ceftazidime(69.04%), Cefotaxime (85.71%), Pipracillin(85.71%), Gentamicin (26.19%), Amikacin (19.04 %) andCiprofloxacin(59.52%).The percentage of the prevalence of blaNDM-1 and blaNDM-2 genes in K. pneumoniae isolates from burn patients in Baghdad hospitals were as followed:20(100 %) forblaNDM-1 genes and 6 (30 %) for blaNDM-2 genes.

Abstract

AbstractThe current study included the collection of (110) of Clinical samples Pseudomonas-aeroginosa frommodelsbacteria from Sarsarymodels for burn patients in Thi-Qar Governorate for the period(1/12/2016 until 1/7/2017). The diagnosis of bacteria was based on plant traits, microscopicexamination and growth on the differential and standard biochemical tests. The method of spreadingthe tablets andmeasuring the inhibition areas around the disk were used to test antibiotic resistance,(16) isolates were shown to be resistant antibiotics resistance to both antibiotics (Levoflaxacin 90%,Amikacin80%, Aztraonam 75%, Ampicillin 95% ,Carbenicillin80% , Cibrofloxacin 90%, Gantamicin75% ,Cftazillin 70% ,Tetracycllin 55%, Imipenem 30%)

الخلاصةتضمنت الدراسة الحالیة جمع ( 110 ) عینة لجرثومةالزائفة الزنجاریة من نماذج٢٠١٧/٧/ ٢٠١٦ لغایة ١ /١٢/ سرسریة لمرضى الحروق في محافظة ذي قار للمدة ( ١) . اعتمد تشخیص البكتریا على الصفات الزرعیة والفحص المجھري والنمو على الاوساط التفریقیةوالاختبارات الكیموحیویة القیاسیة استخدمت طریقة الانتشار بالأقراص وقیاس مناطق التثبیط حولالقرص لاختبار المقاومة المضادات الحیویةاظھرت ( ١٦ ) عزلة مقاومة لكل من المضادات, بنسبة % 75 Aztraonam, بنسبة % 80 Amikacin ,% بنسبة 90 Levoflaxacin) الحیاتیةبنسبة Gantamicin ,% بنسبة 90 Cibrofloxacin ,% 95 بنسبة 80 %Carbenicillin بنسبة Ampicillin(% بلغت المقاومة 30 Imipenem بنسبة 55 % , اما مضاد Tetracycllin % بنسبة 70 Cftazillin %75

Assessment of Neopterin and Interleukin-1 Beta Serum Levels in Burn Patients

Abstract

Background: The burn is an injury consisting of the destruction of the skin and the underlying tissues. The neopterin(Neo) is produced by activated macrophages, in response to interferon-gamma derived from activated T cell. Interleukin1 beta (IL-1β) is an important mediator of the inflammatory response.Objective: Estimation of Neo and IL-1β in burned patients to determine the changes in these parameters in relation to percentage of total burn body surface area (TBSA%) and the duration of hospital stay.Patients and Methods: Fifty burned patients who were admitted to West Erbil Emergency Hospital in Erbil governorate were included. Out of 50 burnt patients 20 patients were secondly sampled to follow-up serum levels for Neo and IL- β. The burn patients in this study was divided into four groups according to the TBSA%.Results: Comparing mean concentration of serum Neo and IL-1β in burn patients and healthy control revealed increased levels of Neo and IL-1β in burnt patients with increased TBSA% , indeed IL-1β serum level also increased in non-survivor burn patients compared with survivor patients and HC. Indeed levels of Neo level increased significantly in (10) day post burn.Conclusion: Levels of Neo and IL-1β increased in burnt patients with increased TBSA%, non-survivor compared with survivor patients and HC. Indeed levels of Neo level increased in (10) day post burn.

خلفية الدراسة: الحروق هي جروح ناتجه من إصابة الجلد و تحطم الانسجه التي تحتها . تنتج Neo) Neopterin)من الخلايا البلعميه النشطه كاستجابه لافراز الانترفيرون كاما المشتقه من الخلايا التائيه. التعبير Interleukin1 beta1 من الوسائط المهمه في الاستجابه الالتهابيه.الهدف من الدراسة: صممت هذه الدراسة لتقدير Neopterin و IL-1β في مجاميع الدراسه لتحديد التغيرات في هده الؤشرات حسب فتره البقاء في المستشفى و النسبة المئوية لاجمالية للمساحة السطحية المحروقة للجسم (TBSA).المرضى وطرائق العمل: اجريت هذه الدراسة على خمسون من مرضى الحروق والراقدين في مستشفى الطوارئ الشرقي في محافظة اربيل. ضمن الخمسون مريضا تم اعاده جمع العينات من 20 مريضا لمتابعه neopterin و IL- β. لقد تم تصنيف مرضى الحروق في هذا البحث الى اربعة مجاميع حسب النسبة المئوية لاجمالى المساحة السطحية المحروقة للجسم.النتائج: الفرق لم تكن ذات دلالة احصائية بالنسبة IL-1β و Neo عند مقارنتها بجموعه السيطرة ( 0.05
